It would be so much better if, instead of the heat system, they just gave everyone an install. You earn it simply by landing a certain move, like a heatengager, but instead of granting you freight train mode and armor...You just get access to a 1-use token that changes some moves to their "heat enhanced" version. Once you do the move, hit or miss, it burns the install charge and you have to land one of the special moves again.

On top of that remove heat smashes altogether. Or, create some sort of sub charge (like you earn your install 3 times and then there is a complicated motion input that allows you to do a "heatsmash" style move.

Oh and chip damage. Launch that into the sun.
