My car (VW taigun) engine had an internal mechanical failure just at 33k kms of usage. It's still under 1.5 years of warranty.

Due to this car I got stranded on the highway with my family.

I towed the vehicle to the nearest service center.

All this happened in Hyderabad, and I am from in Bangalore. So the car is in hyd and I came back banglore.

Current Status:

  1. It's been 3 weeks. They just ordered parts rocker arms and turbocharger.ETA is 4-5 days. some parts are not available in India. no ETA for those.

2.they did not confirm that the root cause is due to rockers and turbocharger. They are gonna just try out

3.looking at all the trial and error and R&D process, it may take around 2 months

My only point is:

I spent lakhs of rupees at Volkswagen, to make my life easier in a metro city (banglore). I travel 19kms daily for office commute in my car.

Due to this brand, first thing is an unexpected major product failure, and second is inspite of spending lakhs, i have to bare a financial burden for next 2 months.

How should I ask VW to compensate me for next two months.

Atleast a loaner car will give me lot of relief, as they are taking their sweet time to do all R&D on my car now.

I can't be waiting 2 months or more, for their failed product and trial and error process.

If engine needs to be opened, I want an engine replacement. Can I be able to claim it??

Coz, such a new engine, dismantled and assembled, doesn't give me any confidence to take it again on highways with my wife and 2 yr old toddler.

My VW taigun 1.0 litr MT has run only about 33,000 km, and it has already encountered what appears to be a major engine-related issue. There was loud engine rattling (tak-tak) sound all of a sudden while driving with my family.

I stalled the car and towed it to the service center . It's been 2 weeks and the only detail i got is "technical centre is guiding us , we are doing work" .. Nothing specific. Just pushing time. It's in warranty.

But one thing they said is it's mostly from Engine head. They might need to open the engine. But not confirmed yet.

However, given the complexity, the estimated resolution timeline is around 2 months.

If an engine is opened and repaired at such a low mileage, can it truly be relied upon again with full confidence? Practically speaking, once a major engine teardown happens, there is always a lingering doubt about performance consistency, fitment precision, and future issues.

I already faced a situation where I am stuck in late evening in highway with my family n 2 yr old kid waiting for towing truck. With this re-assembled engine i don't have confidence .

This raises important question about the reliability of the 1.0 TSI engine. If this engine is considered reliable, then could this be an isolated defective unit? In such a case, should a full engine replacement be considered instead of repair?

This brings up another important point:

In such cases, is it reasonable to expect the manufacturer to provide a temporary replacement or loaner vehicle? For metro city it's necessary.

I am raising this not as a complaint, but as a genuine question about ownership experience and brand accountability. When a brand positions itself as “world-class,” how should customers interpret and expect support in situations like this?
