Price increase with new app rollout

Any one else noticed that the ticket prices increased with the roll out of the new app?

I commute to trenton and i noticed the Flex Pass is now 40$ more expensive and its nearly 30$ for a round trip!

Does this mean they're still raising the price in June like they said they'll do yearly? Because if so this is quickly going to be impossible to afford going to work.

Easton, PA to NYC commute

Soon I’ll start to commute from Easton, PA to FiDi and some days to Flushing, Queens.

Which line would be the best option for me?

Is it the Raritan Line and then transfer to Newark Penn Station?

I launched a site to track NJT delays and estimate the "cost" to riders and the regional economy. Help me fine-tune it?

Hi all, I'm an NJT commuter like you, posting anonymously. I want to help people who don't take NJT every day understand the real cost of delays, to us and the regional economy.

To help develop that thinking, I launched a site called NJT Delay Tracker. Hosted at bettertrains.org, the site scrapes daily NJT delay alerts and washes them through an estimation process that I developed to come up with a total "cost," in hours and dollars, for each day's worth of delays. That "cost" then gets posted to Bluesky, the website, and integrated into a running total that users can see through a data dashboard.

I'd love your thoughts on the project. Let me know what you think and how I can improve it!!! (Fellow policy nerds, my methodology is all public on the site.)

And, if you like it, please share broadly!

AirTrain replaced by shuttle bus at EWR - what to expect?

Not sure if this is the appropriate sub, but I will be taking NJ transit train to EWR international airport this coming weekend, and I recently read that the air train will be substituted for the shuttle busses as if undergoes construction. I need to get to terminal C. How would this go? Apparently there will be workers there directing incoming traffic, but are there also signs or anything that also help direct where to go?

Comet IVs on train 2100!

Comet II and IV cars are pretty rare on the Pascack Valley line, so I felt like sharing. This specifically is a Comet IV.

Congratulations on the updated NJ Transit app

This was pushed out this morning. Yes, I did uninstall, reboot and reinstall.

They must have a complicated distribution process for heir apps.

I am sure it will get resolved.

In the meantime, the bus operators this morning have been very understanding.

I look forward to seeing the improvements when the technical issues are addressed.

Does anyone else think the new app is worse than the old one?

The old app gave riders the ability to see schedule and track at the same time. I feel like the new app is a step back. What are your thoughts?

every fucking day there is a delay. commuting to NYC on NJT is so unreliable you put your employment at risk. what a fucking joke.

im sure all the boot lickers will blame Amtrak and absolve the criminals at NJT.

Cant wait for the world to see the Third World status of a so called super power's infrastructure.

All this for one of the highest tax burdens in the USA.

Letting standing Passengers off first on busses

Can we normalize letting people that stood for 20-30 minutes in their commute to NYC before arriving via Port Authority off first?!?

Literally having to block people because you feel like if you don't walk a few feet and move you will fall over is ridiculous. You had a seat for the entire ride... You can wait for the ten or so less people who stood to get off... Not to mention we are blocking the aisle. This morning a woman pushed us back and we literally fell backwards on top of each other. The bus driver had to yell at people to let us up and off.

PSA - NJTransit App not working on some devices

App stopped working this morning just in time for my commute.

App hasn't worked all day and I am being told by customer service that certain devices do not have access to the new app. AND you cannot access the old app anymore.

So you may not be able to access the new app until it gets rolled out to your device. But you also cannot use the old app because it is discontinued.

The customer service suggestion, go and ask for a courtesy ticket at Penn station.

NJ Transit has to be the most inept transit system on the planet. I have been in trains where you have to shit through a hole on the floor of the bathroom car, and even they can figure out basic ticketing.

You’re an absolute yutz. As a bike commuter, you’re why people hate bike commuters. You entitled child. You’re gonna need that helmet.

People need to call this out and not put up with it. It’s not up to the conductors, station staff to see everything.

I work remotely in NNJ, but occasionally need to go into my companies various offices, including our NYC one. I usually Uber to my local station and take the train into NY Penn. (pre-2019, I was a daily commuter)
Imagine my “surprise” when I get to the station to take an early train in, only to get the warning in the app AFTER I bought my ticket.
I was standing on the platform and heard someone say that the app is showing a delay through the tunnels. When I opened the app to buy my ticket, no warning. Once I bought it, BAM, big red warning of delays across the top of the app.
I’m still on the train, somewhere along the path, since we still cannot see where we’re going b/c of the damn cheap UV filter they put on the windows.
This post may not even make it out since the signal out here in what I assume to be the Meadowlands is so terrible.
Please tell me wife and kids that I love them, and my work that I don’t think I’ll make it in today, as the rails have taken us. lol

Where are the monthly passes located in the new NJ Transit App?

I only see flex pass adult and Ik that's not monthly as it gives you 20 trips only.

Dealing with nutcases on the bus?

I ride one of the long haul interstate buses into the city for work. Had a lovely incident this morning where a lady flipped out on me hard after the bus discharged at Port Authority. Earlier, when she got on, she decided to sit right next to me in the back even though the bus was empty, and promptly began having a loud conversation on her phone. I got up with an exasperated sigh and sat somewhere else because I could hear her over my headphones. When we all got off, I noticed her walking right next to me, loudly telling me that I didn't own the bus, and she was following me for several minutes through Port Authority while yelling at the back of my head. People were staring, but at her, not at me. I was not reacting to her at all.

What do you even do in a situation like this? I don't have viable transit alternatives so it's not like I can just take a different route. She looked so generic that I can't tell if she's a regular on the bus or not and I don't know if I'm going to see her again. I'm a jittery person and I seem to attract emotionally volatile people on public transit for some reason.

MultiLevel right next to Silverliner V at Trenton

Out with the old, in with the new today, I suppose. Normally, the SEPTA train arriving to discharge passengers is Silverliner IVs and 3910 is Arrow IIIs, giving opportunities for photos of the lookalikes.

Clearly, there has to be a better answer to all of this nonsense day after day… And I know a lot of you twinks will probably say take the path… Sometimes the path is inconvenient… or not possible

Sitting in what's supposed to be a quiet car right now listening to the crew have a full blown yell-conversation in the cab, the topics including how much they resent having to have a quiet car. Refusing to enforce your own policies and let your paying customers have their one stint of peace and quiet all day is bad enough without throwing it back in their faces guys.
