SEGA plans 4 major new games by 2027 - what do you think they are?

SEGA says it plans to release four major new titles based on its mainstay IPs before April 2027, according to its latest financial report.

GameWatcher article

A few projects people are already speculating about:

  • Persona 4 Revival
  • New Virtua Fighter
  • Total War: Warhammer 40K
  • Stranger Than Heaven
  • Possible Crazy Taxi / Jet Set Radio revivals

What do you think the four games are? And which SEGA franchise deserves a comeback most? More Streets of Rage would be good. Alien is in development, but probably not until 2027.

Ork Boss Gulgortz in Wallpaper?

I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet but isn't the Ork Boss in the wallpaper Gulgortz from Tacticus?

He looks exactly like him, minus the Grot on top.

I wanted to make a post summarizing the general information we got today. If there's something I missed, let me know! It was mostly information about maps, but we did get our first look at some deployment zones and cover, as well as fleets and how they will interact with ground forces.

Maps

  • Planets will be separated into regions, and in order to invade a planet you put forces on the ground to invade them. Systems will have a "handful" of planets. This is information we already had—planets will not be equivalent to settlements, rather a planet is more similar to a continent, if we're making a comparison to WH3 scale.
  • Regions on planets will have "key locations" that you need to acquire in order to take the region. In other words, take the settlement to capture the region! Straightforward Total War stuff.
  • Planets will have two (maybe three) ways of differentiating themselves from each other. The first is the biome, which is like if the planet is arid, temperate, cold, etc. The second is the level of civilization on the planet (hive world, mining world, frontier world, etc.). The third, which they don't mention directly, could be the planet's topography in and of itself. I imagine planets will either have a large amount of templates that has different biomes applied to it or each heightmap will be procedurally generated. I'm hoping for the latter! The art director said that, when designing planets, they do not have to "manually" insert things like trees and mountains, and that they're capable of making "infinite versions" of planets.
  • Battlemaps will not be procedurally generated, but rather there is a selection of pre-made maps that change in appearance depending on the biome you're fighting in. This disappointed me somewhat, as I was hoping for a procedural system, but if there are enough maps I don't think it will be an issue.
  • Battlemaps are much bigger than in previous games!
  • I think the maps look gorgeous! If nothing else, the art direction for this game is wonderful from what we've seen so far. Potato computers, watch out...

Gameplay

  • At least for the Guard infantry, units are still formed up into lines and moved in blocks. Big units of 100+ models are still to be expected!
  • Cover is crucial, and can help defend vulnerable units from ranged attacks (makes sense). We see some "cover zones" on the battlemaps they showed off! Some are fortified static positions while others seemed to be simple elevated pieces of terrain.
  • A lot of terrain elements will be destructible, including forests and buildings. They were quick to specify that not all terrain will be destructible!
  • We got a look at some of the infantry squads, and the units had a few sergeants with chainswords!
  • Armies (presumably) were present on the planet map. There are two very large Orks on the planet that they showed off, and they seem to fit the classic Total War vibe of, "here's a dude that you move around on a map, he represents the army he leads."
  • The location of a fleet will be very significant for ground battles. If, while you are engaged in combat, there is a fleet overhead, you can call upon your ships to provide you with fire support of different types (like the orbital laser we saw in the trailer).
  • No news about the UI or combat directly.

Real World

  • We will have no more news until the end of June. It's gonna be a long wait.

Total War: Warhammer 40,000 hasn’t even been released yet, and I’m already counting the days. But I can’t be the only one wondering: what if they eventually make a Total War: Horus Heresy?

After all, we got three Warhammer Fantasy titles before a 40K game was even announced. So… does a Horus Heresy game make sense? Could it actually happen?

As a Warhammer fan, I love the idea. That said, I understand why some people might not be as excited. The roster would essentially consist of the nine Loyalist Legions and the nine Traitor Legions, meaning no Tyranids, Orks, or other Xenos factions.

Still, the potential is incredible. We’d have all the Primarchs on the battlefield and the chance to reshape iconic moments of the Heresy, like the Dropsite Massacre, the Burning of Prospero, or even the Siege of Terra.

That alone would make it unforgettable.

PSA: I'm a newish fan to 40k, and will be making total war 40k as my first total war game. So this idea is more so a concept I wish is cool. Also a massive lore head

Very big hope for total war 40k is the ability to wage war across multiple systems. It might be to much to manage on any one front, yet this would simulate how your forces could spread out in multiple directions. Having one army battling in a small one or two world system. Then another waging war in larger systems, and it feels so cool. This isn't anything to wild to me, yet I have no frame of reference so take as you will.

Coustumisation of TWW40k and How will DLCs work.

A lot of people are asking if Certain Regiments or Chapters will be in game relese. The Game is suposed to have fully coustumisable factions so if it aint there, just make it yourself!
And watch this video if you want sources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBHS4xyn7as
DLC will most likely be with parts for the coustumisation tool not with the factions.

Since Rome and since then all armies have the same limit of units and it's always plays 20vs20. I think I am just tired of it and cap on a point system will at least give a bigger variety on army sizes.

I can't have a one army of cheap trash units be a viable strategy because enemy will have army the same size with same amount and better units. Yes, I want to drown my enemies in thousands cheap clan rats/bugs. It's a silly thing to complain in previous TW Warhammer because I can just make an entire new army and have two armies following eachother and fight but I think all armies 20 cap units have to go.

Just sharing some thoughts after reading a lot of speculation.

After the recent showcase (and even when the first trailer dropped), I dont think it's a mystery at how formations are going to work.

Purely just some of the formation styles:

Ork squads = TWW peasant mob / skaven inf

Terminators (and i suspect tac marines) = TWW Troll

Guard = slightly loose version of more typical formations. Each rank line is offset (left + right) from the one in front or behind with little forward scattering

With that said i'm not saying its a bad or a good thing, that's up to you to decide. I just read a lot of speculation on this topic where i think people may be complicating it in their minds, when the answer is more simple.

Indeed it's early, things can and will change, but i suspect that for formations this is how it is and that it will stay like this.

We'll see though

For me it's gotta be Deathshroud terminators, sword breatherin and inner circle companions. Please feel free to use pictures to show me your vision (if that is allowed on the sub and such)

I love me some hungry bugs. And I think mindlessly conquering territories on a planet in this game with Tyranids will be insanely fun. I look forward to playing them one day. Along with Necrons.

1 hour 30 mins in for the Total War 40k stuff.

What we see.

A planet in more detail (it looks huge). With confirmation again that Systems and planets are semi-random in Crusades.

Battle maps in some locations with confirmation of destructible terrain.

Rank and file guardsman (who would have thought it).
