I was in the process of transitioning to RAD when I learned today that my case has been closed simply because I currently hold a Section 8 EHV voucher. This seems absurd to me. I was told that I should request a transfer and move into the RAD apartments—provided, of course, that the apartment management agrees to it. Then, once my EHV voucher expires, I will continue paying 30% of my income because I will have effectively transitioned to RAD Section 8. This is ridiculous.

I currently hold a Section 8 voucher under the EHV (Emergency Housing Voucher) program, but I was also in the process of applying with NYCHA under the RAD program. The problem is that I was informed that my RAD application was denied—precisely *because* I hold the EHV voucher.

Now the situation is even more complicated because I am being told that there is no longer any funding available, which leaves me in a very uncertain position. I feel trapped between two programs—where one disqualifies me from the other—and, ultimately, I am left without a clear housing solution.

I have tried to seek answers, but everything is very confusing, and no one is able to offer me concrete guidance on what I should do in this situation.

Has anyone gone through something similar? What do you recommend I do, or where can I turn to get better guidance?
