Bought the waffle maker 🤣

In Florence today and visited Rimowa with no intention of buying anything and left with the waffle maker. At first I wasn't sure about the style, but after spending too much time in the store, I had to buy it. No regrets. I've been wanting a breifcase for a long time.

Check your purchase before you walkout of the Rimowa store

I bought a classic from the Rimowa website and picked up in the store. I got home and checked the inside, both the travel tag and stickers were missing. And i couldn’t register the warranty. Called customer service then found out it’s a return item and someone had already registered it.

Good thing is that they let me do a 1 to 1 exchange. The SA told me that any unused return item should have been inspected before sold it to other customers. But i guess they miss sometimes…

Just check your purchase before you go home!

titanium classic + cactus tag combo

Finally decided to pull the trigger on the new-ish titanium classic color way, was also lucky enough to pair it with the cactus luggage tag as they are doing away with that color. cleanest combo imo.

Rimowa fixed my wheel after I returned home on my first trip, but now I’m just scared to use this suitcase again. I haven’t taken it in yet to be fixed, but these trunks are HEAVY when packed. Im petrified to take it in a third trip and risk it breaking again. I was so excited to upgrade this winter, but my Rimowa experience has been such a disappointment thus far.

Any recommendations on how to talk to the store or Corporate about it? I haven’t taken a trip where the suitcase hasn’t broke.

EDIT: What’s John Summit? lol

EDIT #2: The common denominator between the two international flights is that both times it arrived back to LAX broken. The suitcase was ok when I was abroad, so it’s something about coming BACK to LAX that’s causing the damage.

UPDATE: Rimowa told me if it happens a third time they’ll replace it, but breaking twice in two trips could just be a “coincidence”

How should I handle this?

This must’ve happened on a flight last week. Didn’t notice until boarding my flight this week.

Should I still file a claim with airline or do we think Rimowa functional warrantee could cover this? There’s sharp metal on the interior of the suitcase now.

TIA <3

Gloss slate grey or gloss green? (Essential Trunk Plus)

Hi peeps, literally only writing as I’m torn between these two colours for an Essential Trunk Plus. I realise it’s about personal preference but wanted to see if there’s anything I’ve not thought of outside of simple preference which would swing it for me. Thanks!

I really need some advice because this whole situation feels insane to me.

Back in late February, I bought a Rimowa Distinct suitcase in the US using my Bank of America debit card. Rimowa shipped it with UPS, but UPS delivered it to the wrong person or wrong address, and I never received it.

The delivery was signed by someone else, not me. I never saw the suitcase or even the box, but UPS still marked it as delivered.

I contacted Rimowa many times. Every time they told me to wait around two weeks while they investigated with UPS. I waited almost half a month each time, only to receive the exact same response:

“UPS confirmed delivery, therefore we cannot offer compensation.”

They have now rejected me three times.

What frustrates me the most is that it feels like nobody wants to take responsibility. I paid for an expensive suitcase and received absolutely nothing. Rimowa just keeps pushing everything onto UPS and telling me there’s nothing more they can do.

But as the customer, how is this acceptable? The signature isn’t mine, and I never received the item, yet they keep closing the case just because UPS says “delivered.”

I also contacted Bank of America, but the bank told me they need more cooperation from the merchant for the investigation, and so far all I’ve gotten from Rimowa are rejection emails.

At this point I genuinely don’t know what else I’m supposed to do. File a police report? Keep disputing with the bank? Small claims court? File a consumer protection complaint?

And for such an expensive package, I assumed the shipment would be insured. If UPS misdelivered it, why am I the one taking the loss?

If anyone has dealt with something similar before, I’d really appreciate some advice.

They belong together

Just picked up the pilot case. One of those things i have been wanting for a long time but never certain how useful it will be. But you also only turn 40 once, so here we go!

DJ/Producer John Summit posted this to Instagram stories (@johnsummit) a couple of days ago going through 6 suitcases this year.

He then followed it with an Instagram reel throwing his suitcase around and hammering it (which in my opinion the suitcase handled pretty well) and then lighting it on fire.

Away (@away) responded with an Instagram reel lighting their suitcase on fire.

This got me thinking, if a suitcase can be hammered and flung around as seen in the video, what force is being exerted on the examples shown in this Sub-Reddit? Ironically my Salsa was damaged beyond repair by Lufthansa after 10+ years of great service!

Check in L (Original vs Essential )

Hi everyone, I plan to get my first Rimowa for my Europe trip I’m going to this summer though I’m debating which one to get… JAL gave me $500 worth of VISA gift cards due to a flight cancellation. I called Rimowa if I could pay $500 with gift cards and the rest with my card and they said yes.

With that being said I’ve been on the hunt to look for the best one for me… I’m in my early 20’s trying to do more international trips that are usually 9 days minimum - 16 days. Most airlines check in weight limit is 50 LBS and I’m wondering if the orginal already limits me😭 so I’ve considered the essential or even the Hybrid…. (Maybe like 4 flights year round)

What do you guys think?

My albeit understated combo

My heart was set on a proper proper classic. But dang it that weight difference and the fact that I could literally squeeze in more inside the essential just made flip the script. I travel quite a bit within Asia, and when u r flying economy every single extra gram counts lol.

Tried to get the matte blue. Was available as well but then the thought of getting it all scratched up with my first taxi ride itself made me get a mini panic attack in the Rimowa store itself.

Got the slate gray essential. Popped for a new set of shoes. Was a happy man. And boy o boy - first trip itself, got it scratched whilst the cab driver took it outta his boot (I was too late in trying to him tell that I would get it myself 😫).

But I figured - it’s a piece of luggage at the end of the day. It’s gonna get dinged up. Roll with it.

Loving the wheels. Although when fully packed to the gills and on Singaporean airport carpets - u gotta apply some force. Ain’t complaining. Just an observation.

Overall - would never advise anyone to get the essential check-in luggage. My carry on itself feels quite flimsy and that’s with me and the cab drivers handling it. Not sure what would happen with the airport luggage handlers.

As for the carry on itself. If u r always travelling business and weight ain’t a concern - aluminium all the way. If weight is a concern - essential, hands down. If u ain’t worried about the brand snob value and the perceived value of the lifetime warranty - pls, save your money.

A Rimowa is definitely a personal statement. Not a pragmatic one ofc. I dropped a bomb on it knowing full well the pros and cons. Hence moi happy. Do not pull the trigger if u ain’t a 100% sure.

Happy travels!!!

Could Rimowa fix this?

This crack has been getting bigger over the past couple of trips. Is this something Rimowa or another repair service can fix? Any idea how much it might cost?

Hi, I contacted Rimowa service and they quoted me around $250 for a repair since my warranty has expired. The service would include replacing the zipper and general maintenance, but they mentioned it wouldn’t come back “like new.”

Do you think it’s worth going ahead with the repair?
what does the “general maintenance” usually include?

I’ve got an old 33” Topas which has been checked a few hundred times throughout its 15 year life. Lately the upper part of the case started to develop an aperture in the seal. It’s not visible on the photo but part where the handle is attached is bent inwards. I’m wondering if this is something that can be fixed with the frame alignment at Rimowa. The case opens and closes fine otherwise. Has anyone gone through something similar with their older bag?
