Looking for a Norwegian's input here on a old-timey maritime phrase I am trying to decipher.

I am trying to translate an older Norwegian message from the 1940's. It was written on a ship, in distress. Part of the message indicates, where they are, with the ship, but it also includes the phrase, "den beck". I have seen AI tell me that it could be "the deck", as Norwegian sailors back then might have said beck, for deck, as a result of mish-mashing German and Swedish nautical terms. It would have been "Om Deck" for paperwork, but "beck" could have been said orally? Any input from the old sailors, or linguistic historians would be appreciated!
