First season3 tierlist. What are your thoughts on this?
I find it very accurate what stack has cooked up

I find it very accurate what stack has cooked up
Since the start of Season 3 I haven't really been motivated to play tekken at all. Then Law got nerfed (very rightfully so) and my motivation dropped even more. However yesterday I was like f it and just played on evening. Played very strong and won every match. Proud to display the Tekken God rank at 100% winrate!
Here’s a cleaner, more natural version that still keeps your voice:
I’m getting back into Tekken after almost a year off (used to play Steve). Coming back, I decided to pick up Hwoarang, and I definitely underestimated him. The amount you have to keep in your head is exhausting.
Don’t get me wrong, when you hit that flow state it feels amazing. But then there are those moments where everything drops and you forget your inputs and it’s just like… come on.
I just hit Eternal Ruler, which is my highest rank so far, but I know I’ve still got a lot to learn. Right now it feels like my biggest hurdle is actually remembering my options in the moment.
I know it’s not something that clicks overnight, but if anyone has tips on how they memorize and retain their moveset, I’d really appreciate it.
This is the Tekken community’s ranked virgin purist argument. Now let me absolutely destroy all these manchildren crying about rankflation.
According to you guys, ranked is too easy. It doesn’t *mean* anything anymore. Tekken 7 was so much better, it was so hard to rank up! Wait.. people have always said ranked was a joke in every FG ever made?? What?? https://www.reddit.com/r/Tekken/s/Agj1MgFEdU
Here’s something the coping neckbeard manchild will never comprehend:
Tekken 8 has EIGHT more ranks above Fujin than Tekken 7 does. So what does the manchild do with this information? Do they account for the disparity? Or do they compare Tekken 7 and Tekken 8 Fujin 1:1 like a petulant child who plugs their ears? I assume the latter.
Next, if ranked is too easy- why are you not up there with the GoD V+ ranks? Maybe it’s too hard then dummie?
Oh, but the goalpost moves. “Fujin meant so much more in Tekken 7!!! Now it’s a beginner rank.” - refer back to the statement where Tekken 8 has a lot more ranks above Fujin. Math is hard for the neckbeard elitist, I know.
Lastly, if the argument is “this lower rank that is well below the highest ranks in the game means less than it did in previous game so therefore ranked is a joke”, then you are huffing some incomprehensibly high levels of copium that I refuse to engage with.
Get GoD V+ and then maybe you can talk about how “easy” ranked is.
Neckbeard clowns. 🤡
so ive never actually touched a fighting game before (maybe smash bro’s twice a year), and i boight tekken 8 cause my friends were playing it.
i have about 40 hours on here, maybe less or alot less in game time, also being told lili is hard for first time fighting gamers.
i think im hitting a crossroad though in red and orange ranks, still learning bit if anyone had any tips for me, i would gladly appreciate it
I haven't played in about a year, is the game still on fire?
So on the main sub the sentiment is that anything under like GoD 2 is meaningless and any idiot scrub can get to GoD with a 1% winrate. They invalidate anyone’s progress by saying “this is green ranks in Tekken 7 little bro”, and incessantly whine about rankflation.
I’m sure these miserable neckbeards are the first to shit on LTG, but the ironic part is their philosophy is 1:1 the same as LTG’s when it comes to elitism in FG (they’re not good players either).
Here’s common LTG quotes that they implicitly believe:
“That would’ve NEVER happened in Tekken 7, this games fake”
“Cut on Tekken 7. Show me how much of a Tekken God you are in a real Tekken. You wouldn’t even get a round off me”
“They just let any flo-Jo get top rank in this yolo trash.”
Best part like I said, is those incels on the main sub think they’re so cool dunking on LTG (who acts exactly like him to a T)
Wanna play someone a bit more straight forward was thinking maybe dragunov any tips on picking him up or possibly someone else
need to stop throwing harada under the bus now that he’s gone :( but it just rolls off the thumbs.
I keep struggling against his pressure and movement. Feels like he’s always in my face with stance transitions, and I’m not sure when it’s actually my turn. I’ve tried stepping and interrupting, but I get clipped a lot.
I’m defense first so if you’re wondering a lot of my wins come from my ability to be patient, find the pattern and adapt. Against Lars I get brain fatigue somewhat fast. The highlight of this one and done was this combo I landed. If it wasn’t clear he left with the W respect to him though.
What are the key things to look for in this matchup? Any tips on when to challenge or shut down his offense?
Thank the mvp at Bandai Namco who brought out the latest patch changes.
Not only was it my first time reaching GOD I, but with less coin flips and more small tekken, I enjoyed the process reaching there. Got lucky with the win streak but was by no means easy.
I really wish they would stop doing this. You know the first time it happened it wasn't such a big deal but considering how frustrating this game can be I'm really getting tired of them resetting us all the way back.
Really tired of leveling two characters all over again. Why do they actually have to do this?
Is there a functional reason why this has to happen?
I recently got Bryan to tekken emperor and am only 2-3 games from getting tekken god. I’ve decided it’s time to pick up a Mishima to help me master fundamentals of the game. Not only this but I’ve also decided to pick up leverless at the same time. It’s made me feel like I’m just picking up tekken for the first time again. I’ve spent the last two days just in practice mode just getting comfortable with movement and wave dashing, trying to reprogram my brain to understand the direction layout and am wondering if anyone has any tips to help me in my journey. For reference, I’ve been playing on stick since I first picked up tekken in S1. It might be an issue down the line but, I like the idea of using two different controllers for two different characters as switching characters previously my brain would mix up characters movesets. Again, any help would be much appreciated!
Lost this mirror match set, but happy to get the promo!
I’ve been interested in Tekken ever since I was a little kid watching my siblings play it on the PS1. I played Tekken 5, 6, and 7 casually, but never really understood the game. I mostly played story mode or mashed buttons with friends who were also just playing casually.
A few months ago, I saw Tekken 8 on sale and bought it with the intention of finally learning the game properly.
At first, I researched beginner-friendly characters, and Alisa was one of the most recommended. I picked her up and mostly learned simple strings without really understanding combos or fundamentals. Somehow, I managed to reach Fujin, but I started feeling like I wasn’t actually learning Tekken — I was just getting wins.
After that, I started watching videos about fundamentals: defense, punishment, sidestepping, movement, etc. Honestly, I feel like I’ve only learned maybe 10% of it so far. Around the same time, I also saw a lot of advice saying you should play a character you genuinely think is cool. Since I didn’t really like Alisa’s design or fighting style, I switched to Reina.
With Reina, I’ve been trying much harder to learn properly. I learned her stances, practiced her moveset, and spent time grinding EWGF consistency on controller. But despite all of that, I feel like I’m not improving at all — neither fundamentally nor with the character itself.
When I try to play “properly” by defending, punishing, and playing patiently, I often fail. I watch replays, look at the recommended punishments, and even do punishment training in practice mode, but once I’m in a real match, I can barely apply any of it.
What frustrates me the most is losing to players who just spam strings and random low mixups. I don’t mind losing when someone clearly outplays me with good defense and punishment, but losing to what feels like unga bunga gameplay honestly tilts me.
And when I get tilted, I end up falling back on cheesy Reina flowcharts like ff2 into stance -> 3+4 low / 3 or 4 mixups or grabs, and the worst part is… it works at my rank. I can win games doing that, but I feel like I’m not actually improving.
So now I’m stuck wondering:
- How do you actually improve at Tekken?
- Do I need to memorize every character’s moves to punish properly?
- Should I stop caring and just use cheesy stuff?
- Should I switch characters again?
- Am I approaching learning the game the wrong way?
- Or am I just bad and overthinking everything?
For reference, my Reina is currently Battle Ruler.
TL;DR:
Played Tekken casually my whole life, bought T8 to finally learn seriously. Started with Alisa and got Fujin, switched to Reina because I like her more. I practice fundamentals and punishment, but can’t apply them in real matches and keep losing to spam/mixups. I can win using cheesy flowcharts, but I don’t feel like I’m actually improving. How do people genuinely get good at Tekken?
