Cat came running to me

In Puyallup, WA. This sweetheart RAN to me yesterday all covered in mattes & thin. I took her home & put her in my bathroom with food and water.

She loves being picked up & is just the sweetest thing. I can't keep her; I already have 3 cats. All the local rescues & shelters seem to be at capacity.

Can anyone help? I can get her vet checked and de-matted – everything but keep her. Can even meet someone halfway. Please help me find this sweet girl a home.

I've checked all the local lost pet sites & databases & nothing. I think she was abandoned. Getting her microchip checked today.

Terrified in Washington state

My husband has Alzheimer’s when I couldn’t care for him anymore I put him in an adult family home. Where they take marvelous care of him everybody told me when I spent down my money I could go to Medicaid and they would help me pay for it. Well, I just got approved for Medicaid and I taken $6500 a month, which is pretty good except the Medicaid thinks I can pay $6000 a month. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feed the cats pay the mortgage. Keep the lights on Etc. on $500 a month at the end of August I’ll have $2500 more a month but I still can’t do it on $3000 a month . What am I supposed to do? Who am I supposed to call? Am I supposed to after 46 years get a divorce?

Canceling UFC fit membership

I had to threaten law enforcement on UFC fit located by south hill mall due to them being unwillingly to accept the reason for my cancellation as if any of that should’ve been asked in the first place. I’ve been there since even before it was ufc fit when it was 24 hour fitness.

Weird experience at the Windmill Bistro

Quick question for everyone. Anybody else been to the Windmill Bistro and get racist vibes from the place? I'm not one to play that card often, but when my wife and I visited last Sunday we couldn't help but feel an extremely off-putting vibe, especially from the owner.

  • She was very curt and seemed annoyed when we walked in with our reservation, but with everyone else she was laughing and smiling.
  • At least two groups of people that came in after us got their waiter first. And our waitress just seemed...off. Just weird. I thought maybe since she's young, she was just awkward, so I can forgive that. Whatever. But thinking back now with all the other context...yeah.
  • My wife ordered scrambled eggs and got sunny-side up, which she hates but ate anyway because she didn't want them to feel bad. Aren't we nice?
  • We both asked for a box to go, but only my wife got one (for context I'm hispanic, she's white).

Afterwards, when we got in the car, we both mentioned that we felt that there was a weird and unpleasant vibe with the whole place. When we deep dived into the reviews later, we saw that the lower starred reviews almost all came from POC stating the exact same thing.

The thing is, I'm hispanic, but most people assume I'm white most of the time since I don't have even a hint of an accent and have fair skin, but I guess my last name on the reservation gave it away.

Darn! The gig was up!

Anyway. This was just something that's been on my mind all week. Just wanted to know if this was a common experience for any other POC in the area, and if this was something known about this place that we just didn't know about.

Seen them near the 512 on ramp next to the South Hill mall. They had someone pulled over, some of them were unmasked. Hopefully the man they had stays safe and unharmed. I imagine they'll be back around, so all my non-white community members stay safe today.

Summer jobs for teens

Hi! I’m a senior graduating in about a month and I’m hoping to get a job to save up for college over the summer, however, I haven’t had any experience outside of volunteering and I’m struggling to navigate positions around the area.

Does anyone know of any openings or good places to consider?

Thanks!

Safe places for women and children to go walking.

Looking for areas I can take a big stroller with a kid or two in it to go for walks. Walking paths at parks etc. Preferably South hill somewhere between the mall and sunrise. I prefer not super packed but also not secluded if that makes sense. I had a random man harass me at my usual walking space(thankfully without my kids!) and I no longer feel like it is a safe spot. TIA

Just posting because I'm a curious and nosy person, next to farm 12/Van Lierop park, there is a big patch of land that seems to be growing crops.. I know the ones on farm 12 property are Lupines— that is not what I am referring to. Does anyone know what they are? Very occasionally I'll see workers get dropped off and pick in there.. attached images for clarity.

Eviction Prevention resources Assistance

I live in the 98446 Zip code and have applied for help from the county but due to their “fair lottery” system I was denied and cannot reapply for six months. I have a job lined up with the US Government, I am waiting on security clearances to go through and am waiting on unemployment to come through. I have a 30 day notice and as I am outside of Tacoma city limits therefore my apartment complex is charging $75 + $5/day in late fees, not the $10 max within the city of Tacoma even though my zip code says I’m in Tacoma (weird boundary thing) so I’m actually in unincorporated Pierce County.

I’m looking for help as I am a cancer patient and am trying everything I can to get my rent figured out, it’s just unfortunate timing with the job situation and the unemployment situation.

What resources are there for people like me? Seems 211 goes through the county but I’ve already exhausted that option.

Do you support the city spending $150k for a big ass flagpole for America 250? Councilmember King (District 2) thinks it's a wise investment.

It's on the agenda for 5/5 Tuesday's city council meeting at 6:30pm (5th floor of city hall).

The site would seemingly be around the new 167 interchange.

Some problems I have with it:

  • Originally it was slated to come out of LTAC (Local Tourism) dollars. These funds have a narrow use case allowed. However, it is coming out of "Tier 3" funds aka fun money left over (Tier 1 is essential services, Tier 2 is regular spending).

  • 150k is a lot of money, we budgeted 1/3 of that to update our downtown fixtures (benches, trash cans, etc), we could use 150k for a lot more productive purposes.

  • Large flags deter birds, which is why car dealerships commonly have lots of large flag poles. If our big ass flag pole is too close to the river, we would ruin part of the appeal of the Riverwalk. Personally, whenever I'm strolling the Riverwalk and I see a bald eagle patrolling the river, I cry a single patriotic tear. I would prefer to keep that feeling.

  • The right-wing majority (King, Kastama, Gilliam, Johnson) voted in significant tax increases over the last couple years to pay for the new Public Safety Building. Let's put it to that. A drop in the bucket sure but one bite at a time.

  • Gas prices will lead to increased operational costs, would be cool to hold onto those funds so other projects can be completed on schedule.

If the money has to be spent, I would personally love the city to reevaluate the cost of string lights over Meridian. I feel that the Public Works Department inflated the cost with overly strict requirements that other municipalities didn't have when they implemented string lights that spanned a street.

This item was dropped last minute from last week's city council agenda by Councilmember King.

Happened today on Fruitland and 96th St E, gramps almost totaled my new truck, I’m sure a pedestrian accident or store front isn’t too far in his future.

The Ice Cream Man (person)

I know this is a weird question and maybe a little on the quirky side but is there an Ice Cream Man/Person that goes to 55+ mobile home communities? I may be pushing 60 but I would love for the Ice cream Man show up in our neighborhood.

I don’t know if this was posted about or if anyone’s heard.

Puyallup suffered a mass shut down of businesses (45) recently for prostitution. Fire marshal went through a business for a regular inspection and found that ONE location had a prostitution ring goin on behind a curtain. Some places had no permit/license for the locations.

While there were a couple of innocent businesses hit in this shut down, salons and massage places, I’m sure you can file for an appeal on it and if it comes back as denied, you can apply for another business license and get back up an going under another business name. Don’t give up!!!

This is all the information I have. Have a good day!

Electric dirt bikes are becoming a serious safety problem in our community, especially at Clark's Creek Park trails and other community parks/trails (Pipeline Trail, Swan Creek Park, etc.) If you are a parent/guardian and you purchase an e-moto for your child, please do not allow them to ride these in places where they are prohibited.

40k tabletop

Would anyone be interested in teaching me how to play?

I'm interested in the tabletop but I'd like to try it without spending a ton on models. I'm mostly interested in orks and tyranids but would be open to playing anything to learn the basics.
