I have a mixed breed high drive puppy I adopted a few months ago that requires a lot of exercise. She is part cattle dog so if she doesn’t get a certain amount of running/walking time where she feels like she had a job to do that day she is an absolute nightmare. On the other hand she is also fear reactive on leash- not aggressive just a loud mouth and backs up in to me or her dad.
We do the classic “I have a reactive dog” 180 degree turn whenever we see someone walking towards us on a walk or walking with their dog.. We are working on this with training. Until we can make her more comfortable we’re working around her fears to the best of our ability and hoping other people aren’t too put off by her reactions as well, so I was wondering if there were any quieter walking paths or trails that are dog friendly where we can go and get a nice mile or so in.
Even if we see people or dogs there maybe there is somewhere it’ll be easier for me to turn her around and bring her to a quiet place. Cattle dogs get very overstimulated.
