Omnipod 5 placement over a tattoo?

Omnipod 5 placement over a tattoo?

Hi I’ll attach the photo of the tattoo, but I currently have a thigh tattoo and debating whether I can put my pod between the lines or on the side of my leg to give an extra 3 days worth of placement for my right side.

Due to my tattoo at the moment I’m only going with abdomen and arm for the right side and for the left side, my arm, abdomen and thighs. So definitely need a stretch of placements.

Confusion: Why Does IOB say 0.05 after it just gave me .15?

I just looked at my BG and it is 80. I looked at it after I heard the pod clicking. Under "Auto Events" I see it is still giving me several small doses. 0.1, 0.15. Why does my IOB not go up after these doses? I thought it was always trying to keep you at 110? I mean it's doing a great job keeping me around 80 right now, but I did not think it was supposed to operate this way.

Expired Omnipod 5s

I had a backup supply of Omnipod5 boxes and took newer ones out of order. I had one box that expired 4 months ago and a couple boxes thay expired a month ago. Insulet support of course said they are no good, but I imagine they are required to say this to cover themselves. Has anyone else use expired pods without issue? I'd image the 2 boxes that expired a month ago would for sure be fine. Cheers!

Is the reservoir a vacuum?

I was filling the pod, and I often have a little left in my syringe which I just put back in the vial as I only need the minimum. This time when I pulled the syringe out of the hole, all the remaining insulin came shooting out on its own. I've never had this happen before and now I'm terrified that something weird is happening in the pod. Does it always create a vacuum? Is it gonna vacuum all the insulin out through the cannula and try to kill me?

Order of operations? Flonase, Skin-Tac, and Tegaderm

What's the correct order of operations. Is it this: 1. Alcohol wipe. Let it dry. 2. Flonase - let it dry? Blot it? 3. Skin-Tac. Let it dry. 4. Apply Tegaderm 5. Start and mount Pod.

Question about dash

I’ve just been to my appointment and I’ve asked for omnipod, unfortunately 5 isn’t available and I’d have to start with dash, but my doctor is against it. I’m currently on Ypsopump and my bloodsugars are relatively stable. But the tube is not at all for me and it is ripping off often. It is not something I wish to keep going with. What’s peoples experience with dash? Is it truly that bad? Because I really want something without a tube.

Pod changes new discovery

Hi everyone, I’ve been using the Omnipod 5 for 3 years now. I always do my pod changes by filling the pod, then allowing the app to prime it, then when it’s ready to insert, I put it in my arm and go. This morning I forgot to prime it, I filled it up, deactivated my old one, then placed the new one on my arm in a different spot, and started it, I then realized it hadn’t primed yet, but I thought let’s see what it’ll do. It completed the priming then gave me the start option, which I did and it worked, and 8 hours plus 1 meal later, sugar level is controlled. This will be so convenient going forward, to know can place a newly filled pod on and not start the priming until needed.

Is this common knowledge? 53yo, diagnosed in 1995.

I just can't even believe how well the pod is working....

I'm on day 11 of the pod. The first couple of days I saw some improvement. The first revelation was that I could give less than a unit boluses. I've always been nervous injecting larger doses of insulin. Now I actually carb count and am learning all about that. Entering Custom foods is so helpful (I wish there was a built in searchable database for common foods). I've been in range near 100% the past few days and using a lot less insulin. To be fair, I'm eating better too as I don't want to go out of range. The whole thing feels as close to a cure as I've ever felt.

Switched my expired Dexcom. Now in Limited mode

So I had to change sensors last night. I moved it to the other arm to rotate sites but the pod is still on left side but doesn’t expire until tonight. It’s not getting numbers from the Dexcom and operating in Limited mode. Geez I hate to waste a day on a pod just to switch sides, but my glucose spiked out of range. How do you guys handle this?

(Canada) Help getting Omnipod DASH

Hello,

I am a recent immigrant to Ontario Canada, and I’m struggling to understand what I need to do to get Omnipod DASH pods.

I am existing DASH user (in my home country), and I just need more pods to continue my treatment.

When I log into the Diabetes Express Omnipod portal and go to Shop>Buy Pods I get stuck in a loop where it just keeps asking me to log in over and over. I cannot reach a page for ordering the pods no matter what I try.

Can someone help me understand if I need to enroll somewhere or something? I tried calling customer support and they didn’t help- they just said I need to make an account which I already did through the site (I can log in and everything…)

Constant leaks with Dash 5 - was there a design change?

Until recently I had very few leaks since upgrading from the OG omnipod to the Dash 5. I think I might have had 3 in the past two years.

However for the last two months, I would say 2/3 of my pods have leaked, and twice the cannula slipped out of my skin without it having been bumped. I have not been doing anything different in terms of prep or placements.

Does anyone know if there was a design change? Is anyone else having this issue?

(Note: I have checked, and none of the leaking pods are part of the recall.)

I feel like I've made the wrong choice....

We are now 8 days into the pod after Tslim for almost 4 years and the highs are WILD, we weren't getting this on the Tslim with lyumjev. Now on the Omnipod 5 with fiasp, it's almost like the insulin is non existent. I'm having to override the system and bolus units manually to even make a dent in my son's blood glucose. The team have told me not to but he's just sitting reading HIGH. I'm so frustrated

Optimization Settings

I received this email yesterday from Omnipod. Posting here for awareness:

Key settings to help spend more Time in Range. There are three settings you can use to help increase insulin delivery responsiveness in Automated Mode:

Target Glucose

Insulin to Carb Ratio

Correction Factor

Want to understand how these settings work together, and what changes may help improve responsiveness?

New Omnipod user vent. Advice?

I'm new to Omnipod with Dexcom G6, just started 2 weeks ago and my sugars have been horrible! My baseline is in the 180s and after meals I'm spiking into the upper 300s, which take an entire day of manual bolusing to get down. I contacted my endo (who I'm already not thrilled with) who said it's not recommended to change settings in the 1st 3 months. I called my Omnipod rep, who thinks I need to adjust my carb ratio and hasn't heard of any recommendation to not adjust settings. She's going to be in contact with my endo. I just don't see how just adjusting my carb ratio is going help lower my baseline values. I haven't been eating because I'm afraid of the spikes and I still feel like crap. For reference, I'm coming from the Tslim where my A1c was around 6 and I was a straight line at 120 all the time. I just had to switch for financial reasons. Any advice would be so helpful!

Issue with Cannula.

Hi guys. I’ve just recently in the past month gotten the omnipod 5. I’ve attached it to my stomach and I’m on the second last day before changing it over tomorrow. However I have noticed in the little window at the cannula that there is blood and it’s a little bit tender after being on a fun fair ride.

It is still functioning as it should. Was just hoping for some advice on what would you guys recommend I do, should I just leave it until tomorrow or should I change it?

Thanks o/
