My Quest Pro’s USB-C port died a while back, and honestly I was pretty close to just throwing the whole headset away. I tried different cables, angles, chargers, and all the usual “maybe it’ll magically work this time” rituals, but it kept getting worse until it basically became an expensive paperweight. I couldn’t justify buying another headset when the rest of it still worked perfectly, so one night I decided to do something completely ridiculous and tore apart the charging dock to see if I could somehow feed power directly into the headset. At first it just made the screen go black because the headset thought it was docked, and I genuinely thought I had finally killed it for good, but after a lot of trial and error, soldering tiny wires, and making increasingly questionable engineering decisions with tape and zip ties everywhere, it suddenly worked. Now it charges while I play, and even though it looks like something salvaged from a sci-fi junkyard, I weirdly love it more now than when it was stock.

2.3 is a disaster, what issues have you had so far?

  • The Quest UI is laggier and clunkier than ever (I think it was 2.1 with the UI major change)
  • Playspace boundary resets every time I take the headset off. Only fix is to restart the headset.
  • A lot more "Unable to Validate Identity" errors when using Virtual Desktop than ever before. Sometimes I have to restart headset 3 times to fix this

Used Quest Pro, left on V60, how to disable auto-updates on a used headset or update?

Just got the headset I was talking about earlier however the person I bought this from didn't reset the headrest and I'm stuck on V60. I've seen multiple posts saying that I shouldn't update, so I've been trying to see what I can do, but it seems the owner never turned on ADB as ADB isn't detecting the headset, should I still try and disable updates or just update the Quest Pro to the latest version? I still need to download Virtual Desktop and log into my own Meta account, what should I do?

Left Controller unable to connect, led flashing long - short, notification showing disconnected every few seconds

My quest pro controller started behaving weirdly.

Doesn't stay connected. When powered on, the led flashes in a weird pattern: One long for the left led, and one blink on the right led. There are no documentation showing this led pattern.

I believe the controller is able to pair with my headset. However, it stays connected for a short bit before a notification pops up saying it's been disconnected.

I tested the input by checking the joystick deadzones, and the joystick responds for a short while before it stops working, then starts working again.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Clickbait title but true.

I just found my Quest Pro being COMPLETELY DEAD even though I almost had it charged every day and I used it very lightly. No LED lights, no "hold these buttons to boot or reset", nothing worked.

Leaving it on the stand overnight, as well as trying to charge with a phone charger etc, nothing worked because it was refusing to charge.

I ended up opening the battery compartment and measuring voltage (2.71v) which is deeply discharged but not terrible.

So I ordered a 3$ TP4056 charger and directly charged it for 10 minutes and it went up to 3.5v.

I then connected the battery to the headset's own wiring and let it charge through its normal charger and guess what, it's charging!

Just FYI, this is an out of warranty device and I went through Meta twice and unfortunately the support were suggesting holding the power + volume down, as well as wanting me to boot the device in boot mode and Adb using a PC, consistently ignoring the fact that it's dead.

I even offered to pay for repairs by Meta and they said they won't do it for out of warranty devices. I almost lost a 1500$ product for a simple discharge issue.

I attached some pictures to better show the wiring.

⚠️ Please, do NOT attempt this if you're not experienced with this type of modification, power circuitry or electronics. It might be worth going to a console repair shop and asking them to do it for you or replace the batteries, before wanting to spend on a new VR headset.

⚠️ Also, lithium batteries 🪫 are notoriously dangerous if they are poked. Be very careful.

Some details:

  1. I soldered two wires to the charger TP4056 then checked with a voltmeter to verify the polarity.

  2. I then connected the charger to a USB-C power Bank. The charger showed a blue light 🔵. TP4056 has a shutdown system that if there's no power consumption it may turn itself off ⚪. So make sure before that happens that you do this next step.

  3. Touch the PACKN pins with the negative ➖ wire coming out of the TP4056, and the PACKP pins with the positive ➕ wire. In other words, positive to positive, and negative to negative. Do not trust the wire colors, check with a volt meter to be sure.

  4. You should now see TP4056 led turn red 🔴, that means it's charging. If you see blue 🔵, you have not made contact ❌. Try again from step 2. Note that the TP4056 may get hot to the touch due to pulling current. But if you see smoke or a smell, please immediately stop.

  5. Just hold the wires connected for a minute or two.

  6. Now disconnect and check the battery voltage again. If it is rising then we're on track ✅.

  7. Do step 3 again for a couple of more minutes and check again like step 6. Do this until you have over 3 volts which will allow the quest pro's own charger to respond.

  8. Now just disconnect the battery from the TP4056 and connect the battery back to quest pro and use a usb charger to charge it. Again check the battery voltage while not charging, make sure it is rising.

If it goes over 4.1 volt then congrats 👏, your saved the battery 🔋. Now pack the whole thing up and enjoy your achievement.

Try leaving it until it is fully charged before attempting to turn it on.

I hope this helps someone else.

Only right eye tracking not working

I've been using this headset for only 4 months and just the other day my right eye wouldn't blink. I ran calibrations and test and when I closed my left eye it would jitter in the same spot, I factory reset and cleaned the hell out of it and it came back just for a couple days and now it back to jittery in the same spot. Any ideas to fix it or is it a new one angle

Getting a Quest Pro soon, and was curious on how or what I can do to make sure the sensors doesn’t become damaged? I sweat a bit with my Quest 3 and it makes me scared enough to ask what I can do to make sure one of the selling points of this headset doesn’t die on me >->

boundary from roomscale to stationary when taking off headset for short period of time.

Anybody else experiencing it doing that? Its been happening since yesterday and i keep having to grab my Quest Pro controllers to redo my boundary. Hope there's a way to turn it off but most likely not knowing Meta.

Getting a sweat pro

Hey I'm just getting a quest pro off eBay and I'm worried about the sweat killing face traxking issue. Should I sweat proof it with silicone using a guide online?

Update: it worked! But I'm am idiot so there's a screw in my headset

I'm not going to pretend making software for stuff is easy. It's obviously something that requires a bazillion dollars and 1000 government contracts, but maybe we can work out the basic stuff before we send out the updates to the supposed High End product?

Why is the user experience on the Quest Pro the worst thing I've ever had to interface with in my life? Why do things just constantly not work correctly ever? Every single time I put on this headset there is something fucked up.

For starters, when I turn on the headset, there is a black screen, or a passthrough or something. Sorry, didn't you know? You are supposed to press the power button twice so you can get to the actual main screen. Okay, no problem.

Let's try hand tracking. What is that sound? It sounds like the sound when adjust your playspace... a relaxing corporate ambient hum.......... mmmmmmMMMMmmmmmmmMMmmmm

Oh wait it doesn't go away when I do anything besides restart my headset... my bad I guess I should've known to never use the features of the thing I paid for

Every single thing about this "OS" is clunky and anti user-friendly. On the Quest 2, I have had similar stupid things happen, but it felt way more reliable than the Quest Pro. It feels like they have one guy who is bored as fuck just shitting out updates to this thing.

The only good thing about this headset is the eye/face tracking, everything else feels like a slop Android clone with a new issue showing up every time you update.

Maybe it's just a skill issue on my part, but I feel like I've never had such a bad user experience on any other thing I've used. There is some issue on the software side every time I use this headset, between dumb UI decisions and things you can't get rid of and things that just break on their own without even doing anything. I only use this as a PCVR headset at this point, if there was a way to completely remove the Zuckerberg slop on this thing and use some kind of open source replacement, I would literally pay more just to use it

I block my headset from the internet so I can control updates and not be forced to install updates that I don't want

I'm currently on v83 and its the best one I've had in a while (low bar I know). It solved the sparkling issue with VD (VD & DCS is my main use case) although the controllers are still a hot mess and barely usable

Should I stay on v83 or update to whatever the latest is?

And what is the latest public release these days (I'm not on PTC). Is it 2.1 or 2.2?

Hi everyone,

I just recently got a quest pro off marketplace for a whopping $200 and have set up the headset fine.

I do not have ethernet and am not close to my router/modem (I'm on the second floor, router/modem is on the first. I am getting better wifi soon, but for now it's pretty shitty.) Therefore, I've never used air link/virtual desktop/steam link aside from the initial trying it out and realizing it's way too laggy. I stick to wired connections and thats always worked perfectly fine.

The thing is, every tutorial I've seen on youtube for setting up VRCFT requires steam link or virtual desktop—there's no wired link tutorial anywhere and I've seen that there was some sort of recent update that broke wired link and face tracking?

Am I screwed? Do I just have to deal with the lag or is there any way to set up VRCFT with a wired link?

Any kind of help whatsoever is deeply appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I use SlimeVR trackers for full body, is it still a necessity to set up space calibrator?
