6 points in 5 games guarantees Champions League and you’re still “not sure” about Carrick??

If we grab 6 points over 5 matches we get to play in the Champions League next year. Do you know how unlikely that scenario was with Amorim? I don’t care if we finish third or 5th, if Carrick guides this team to qualification he deserves the chance to be the full time manager. Anyone else is JUST as much a risk, with the benefit of Carrick having these matches under his belt and knowing United inside and out.

Maybe Carrick Should Get One More Year If We Don't Find Someone Suitable

Honestly, if we don't get a good candidate available timely, maybe we should give Carrick one more year and see how he does. Then next season, we can go for a good manager. I don't think appointing someone just for the sake of it has worked out so well for us.

I do hope Carrick's game management improves. He seems very static, but he can easily argue that there aren't many options on the bench. It's not all black and white, perhaps.

What do you guys think?

Patrice Evra once said: watching Arsenal is like watching Netflix you're always waiting for the next season.

Seriously he's a real philosopher of our time. He was laughing at Walcott comparing Arsenal's current squad to the 2008 Manchester United team. I've rarely seen someone so offended. What are your thoughts reds?

Supporting West Ham for the Europa league finals revenge.

Do you think West Ham winning this one would be a sure shot relegation for Tottenham, hearing in the commentary about the stats from previous years - 38 points and beyond avoids relegation. Leeds look to be comfortably out of the relegation battle, and forest are at the brink of it.

It’s all between West Ham and Tottenham now it seems.

Patrice Evra on Theo Walcott comparing the current Arsenal team to 08 Man United.

Evra doesn’t hold back here! Sums up the narrative about Arsenal fans pretty well.

Mateus Fernandes?

Have watched a few West Ham games this season, and he always looks good on the ball, composed, tidy. Anyone think he would be a good fit? Bruno could have a word.

We need a season like the 2012/13 season. And a player like him.

The combination of RVP and Rooney was fire. And that final Sir Alex Ferguson season.

We need more games and seasons like that.

POTS Debate

I’m hoping Bruno gets POTS but if rice does get it as he’s been overly backed for is it ridiculous for a player to win POTS without winning a POTM ( assuming he won’t get the next couple ) ?

Man United need a maximum of 6 points from our remaining fixtures to qualify for the Champions League. Almost there! ⌛️

Remaining Fixtures:

Brentford (H) – 27 April

Liverpool (H) – 3 May

Sunderland (A) – 9 May

Nottingham Forest (H) – 17 May

Brighton (A) – 24 May

Chelsea dropping points along the way could secure us a CL place sooner, however it looks practically done already. We have tough fixtures but I’m feeling confident of at least 2 more wins from here on. Would be great to finish ahead of Liverpool at the season!

Question: considering how this season has panned out, would finishing 5th be slightly disappointing? (Not that it ultimately matters in the greater scheme of things).

u/Dramatic-Avocado4687 — 16 hours ago

Assuming we finsih top 5, should Carrick get the job?

Given that the objective at the start of his tenure was to get us into the CL, what else can he do? Yes, our recent performances have not be consistently great, but he has guided us into the top 5 and comfortably kept us there with a squad that we all know is still incomplete. he arguably has the qorst squad in the top 6, yet I believe Carrick has managed to squeeze every ounce of potential out of this team and I think he deserves a chance to see what he can do with a more complete team next season.

Remaining Schedule Difficulty: Premier League

Remaining Schedule Difficulty: Premier League

The chart highlights the average points (AVG PTS) and points per game (PPG) of the opponents each team is set to face in their final fixtures.

  • Crystal Palace (CRY): Hardest Path Ahead Crystal Palace faces the most grueling schedule, with a backlog match against Manchester City and a high-stakes fixture against Arsenal still on the horizon. Their remaining opponents boast the highest average points (52.4).
  • Leeds United (LEE): Most Favorable Schedule In contrast, Leeds United enjoys the "easiest" run-in. They are scheduled to meet Burnley, Tottenham, and West Ham—teams currently grappling with the threat of relegation or inconsistent form. This gives Leeds a significant advantage as they look to secure their position, facing opponents with the lowest average points (35.6) by [True]Table

Thinking about managers

I’ve seen the argument that United need to hire someone who “knows PL football.” This seems to be used both as a benchmark for hiring someone other than Carrick and as a reason to hire Carrick. Here is what history says:

Out of the 314 PL managers, the only manager to win the PL at one club who had previous coaching experience at a different PL club is Ranieri. Dalglish is a *maybe*, but he coached Liverpool in the old 1st division, not the PL.

Every other PL winning manager won their first league title with their first club in the PL.

Furthermore, if Arsenal do win the league this year (let’s hope not), then I think Arteta will be the first PL winning manager who actually played in the PL.

Not only that, but I’m pretty sure Redknapp, Rodgers, Pardew, di Matteo, Jose, and our Ole are the only managers to not win the title, but finish in the top four who had previous PL coaching experience with a different club. Which means something like 2% of all PL managers have finished in the top four AND had previous PL coaching experience for a different club. Of those, only Jose finished top four with his previous club.

Would suggest that perhaps United should look outside of the PL if they want a manager to lead them to a top four, let alone a title.

Putting into perspective Bruno Fernandes' incredible playmaking season

Of course this is a topic well discussed in this subreddit but I just wanted to show something that truly shows the anamoly of a season Bruno is having in terms of how much of an impact he is having on a team's offensive succes.

Here is every 20+ assisting season displayed as a percentage of their respective team's total assists that season:

Thomas Müller 19/20: 21 ast/75 team ast-28%

Kevin De Bruyne 19/20: 20 ast/69 team ast-30%

Lionel Messi 19/20: 20 ast/62 team ast-34%

Thierry Henry 02/03: 20 ast/66 team ast-30%

Here is Bruno's season thus far:

Bruno Fernandes 25/26: 18 ast/40 team ast-45%

Bruno is not just having one of the best playmaking seasons of all time but already arguably the best with 5 games to go. Don't mind the conversations I'll be putting him in.

Our portugese magnifico!

Wes Brown appreciation

Ran (actually biked) past Wes Brown tonight in Tampa, Florida. stopped immediately to share my love live of Manchester, my times living in Fallowfield for Uni, and my fondness for the team and the trophies he/they won. He couldn’t have been a nicer guy for some random American to stop and start pratting away. He’s definitely a solid ambassador for the team and for the EPL as a whole.

ADDRESSING OUR CMF ISSUES

If we dont get atleast 3 cmfs, we are cooked. Is anyone at united considering this.? Camavinga will also low key solve some LB problems we are having. We currently have mainoo alone, if we can get in camaving & either Wharton or Anderson, then one more with epl experience it would be amazing. Then we bring in the 2 fletcher to cover our bases in depth.
