Homeless

There is a homeless gentleman that has been sleeping and living next to Provident Bank on N Park. Walked by a few times and there is paraphernalia and other not so pleasant things all around where he has setup camp. Is there nothing the town will do about this?

CPS showed up to my house after i reported inappropriate behavior between my daughter and another student to the school, despite me telling the school i didnt want to escalate this - is this normal protocol? can use some advice

a few days ago, my daughter (4yo) told me about how her friend (another girl) touched her in her private parts between her legs in the bathroom at school (pre-k 3). without making a huge deal about it to scare her, my wife immediately reminded her about privacy, saying no, no touching private parts, etc......we didnt want it to escalate into possible trauma if we can handle it in a more calm manner. we felt we delivered the message clearly and hopefully landed well.

the next day, my wife immediately reported this to the director of the school. her biggest request was NOT to talk to my daughter about it directly. we didnt want to escalate it or scare her, that they should do a broader class education about it, they talk to the parents of the other girl, as well as increasing their attention on the kids....especially in the bathroom.

today, CPS showed up at my door because of an "anonymous report" and asking to talk to me / my wife, and my daughter about the incident. we reminded her that WE made the initial report to the school, and then declined any investigation because we absolutely didnt want anyone talking to my daughter about this. She left. there's only 3 people that could possibly know about this: us, the school, the other parents (if they even found out)......so its really not that anonymous

now my wife is spiraling, concerned that things are going to escalate and possibly get, that this will turn out bad for my daughter in the sense of being "marked", and now we have a folder at CPS with our name on it

i feel like this is routine, and that the school was the one that reported this. My wife will talk to the director tomorrow about this.

does anyone have any insight from the school side or the CPS side as to what possibly is going on behind the scenes, and what i could be possibly looking at having to deal with? if anything. we dont want to report anyone or cause a big deal. we want the school to know so they can make changes, and we want the other kids parents to know.....thats all.

Things that come to mind for me would be a book store, a yarn store, or maybe a table top gaming store. What do you think is missing in downtown?

Edit to add: a record store might be nice

Looking to meet new people

Hello! I'm in my 30s (F) looking to meet people in the Morristown or Morris County area. I love trying new restaurants, shopping, traveling, and checking out local events. Prefer having conversations over coffee or smoothies rather than getting drinks at a bar. Also have my homebody activities like crafting or watching a good tv series. Let's talk about life, goals, and growth and also laugh and have fun while we're at it. DM if any of this interests you!

I have a mixed breed high drive puppy I adopted a few months ago that requires a lot of exercise. She is part cattle dog so if she doesn’t get a certain amount of running/walking time where she feels like she had a job to do that day she is an absolute nightmare. On the other hand she is also fear reactive on leash- not aggressive just a loud mouth and backs up in to me or her dad.
We do the classic “I have a reactive dog” 180 degree turn whenever we see someone walking towards us on a walk or walking with their dog.. We are working on this with training. Until we can make her more comfortable we’re working around her fears to the best of our ability and hoping other people aren’t too put off by her reactions as well, so I was wondering if there were any quieter walking paths or trails that are dog friendly where we can go and get a nice mile or so in.
Even if we see people or dogs there maybe there is somewhere it’ll be easier for me to turn her around and bring her to a quiet place. Cattle dogs get very overstimulated.

Hi, looking to get out and socialize a bit more. I wanted to ask what some good bars were for a bit of an older crowd?

A place I can go by myself and talk to people or make friends.

I'm looking to move to Morristown / East Hanover / Florham Park / Morris Plains / Whippany area. Searching for a 2 bed / 1.5 or 2 bath for less than $3k. I mean is it even possible at this point....? As far as amenities go, I'm really just interested in a fitness center/gym and in unit washer dryer.

If anyone has any apartment recommendations or apartments to stay away from, I would greatly appreciate it! Feel like I'm looking for a unicorn. Flexible on moving date as I'm looking to move in the next 6 months.

Hello!

I am moving to the Morristown area soon and will be commuting into the office every Wednesday. I’ve read that parking at Morristown station is very difficult but convent station tends to have much more availability. Does anyone have any insight as to what time parking tends to be full at convent station? If I arrive for an 830am train, will I have trouble finding parking?

Hello! I have celiac disease and I’m looking for a Chinese place that has gluten free sesame chicken and egg drop soup. The best place I’ve found is T.S. Ma in Montclair and Wyckoff, but I’m looking for something closer to home (Florham park) and preferably on DoorDash. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

We are a non-partisan citizen advocacy group dedicated to informed civic engagement on the decisions shaping our community. We monitor Township Committee, Planning Board, and Zoning Board proceedings, participate in public hearings, file Open Public Records Act requests when warranted, and produce substantive analysis of the governance issues facing Morris Township.

This page is one way we keep our neighbors connected to that work.

We are launching this group because Morris Township residents deserve substantive, fact-based reporting on the governance of our community — and because too much of the public discussion about Township decisions has been one-sided, conducted through Township communications channels that present official narratives without independent analysis.

Many residents remain unsettled by how the Township handled its Round 3 affordable housing obligations and is now handling Round 4. Significant market-rate development at sites like the Honeywell Red Bulls, and Colgate-Mennen properties produced opportunities that could have been leveraged toward Morris Township's affordable housing obligations — and were not.

Today, the Township faces Round 4 obligations that will be met largely through new construction on sites that residents see as poorly suited to additional density, with infrastructure that is already strained and with PILOT structures that exempt new development from contributing to school funding.

These are decisions with consequences that residents will live with for decades. They were made with limited public engagement, defended with limited public explanation, and continue to be implemented with limited responsiveness to the residents most affected.

Residents who raise these concerns at Township Committee meetings, at Planning Board hearings, and through OPRA requests have too often found themselves heard but not answered, attended to but not engaged, treated as a procedural requirement rather than as constituents whose concerns merit substantive response. This is a governance culture that needs to change, and changing it requires a sustained, organized civic voice.

Morris Township Future Forum is one part of building that voice.

In this issue, you will find:

"Happy Arbor Day? Counting Trees in Morris Township" — an original analysis using U.S. Forest Service data showing that Morris Township lost approximately 250 acres of tree canopy between 2013 and 2023, despite Township programs intended to maintain canopy cover.

"Making a Difference" — a feature recognizing the work of Charlie Schachter and the Morris Township Environmental Commission on community education and the Butterworth pollinator garden.

A May 2026 calendar of Township government meetings, important deadlines for residents, and links to cultural and recreational venues across Morris Township and Morristown.

Our mission statement and editorial standards.

Future issues will examine other matters of consequence to Morris Township residents, including the federal lawsuit against the Township over Ordinance 08-22, regional coordination with civic groups in neighboring communities, and the substantive issues facing voters in this November's Township Committee election.

Follow this page for ongoing updates between issues. To subscribe to the newsletter directly, email us at mtwpff@gmail.com.

We are also looking for volunteers. Sustained civic advocacy takes work — research, proofreading, video editing, social media, calendar maintenance — and the group is stronger when more residents contribute to it. If you can offer a few hours a month, we would value your help. Reach out at mtwpff@gmail.com.
