Changed my cover 🫣 1 Before and 2 after…. Plus some stickers I’m trying to make for my book

Hi guys! I was getting ready to finalize self publishing today and felt very unhappy with my cover. I spent all day designing and drawing this cover and I think I’m happy with it.

I spent months designing my old cover. I will included in this post. It’s so weird because creating this cover only took a day but I guess that’s what happens when you practice something. :-)

Let me know which one you like better, but please let it be the new one 🤣

I’m self publishing very soon!!! I will update here when it’s published 🥹💛 in case anyone is interested in my paperback book. Once I save up money, I will be able to pay someone to transform my manuscript into a e-book and offer both versions, but unfortunately, that will have to come at a later date.

I’m just super excited to get it out there in the world, even if I’m the only one who buys it haha

I think I’m going to order a few extra author copies to host a giveaway on my TikTok and maybe that will help bring some orders in. I want to create a sticker sheet with some of the illustrations from my book to include in the giveaway, but I’m having trouble finding somewhere to get custom sticker sheets made.

I’d love to know if anyone’s had luck taking copies of their book into small stores or if anyone has done stickers? 💛

Has anyone ever made stickers for their book? 📖

I’m trying to design stickers for my poetry book that I’m self publishing soon, but I’m not really sure how or where I could actually get a sticker sheet made 😅 I love the idea though.

Artist: Callie Krieger, Title: no title yet, Medium: acrylics on canvas

textured paintings in the snow might be my new style. 💭 i’m considering making larger canvases with polar bears or brown bears in the snow.

I think I developed a new style! Going to keep practicing. I might do a polar bear or brown bear next! 💭

Ripleys believe it or not

I have been submitting my dad’s art and sharing it to TikTok and he does all kind of art and his own original work too, but he also recently has been doing rubber band art which is unlike anyone else else’s out there. I submitted it to Ripley’s believe it or not because my dad is 62 and works full-time and these take him months to complete. He doesn’t think his art is any good but I really do believe in him and they actually reached out!!!! I have been emailing them back-and-forth and recently they asked for more photos of his work and what his asking price is. I had no idea what to say (my dad undersells himself) so I said we were thinking around $2,500. I’d like to know if that’s unreasonable for a museum or if it’s a fair price. He doesn’t really want to let go of this piece, but also got excited like a little kid again when I told him they were interested in his art. I feel like if he was to let go of it for anything less he might regret it. But I said around so that they know we are open to negotiating. I have no idea how art museums work, but I know they still profit off it and you don’t get commissions afterwards so I feel like that justifies a bigger price range too.
Was just curious what other artist thought. I’m really excited about this opportunity for him and I really hope the price doesn’t scare them away.

room for purple

in a crowded room
i feel see-through

i don’t know when to speak
i don’t know what to do

in a crowded room
i still somehow feel alone

if I speak up
my words come out wrong

if I don’t speak up
i’m rude

if I laugh it was the wrong time
if I don’t laugh I miss my cue

i’m in a crowded space
but uncomfortably out of place

it’s like I’m blue
standing in a room full of purple

so close to fitting in
but not close enough

everyone says “you’ll find your people”
easy for them to say, they’re not blue

i searched crowded rooms for blue
but only found it in my reflection

looking at her so blue
i felt blue leaking from my eyes

i understood her pain
she understood mine

it was easy to love her
i’ve known her my whole life

i poured my love into her blue
and we turned purple

Best places to sell my art? It’s kind of all over the place. I’d love to hear which one of my styles is your favorite!

The first one is my newest! I really want to make more textured animal art on canvas and at a bigger scale, but the molding paste is so expensive so I need to get serious about selling and making money of my art too; but only so I can make more art!! Haha. I do it because I love doing it, not for the money.

The brown paper ones are colored pencil, which was my style for a long time before I tried acrylic/canvas. I still love this style, but my colored pencils are dried out and I can’t afford new ones right now.

Then I have some older art that I did on thrifted paintings. I really enjoyed doing this and am thinking about starting it up again. They sell quick and I enjoy adding small things to older canvases to give them a new life. I already have an idea for two with vintage style Pooh bear characters.

Lastly I have my pet doodles.
Thank you 😊

I also have some illustrations for a children’s book I made but haven’t published or worked on it in a while. I feel bad abandoning it :( I have been working on my poetry book which is going to be self published this month :) so maybe I’ll try to go back to the Toadellina book. 📖

I designed my cover on Canva and adobe fresco :)

I posted on my writing tik tok calliekriegerwrites, but didn’t get any likes or comments so I’m nervous to publish.
