I don’t know what the fuck is goin on with instagram’s algorithm, but over the last week or so there have been a few times I’ve opened the app and the first thing on my feed is a post from someone I don’t follow who either died themselves (“if you’re seeing this, I lost my battle with cancer”) or lost someone important to them, usually a husband or wife that died young from a tragedy.

I don’t know why instagram thinks I want to see these, so let me spell it out for ya Zuck: I FUCKING DONT! There’s nothing in my algorithm (sports and comedy) that should make you think I want to see these posts and it’s not even from people I know!

It’s just fuckin sad. Stop it.

Been curious about this. Why watch videos of someone else playing video games when you can play them yourself?

If you’re already on the couch, watching the tv, and have the console right there… wouldn’t it be more fun to switch inputs and play?

This isn’t like watching sports or music where you can’t do what the pros are doing. Push 2 buttons and you’re playing.

I’ve seen a lot of posts lately of people posting their blood tests and asking if they have celiac disease. The answer will always be the same: go get an endoscopy and biopsy. Blood tests are an indicator, but they are not official diagnosis. And most of us are not doctors!

I don’t know how these posts are even getting through when they are clearly a violation of rule 2. Come on mods, block this shit!

Instagram reels have been terrible since I downloaded the new iPhone update the other day. They freeze like every 5 seconds. It’s so frustrating. Really hope it gets fixed soon

There’s a new bug in the quest menu. When you scroll down, it automatically opens the page with all the various quests instead of just going down the list. I’m just trying to go down to the daily section, but each section before that is opening automatically and it’s really annoying.

Hello! I have celiac disease and I’m looking for a Chinese place that has gluten free sesame chicken and egg drop soup. The best place I’ve found is T.S. Ma in Montclair and Wyckoff, but I’m looking for something closer to home and preferably on DoorDash. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

When I try to twist my chapstick to raise it, the bottom unscrews. Top is totally stuck. Just opened this one week.

Before you say jt, when I push it up from the bottom, nothing happens! It’s really stuck.

It’s been about 4.5 years since my diagnosis, and someone recently asked me if I have to get a follow-up endoscopy/biopsy to see how it’s doing. I haven’t really heard of anything like this, and my gastroenterologist hasn’t mentioned it, but I wanted to see if anyone has thoughts on it. Is there a reason to get one? Is it worth doing just as a 5-year checkup in the fall? Thanks!

My buddy has turned into a total Schmosby. He falls head-over-heels in love so quickly. In his last relationship, he said I love you on the second date. This was two days after their first date.

He improvises these big romantic gestures that require so many details and the timing to be absolutely perfect for them to work. Any rational person knows they’re destined to fail. Yet when I or anyone else brings that up,he persists in the hope that they won’t. Not one has worked out yet, but he still does them.

He concocts these crazy hopes and dreams. He’ll be talking with someone who lives hours away on a dating app, and already be planning their future. Right now he’s talking to someone who refuses to come to our town because it’s too far, so he has to go to her place whenever he wants to see her. At least 2.5 hours on trains each way. He’s totally whipped, and they’re not even dating. They’re just hanging out as friends trying to get to know each other.

It is genuinely crazy to me that Schmosbys exist in real life. How do they not have that voice in their head saying “this isn’t going to work” or “I’m crazy for thinking this far ahead” or “she’s not putting effort into the relationship so I should back out”?

It’s exhausting, I feel bad for this dude!

This is the third time in the last week my alarms haven’t gone off in time. No sound from my phone, no haptics from my watch. But when I look at my watch and phone, the alarm is on the screen, just not alerting me in any way.

Both my phone and watch are up to date. Any advice? This has been a long standing problem for Apple, but not this consistently (at least for me). Thanks.

Hello friends! I have a situation I could use some advice on. As the title says, I am the only celiac in my house. My parents and sister do not have gluten restrictions of any kind, and our kitchen is shared. I was diagnosed by biopsy about 4.5 years ago.

It still occasionally happens that my dad uses glutenous kitchenware when making food that I’m going to eat. I have my own cutting board and pasta strainer, but sometimes when he’s rushing or distracted by something else (my mom has early-onset Alzheimer’s, for example), he forgets.

Tonight was one of those nights. He made spaghetti and meatballs, and I found out after I ate and was starting to wash dishes that he used the gluten cutting board to chop garlic, onions, and parsley for the meatballs and tomato sauce. He did remember the gluten free pasta strainer for the spaghetti. When I pointed out the cutting board, he was very apologetic and annoyed at himself.

The problem is that it keeps occurring occasionally. Every couple of months there’s another contamination. I have the utensils, and he’s obviously aware, but sometimes it just doesn’t line up.

For those in similar situations, how do you ensure that cross contamination doesn’t happen?

I suggested getting a new cutting board for gluten in a different color. They’ve used the same yellow one for several years, it stays out on the counter all day everyday. We’re all used to seeing it there. Maybe a different color would make him think twice?

He suggested putting a sign up. We have a post in our kitchen just off the counter, so it would be in view when we’re in the kitchen.

My dad tries very hard to do a good job, and 98% of the time he does. I just don’t want the 2% to keep happening.

Ultimately what I really need is to move out (I’m 28 and I’ve been stuck at home for me far too long!) but unfortunately with the job market as bad as it is and salaries as low as they are, it’s just not possible right now.

Sorry it’s a long one, wanted to make sure I included all relevant info. Open to suggestions here. Thank you!

TLDR: for celiacs in a house where others eat gluten, how do you avoid cross contamination?
