It finally happened 🥲 $19.99 at the thrift

Going straight to pick up cleaner and conditioner. Any insight on what is going on with the swirly stain in photo 2? And how best to help the big wrinkles in 3?

Unknown stain

Does anyone know what this stain could be? It doesn’t smell. I’m not sure how to clean it.

Taking my 1996 court to her first conference!

She was made in April, 1996, so we’re basically celebrating her 30th :)

and that’s a wrap!

Think i’m done working on this beauty, the flaws are just character development at this point. one new spot appeared on the back this week when i removed a piece of melted candy from the inside. let some cornstarch sit on the outside leather and cleaned it up and did one more good conditioning!

she more than likely won’t stay in my collection but i really enjoyed sharing this bag with y’all! enjoy and have a great weekend 🩵

Can anything be done for this stain?

Got an absolute steal on this beauty at the thrift, and she's in excellent condition aside from the large stain at the bottom. I've been unable to figure out what exactly happened, so I don't know where to begin or if anything can even be done about it. Any advice?

Verdigris on leather

How do I remove verdigris (green corrosion) from leather? I’ve already tried using saddle soap and then baking soda afterward. It has improved a bit, but the stains are still very clearly visible.

Thanks in advance for your help!

How to remove tackiness from thrifted vintage Coach Layfayette?

My holy grail is a vintage bottle green duffle so my heart raced when I found this. 💚. Previous owner/s obviously tried to restore it. No idea what they used on it but the leather has a tackiness to it. Before I give it a soaking bath, any other suggestions? Thanks!

How serious is mold, really?

I am not so good with grey areas. If the mold isn’t extensive, and you treat it, how prone is it to coming back with normal use? Do you trust it to be stored with precious or expensive bags? Would you gift it to a loved one? I’m troubled by recommendations to never again dunk a bag that has been treated for mold. It makes me concerned that less than ideal storage, or getting caught in a rain storm, will make it shed spores again when another bag would do fine

I’m asking partly for my own collection, but mostly because I’m rehabbing a bag for my MIL that has a tiny mold area. I checked with UV light after treatment (2x vinegar and 1x concrobium), and it didn’t fluoresce, but I know it might not be the right type of mold or that there could be mold beneath the surface. I am not against risking the bag in this case if there’s a more definitive method I haven’t seen

I can either gift her a Janice that she’d like more, but had mold at one point, or a Fletcher in great condition but that doesn’t have the same character. I’d prefer to give her the Janice, but I’d feel awful if it’s just going to be a liability for her other items at some point. What would you do?

Y2K Wednesday: First vintage Coach bag!

I'm so happy! I'm a big Coach fan but the brand isn't available in my country, so finding a vintage Coach bag in good condition it's very rare here.

Fortunately, I was able to clean some of the hardware, but I'm open to any suggestions on how to clean this type of leather or any tips on how to take care of it.

Edit: from what I found, the bag is called Gardenia Satchel and it’s from the Legacy collection (fir the 65th Anniversary).

PRE CREED COACH BAGS

Does anyone know how i could research bags prior to when Coach started using a Creed in their bags? I know they started with just a small "COACH" stamped inside and also a metal plate that just said "COACH" (not sure which came first) I have this bag that has no creed, no serial number and no white tag inside. But it does have the small metal plate that says "COACH". I would like to find out when exactly it was made and where. Can anyone point me in the right direction to research this? TYIA

Would be able to anyone help?

I bought this bag a few months back at a yard sale in a pretty beat up condition, she obviously still needs some extra care. Does anyone have any tips to restore her a bit more? I used my standard leather boot cleaner/conditoner set (I’m from Texas, it’s all I’ve gotten by wit so far haha) but think this could use something a bit more intense.

Also would anyone have any information on this bag? From what I’ve looked up with serial numbers it seems to be from the 70s-80s but I can’t find one that looks just like it to know the bag name. Thank you all for your help in advance! ❣️

Almost Finished Rehabbing a Ruined Coach Duffle Shoulder Bag

Before image is at the end of the video. One side has detailing done, the other doesn’t. Decided to share now, because I love how dramatic the change is once the outlining is added. I bought this bag at an auction for a few dollars a few years ago. Someone decided to try to remove ink stains and ruined the bag. I believe this is a 2001 bag, but I never trust myself with reading creeds correctly.

Torn handle

I thrifted this really old, worn bucket bag. I’ve been moisturizing the bag for a couple of weeks now and it’s so soft and it’s turning out pretty well. But the handle is torn like this. I’m planning on using leather glue and maybe leather filler? Any ideas?

Faded suede

The suede part of this bag has definitely seen better days. In some areas it is a bit worn, and overall it looks quite blotchy. I also feel like the colour no longer matches the smooth leather, as it has faded slightly. Would it be safe to refresh the suede using a suitable colour spray (in the shade Tobacco Tan)?

Interior Cleaning! Musty but NOT moldy.

Hello,

I have just purchased a 1994 Willis bag and the leather is abraded and slightly faded but totally restorable. I have two other vintage Coach bags, a Bixby sling and a big 9992 backpack. Back when I got the Bixby, like 10 years ago, it was common to see people recommending literally washing the bags in water, then conditioning. I did that with the Bixby and it turned out fine, didn't fade it, but Bixby is definitely thinner leather than the Willis. I don't see that advice at all anymore. The Willis I just got is dirty--outside I can deal with, but inside it just smells dirty, musty. Not like a smoker, just old dirt. What's the latest advice about cleaning the interior?
