Moving out

Hello wonderful people, I have a question. I am currently on my parents section 8 case and will be moving out. I don’t have any income but will my parents be forced to downsize? We’re currently in a 2 bedroom apartment and been here for 3 years. They are both disabled but I’m a not sure what they’ll have to do once I remove myself from the case. Thank you in advance

Hello everyone, I need some guidance because I am going through a very confusing and worrying situation.

I currently hold a Section 8 voucher under the EHV (Emergency Housing Voucher) program, but I was also in the process of applying with NYCHA under the RAD program. The problem is that I was informed that my RAD application was denied—precisely *because* I hold the EHV voucher.

Now the situation is even more complicated because I am being told that there is no longer any funding available, which leaves me in a very uncertain position. I feel trapped between two programs—where one disqualifies me from the other—and, ultimately, I am left without a clear housing solution.

I have tried to seek answers, but everything is very confusing, and no one is able to offer me concrete guidance on what I should do in this situation.

Has anyone gone through something similar? What do you recommend I do, or where can I turn to get better guidance?

I would truly appreciate any advice or experiences you might be able to share. 🙏

Hi, I put a emergency transfer in to another NYCHA development in October and it was approved in November, and it says I've been selected for an apartment on May 1st. Anyone know the next steps? Should I wait to contacted or should I contact someone? Do they ask for rent deposit if I'm transferring or does everything just follow over?

If you don't have any children or pregnant women living in your apartment, can you opt out of the program?Has anyone here had any experience with this? I would hate to relocate.

Anyone dealing with their apartment being cold.

I don’t know what the hell is up with housing but it’s been hellish this year. Like they got the heat on late and even then it was unreliable it would turn off randomly for days and my family would have to put on layers. They turned the heat off completely in March or April and it’s been cold nonstop. It doesn’t help these damn windows aren’t properly sealed.

They got a giant machine that’s I’m guessing is supposed to provide heating but I’m guessing they’re unable to run it for some reason.
