r/Norway

We loved Norway. We enjoyed Northern lights at Tromso, took a boat (mail one) for 3 nights to the South and drove with a camper van from Tromheim to Bergen. All with our 7 year old girl enjoying with us 2. Spectacular land (and fiords)!❤️
Opinion about Immigration
Hi i mainly want to know about norwegians point of view but anyone can add to the topic.
Whats your overall opinion about Immigration.
Do you think its somewhat needed in a country like Norway? Do you think there's been an increase in immigration lately?
Immigrant here asking btw.
Tusen takk!
Thank you
Hi guys, I just want to say thank you.
I posted here a bit over a year ago about «what to do when depressed». The response was overwhelming, and I’m sorry for not responding to many of you, but I am eternally grateful. Seeing how many people cared, so many people giving detailed responses on how to work out at home, budget cameras, trails to take in winter. I was so nervous to post something here, not wanting to take space, but oh my god am I glad I did.
Seeing how even strangers could care, so many people sending dms to give even more advice and asking how I was doing, and seeing how many were feeling the same way I did. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Am I doing better? Well.. lol. I have the best psychologist I could ever ask of. Genuinely. She cares and she listens, something I can’t say my last psychologist did. It’s still a work in progress, but I feel better, and it is going somewhere. I have a support network, and I have hope. I have tried the hobbies and exercises you have suggested, and even tho I hate exercising, I will keep trying.
I know it’s becoming spring now, so people probably feel a bit better, but if you feel you can relate, I hope you are able to reach out, because there is a surprising amount of people who care. Reach out to me even, and I will try my best to respond (sorry I haven’t gotten better at responding lol). Either way, the spring is here! What is peoples spring/summer plans? :D
Edit: if anyone needs advice/wants to read the thread, here you go :)
Wtf is wrong with sellers on FINN. no
I've tried to buy multiple items from different people and as soon as I start asking questions they'll completely ignore and never respond to them, what's the point trying to sell something if the moment someone is interested and wants to know more they completely stop replying. I've never tried so hard to give someone my money and they refuse.

reddit.comRegnskap for ENK
Hi, I would like to kindly ask for advice from those of you that are familiar with running a small business or with experience in accounting in Norway.
I have enkeltpersonforetak (ENK) and so far I was handling accounting myself through Conta. But the upcoming deadline for tax assessment gave me a bit of scare as there are things I have no idea about.
I got an offer from Synega to become their client, but I read very mixed reviews online.
Does anyone know a reliable accounting company or at least a ballpark of costs I should expect to pay to regnskap company ?
TLDR: I'm shitting bricks before tax assessment deadline of 31st May and desperately need someone to look over my accounting.
Many thanks in advance for any and all advice.
Old sailor talk (beck vs deck)
Looking for a Norwegian's input here on a old-timey maritime phrase I am trying to decipher.
I am trying to translate an older Norwegian message from the 1940's. It was written on a ship, in distress. Part of the message indicates, where they are, with the ship, but it also includes the phrase, "den beck". I have seen AI tell me that it could be "the deck", as Norwegian sailors back then might have said beck, for deck, as a result of mish-mashing German and Swedish nautical terms. It would have been "Om Deck" for paperwork, but "beck" could have been said orally? Any input from the old sailors, or linguistic historians would be appreciated!
Share your experiences with DPS in Norway.
I would like to learn more, especially from people who have ADHD, autism, and PMDD. Are doctors well informed enough about these conditions, especially when it comes to adult women?
People with other diagnoses are also welcome to share their experiences in this discussion.
Looking advice about working in Norway
Hi everyone!
I'm a 24yo Australian male looking to apply for a working holiday in Norway later this year, and I'm feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed in my planning. Any bit of advice or guidance would be incredibly appreciated.
My focus is to engage with the culture and nature, meet some local friends, and hopefully enjoy the work I secure. I'm working on my Norwegian every day and hoping to get it to B1 profeciency by the time I arrive. I am fully eligible to apply for the WHV
Location
I have always assumed it would be best to live in Oslo so that I have the most opportunity to meet people, be open to a range of job opportunities, explore the social hub and it's culture and participate in events. Is this a good plan or should I consider some other places too? Do most WHV people live in the outer suburbs (for more affordable rent cost) and travel into Oslo for work or just find work in those suburbs?
Timing
I'm wanting to arrive in Norway in October. Is this a good time to find work / sharehousing? Is there any advantage to waiting another 6 months and arriving just before Norwegian summer in 2027?
Work
If I was to arrive in Olso in October, what kind of jobs will I have the most luck in applying to? What's in demand and open for foreigners? Can my degree and experience in animal handling be of any use?
Additional Questions
- Do I have to have a job secured in Norway before I can be granted a WHV? I haven't found a difinitive answer.
- Is sharehousing difficult to find, or particularly easier at certain times of the year?
- Is season ski resort work worth looking into? What locations offer such work?
- What is your favourite thing about Norway?
Obviously that's a lot of questions to ask. Any tips of bits of advice will go such a long way. I'm so very excited to travel to Norway. I have family roots there, and I want to connect with the culture to see if it's something I want to be a part of long term.
Thanks so much!
Forvirring rundt det å jobbe som lege i Norge
I am an Non-EU medicine student studying in Poland, and will be graduating in an year, I have a few residency pathways in my mind and would like some clarity on them.
I am leaning towards Norway and Germany, I have about an year and a half to learn the language. I know germany has easier citizenship programs and more number of jobs.
My questions are:
how does job market in norway functions, i have applied for paid internships(summer jobs) with specifying B2 level of language, but got rejected everywhere without interview.
Is LIS-1 that tidious, and is it possible to become anaesthesiologist in norway ? Comparing it with germany
Lifestyle of doctors and satisfactions in both countries.
I am emotionally inclined towards norway, but i have heard that without nepotism and luck it is really hard to make a career in healthcare there, any feedback is highly appreciated by this confused average student.
Norway for working abroad + day hiking (July) - Suggestions?
Hey all, I’m trying to plan a trip to (Northern?) Norway this July and was hoping to get some recommendations. The idea is to find a scenic place outside of a city where I can stay for about a week, work remotely during the day, then go on hikes in the late afternoons/evenings. Any suggestions that could be a good “base camp” for this sort of thing?
Easy access to day hikes, ideally really scenic...the kind of place where you can just step outside and you’re already in nature. I've only been to Oslo, so my knowledge of Norway is very limited 😊
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Is this business worth investing in Norway?
Hi there you all!
I am asking for an advice. I am from Spain and know little about Norway, but what I really know is that Norwegians are high in English fluency and almost all the citizens are able to speak perfectly English, regardless the age.
So, would you invest in getting students for a English online course for Norwegians? I mean, using for example ads in Facebook, Instagram, Google... you know.
The idea came from the fact that the income of an average Norwegian is higher, but there is another question:
Do the Norwegians need to polish their English?
You as a Norwegian, would you pay for practice and learn new words in English?
This debate is what we are discussing.
I am appreciated if you want to share your thoughts here.
To immigrants/expats who lived in multiple cities, how do they compare?
I see a lot of posts talking about their life in Norway I’m curios if there’s noticeable differences in experiences for those who have been to multiple places
New license renting a car
I'm planning to come to Norway this september, I have a pretty new driving license (less than a year), do you know any place where I could rent a car near Oslo. It seems like almost all places require at least 1 year of holding the license before being able to rent a car.
Thanks !!
