I owned a Škoda Rapid, and honestly — I loved the car.
Among everything I’ve driven, it delivered one of the best driving experiences.

But ownership isn’t just about driving.
And that’s where things changed completely for me.

I had a moderate accident (no engine or gearbox parts except cover and compressor).

  • The car was damaged, but very much repairable
  • Nothing that should typically end a car’s life

Then came the estimate.

A few examples from it:

  • Subframe: ~₹1.1 lakh (was 14k till last year)
  • Passenger airbag: ~₹90k (generally 5 to 10k)
  • Driver airbag: ~₹63k
  • Steering assembly: ~₹58k

Total estimate: ₹10+ lakh (more than ex-showrrom price)

At that point, the insurance company declared it a total loss.

Let that sink in —
Not because the car couldn’t be repaired,
but because repairing it became financially absurd.

I escalated this and got a clear response:

  • These prices are standardized
  • This is how parts are priced
  • This is “as per company norms”

Which leads to the real problem:

👉 Your car’s fate isn’t decided by damage
👉 It’s decided by how expensive its parts are

And this is something most buyers never consider.

The outcome for me:

  • I lost a car I genuinely loved
  • The insurance payout won’t replace what I had
  • And now, I can’t justify buying the same brand again — even if I want to

This is not an emotional rant.
This is a practical reality check.

If you're buying a car, ask yourself:
“In a real-world accident, will this car still be repairable — or will pricing write it off?”

Because I learned the answer the hard way.

My 3 and a half year old slavia’s battery died today morning. I still have 6 months of warranty left on my car and I heard somewhere we have to get the battery replaced at the service centre only as they to code the auto engine start/stop feature and if I get it replaced someplace else it voids warranty. Please let me know if this true the service centre is quoting 12k for battery replacement including labour

I’m dealing with a very frustrating situation with Volkswagen India and could really use some advice.

Car: Volkswagen Virtus GT 1.5 DSG
Purchase Date: 22 Nov 2022
KMs driven: ~45,000
Warranty valid till: Nov 2026

What happened:
On 6th April around 8:30 PM, my car broke down at a signal near Virinchi Hospitals (Masab Tank, Hyderabad). The issue at that time seemed to be engine oil leakage, and the car just stopped.

The car was taken to Mody Volkswagen Mehdipatnam.

What they are claiming:
They’ve diagnosed it as “hydrostatic lock in cylinder 1”.

Why this doesn’t make sense to me:

* The video THEY shared does not show any water contamination in engine oil
* No proper technical report has been provided
* They’re not clearly explaining how hydrolock even occurred
* I am not being allowed to properly inspect my own vehicle
* Volkswagen India is just sending generic replies, no real help

The shocking part:
They are asking me to pay ~₹8 LAKHS for a full engine replacement.

My concerns:

* Can hydrolock even happen without visible water contamination?
* Could oil leakage alone cause such engine failure?
* Are they misdiagnosing to avoid warranty coverage?
* Is it normal for a service center to restrict access to your own car?

At this point, I feel like I’m being pushed into an expensive repair without proper justification.

If this isn’t resolved properly under warranty, I’m seriously considering taking this to Consumer Court.

Would really appreciate:

* Technical opinions (especially from mechanics/engineers)
* Anyone who has faced similar issues with Volkswagen
* Legal advice on how strong this case is

This whole experience has been extremely disappointing so far.

My VW taigun 1.0 litr MT has run only about 33,000 km, and it has already encountered what appears to be a major engine-related issue. There was loud engine rattling (tak-tak) sound all of a sudden while driving with my family.

I stalled the car and towed it to the service center . It's been 2 weeks and the only detail i got is "technical centre is guiding us , we are doing work" .. Nothing specific. Just pushing time. It's in warranty.

But one thing they said is it's mostly from Engine head. They might need to open the engine. But not confirmed yet.

However, given the complexity, the estimated resolution timeline is around 2 months.

If an engine is opened and repaired at such a low mileage, can it truly be relied upon again with full confidence? Practically speaking, once a major engine teardown happens, there is always a lingering doubt about performance consistency, fitment precision, and future issues.

I already faced a situation where I am stuck in late evening in highway with my family n 2 yr old kid waiting for towing truck. With this re-assembled engine i don't have confidence .

This raises important question about the reliability of the 1.0 TSI engine. If this engine is considered reliable, then could this be an isolated defective unit? In such a case, should a full engine replacement be considered instead of repair?

This brings up another important point:

In such cases, is it reasonable to expect the manufacturer to provide a temporary replacement or loaner vehicle? For metro city it's necessary.

I am raising this not as a complaint, but as a genuine question about ownership experience and brand accountability. When a brand positions itself as “world-class,” how should customers interpret and expect support in situations like this?

Hello Everyone, I am thinking of buying Volkswagen Polo trendline 2015, registered in 2015 from cars 24, I think I am getting a deal but I had some doubts it says only 16215km driven, 1st owner, on cars 24 it says it has 24 repainted parts, but also says odometer is tampered free.

If you guys require any more information happy to share that as well.

Thank you!

Hey everyone, long post but need some help - this has been a nightmare 45 days and I’m quite confused on what to do here.
I own a **Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo 1.0 TSI AT**, purchased **October 2024, \~24,000 km**, well maintained. Last serviced at TAFE Access, Kudlu Road, Bangalore in September 2025 - no issues flagged.

# What happened:

March 10, 2026 - while coming back home I faced a bump on the road. This is typical for Haralur Road. While parking at home, the car suddenly wouldn’t shift into Park mode. I used the manual key release to secure it, called Skoda Roadside Assistance the next morning, and had it towed to **TAFE Access, Kudlu Road**. I was not there when they towed the vehicle or at the service centre to receive it.
The car had been running perfectly — I’d driven to Hyderabad and back just 2-3 days before this happened.

# What TAFE said:

Over the next 6 weeks, they told me that there’s an underbody damage on gearbox side, gear oil sump issue. Can’t proceed without insurance surveyor. Then said full gearbox needs replacement. Price quote was around 7.4L.
This week (after we pushed for diagnostic report): Email from their Aftersales team saying “diagnostic log shows selector lever issue” - but still recommending gearbox replacement.

Regarding the diagnostic report - On April 27, after significant difficulty - the executive first refused to share it saying I wasn’t entitled to it, then claimed it was deleted, then searched 6 different systems saying he couldn’t find it - we finally got the ODIS diagnostic report (dated on 16th March) through his manager. At one point he googled the part to show us what it meant and then was surprised that it was just a micro switch and didn’t indicate a problem with the gearbox. He showed us screens of a system they use - Autadex and randomly pointed to the screen and said gearbox is damaged (screen didn’t indicate any such thing)

# The diagnostic report shows:

Address 0002 — 6-speed automatic gearbox — ZERO faults. Not one.
The only gear-related fault: B116229 — Selector lever park position lock switch, implausible signal.

Their own diagnostic report, from their own system, on their own ODIS said that it was a micro switch problem and not gearbox as a whole.
We also drove the car forward and reverse in their yard on April 27. It moved fine. Video recorded.

# The insurance situation:

We filed a claim with Digit Insurance. Their field surveyor came, saw underbody rust, and rejected the claim — saying the rust indicates old damage and owner negligence. He never asked for or reviewed the ODIS diagnostic report. Made the decision based entirely on visual inspection and TAFE’s verbal word.
When we visited Digit’s office, the Karnataka State Manager verbally told us that there’s are two damage pattern and one of them looks “horizontal not vertical” and implied we may have caused it intentionally. Because only vertical dents are possible while driving - horizontal are not. When we asked for this in writing, he refused.
He also told us TAFE had asked if Digit could pay 40-50% as a settlement — and concluded we must be colluding with TAFE. We had no knowledge of this suggestion whatsoever.

Further, I has asked Digit to come with me to see the car - had an altercation there - they refused to see the diagnostic report or even listen to me. I kept requesting them to listen to me but they kept shouting.
They said that there’s rust is 1 year old+ - whereas I didn’t receive any such info from TAFE when I got the car serviced last year.
He keeps saying I have purposely caused damage to my own vehicle and the proof is the horizontal damage. He refuses to listen to anything.
Infact the service guys also tried talking to them and asking that if it’s just an oil sump issue will you pay for anything and he said he won’t pay for anything at all and walked off.

Now TAFE guys are telling me (not the executive who didn’t want to share the report - the manager I spoke to this time) that maybe it’s not such a big issue - they can open the oil sump and check the issue from inside. They won’t know much without opening. But the moment they open it my warranty will be void and I won’t be able to claim anything in insurance

What I know from research: **B116229** seems to be a known VW Group issue - affects all VW group AT models.

# Where we are now:

\- Car still at TAFE (45+ days)
\- This week got a low battery voltage notification on Skoda Connect
\- Planning to move the car to another authorized Skoda service center
\- Digit claim is formally rejected twice — I’m thinking of mailing Digit Grievance and asking for help or I’ll raise to Ombudsman

# What I’m asking:

\- If the second service centre also says that they won’t know anything until they open the gearbox and the insurance has already rejected my claim twice - should I wait to get help via Ombudsman? Or should I open it anyway - and see what the issue is. Chances that it’s minor (given the report) or even if it’s major - get it repaired locally.

\- If I do end up opening it and getting it repaired locally - is my warranty on the car as a whole void? What will happen to my insurance?

\- What are the chances that Ombudsman will listen to my issues and make Digit pay for this? Also how much time can this take?

\- Any way I can get Škoda to help here? Seems to me that the service centre guys were lying.

\- I’m taking it to Raja Škoda Mahadevpura now - if you have any other recommendations for a service centre that can give the right advice pls suggest

\- Also, has anyone faced any such thing? Or you happen to know what the problem could be? Could the road impact have dislodged things inside the gearbox?

Also for context - I drive the car daily to and from work. 30 Kms atleast daily. And live in Haralur - bumps and bad roads are quite common. Never faced any other issue. In the absence of the car - I’ve had to rely on other means and costs are running high + frustrated at not having my own car

Please suggest what I can do - really need any help I can get. Please let me know if any of you want any details to understand the situation better.

We welcomed a baby today!

This is a 2023 second hand Slavia 1.0 TSI Style Top Variant with 41k on the odo. Got all the checks and service history verified before finalising it. The deal was closed at ₹10 lakh, all ownership paperwork has been transferred, and now this Czech machine is officially part of our family 🥰🥰🥰

We’re absolutely loving it, especially my mom in the back seat it’s super comfortable for her. The car drives beautifully and honestly, I can’t explain the feeling. It puts a smile on my face every single time I sit behind the wheel. Dad is happy too and that makes it even more special.

A little backstory we had planned to buy a car within a ₹13 lakh budget and had shortlisted the Kylaq, Elevate, and Venue. We were already leaning towards Skoda because of the safety, look, and overall feel. Then out of nowhere, one of our relatives contacted my dad saying he wanted to sell his Slavia because he was being urgently transferred to another border city. We took a test ride checked the car thoroughly and instantly finalised it. Everything just fell perfectly into place sometimes life really surprises you in the best way. The best part was getting it without any EMI hassle and the transfer process was smooth as well. Feeling genuinely very happy and grateful.

Fellow Slavia owners, do share any advice or suggestions about the car. I’ve already shortlisted getting a good dashcam, probably a 70mai, and I’m planning to change the tyres around the 50k mark. For now, everything looks and feels great.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some perspective from fellow Taigun owners. My car has been sitting at Triumph VW Gurgaon for 23 days now just waiting for a rear windshield replacement.

The service center keeps giving me different excuses - first it was "in transit," then "international shipping delays,", then shipment from Pune and now they’re saying the part hasn't even been dispatched. It's frustrating because VW claims high localization for the Taigun, yet a basic piece of glass is taking nearly a month to source.

Has anyone else dealt with Triumph Gurgaon or faced similar delays for body parts?

Is it normal for parts to take this long, or am I being taken for a ride?

Would love to know if anyone else has been through this and how you got them to speed things up.

Escalated to VW India leaders but nothing is moving.

Thanks!

I travelled to Bengaluru last night from Chennai and hit a stone in the road after reaching my destination.

Oil sensor failure, EPC and check engine light on. There are no oil leaks but some scrapping and a visible dent. Wire to the sump is cut which is probably throwing the oil sensor error.

Is it safe to drive back to Chennai slowly or tow it to a nearby service centre. I'm at Bendiganahalli. Skoda RSA is suggesting Raja Skoda Service. Is it fine or should I consider PPS.

TLDR: Dent in engine sump and oil sensor wire cut. Is it safe to drive back to Chennai from Bengaluru. If not suggest the best service centre near Bendiganahalli.

My car Taigun GT Plus 1.5 DSG randomly got a check engine light, on the VW connect app I observed P2b60 fault code.

Car is driving fine, do I need to get worried?

I will get it checked at the service centre but I am in a remote area and the nearest service center is 200 kms. Let me know if this is an emergency and I should get RSA or try driving to the service center.

I have completed 1 year and my first service is due. Can you share your experience, things I should keep in mind, tips on how I can save some costs or any other useful info?

Also my nearest service center is Moti Bagh, Delhi. My initial experiences there have not been very good so do you recommend any other service center worth visiting?

A week back in the morning, I started my car, usually it starts crawling as soon as I lift my foot from the brake. But that day it took slightly longer so I pushed the accelerator without thinking much. Just after 1 km on signal stop got message displayed to depress brake paddle. Then, on the next crossing, it started to show warning of the selector lever (for a fraction of a second, at random intervals).

I then went to the nearest service centre and the car is there for a week now. The service centre people are unable to diagnose the cause. They checked for the rat bit and fuse, both are okay. Now, they are saying it might be the problem in mechatronics. They also said that they need special equipment to diagnose it which is coming from the Chezch Republic (I think this part is bull shit).

Other details which might be helpful:

- The car is 3 years old and has 23000 km on Odometer. Single person driven till date and driven it with utmost care.

- Use it for daily commute (heavy traffic)

- first owner.

- shows 100 driving score on the Skoda app after every drive.

Looking for advice from experienced folks. What should I do?

Hey guys, planning to pick up the Kushaq Classic Plus Manual soon. If you’ve taken delivery, could you help me with a few quick details?

Price: What was the total on-road price and which city? Any discounts or insurance savings?

Accessories: Which official ones are worth it? Is the reverse camera a must-get from the dealer?

Performance: How’s the 1.0 TSI manual feeling in the city? AC performance okay?

Colors: Which color looks best for this variant? Can’t decide between Carbon Steel, Steel Grey, or the blue.

Thanks!

Those who have driven the new facelift Kushaq 1.0 and 1.5, did you experience any difference in the ride quality between the two or any noticeable differences in suspension setup etc? Just a curiosity question based on one of the YouTube reviews.

Edit: I’m aware of the engine/gearbox related performance differences. This question is specific to ride quality only. Hope it makes sense. Thanks.
