Bad first experience shopping for a ring

I have been in the process of getting an engagement ring for my girlfriend for the last month and finally settled on a plan of attack for getting a great ring within my budget.

My plan involves getting a radiant cut VVS2-VVS1, color E-D, online with a Gcal 8x cert. The diamond will be rather large, 3.5-4 carats, so I figured my best bet would be to get the diamond online and since Gcal 8x’s can be expensive in store and then take the stone to a jewelry for a simple setting. I went to a jeweler this week and explained what I wanted to do and was treated horribly.

The jeweler basically told me I was an idiot for shopping online and that the diamond was basically guaranteed to be horrible. He said his prices were better and since his diamonds were made in the US, they were way better. He showed me his prices and they were almost double what I see on Adiamor for 8x’s.

After 45 minutes of getting scolded by this man, I left pretty disappointed. I understand online diamonds can be hit and miss but a Gcal 8x should be okay right?

At this point, I’m scared to go to another jeweler with this idea. Is my “plan” reasonable or am I setting myself up to get laughed out of every jewelry store I go to?

Beware Keyzar jewelry!

they are not honoring the lifetime warranty that is advertised on their website. I bought a ring last year from them. Within the first few weeks I noticed the main prongs on the main diamond looked off so I sent it back to them and they fixed it. Fast forward to now, yesterday I noticed one of the small diamonds on the side was gone! I messaged them to fix this since clearly the setting was loose enough that the diamond fell out. They said they would fix it if I pay a repair fee and shipping costs!! That certainly does not sound like a lifetime warranty to me. When I questioned this fee, they then tried to gaslight me, basically saying that with normal activities settings can come loose and that if only I reached out when it was starting to get loose then they could cover it. Unbelievable! It is not normal for a setting like this to get loose! This reflects poor craftmanship. I’ve had other rings with similar settings of small diamonds on the band and never have I lost a diamond on them!

How should I care for this ring?

Hi everyone! I just got engaged over the weekend and I LOVE my ring- it’s the exact one I sent my fiancé and I love love love it!!! It’s gorgeous.

The thing is, I pee a lot (like 20x a day) and I shower usually twice a day. Aka I’m always washing my hands.

He told me I should always take my ring off when showering or washing my hands to be safe, but he also doesn’t really know, so I’m asking you all. If I have to take my ring off every time I’m about to get it wet, I will 100% forget to put it back on and lose it. It needs to be on permanently.

Is that possible? Or do I really need to take it off every time?

Zuvelio is a master Jeweler Team!

This ring setting and matching wedding band is perfect. Nothing could have made this more perfect in my mind. Idk how they do it. I explained everything how I wanted it. Sent them a picture of how I wanted it done and they served me perfectly. Thank you Zuvelio for making my engagement perfect!

Emerald setting advice

Are there any do’s or don’t’s for setting an emerald cut diamond? I know it depends on personal style or preference, but as far as what’s most flattering for the stone. I’ve had a small emerald cut moissanite and it had compass prongs. The reflection of them in the stone made the most odd look to appear in the stone. I was not a fan. I want the stone to look its best once set. Please offer anything you’ve learned from your experience.

Bought this marquise diamond. Did I pick an okay diamond?

3.05 marquise, F VS1 2.2 ratio (I love the look of a longer, thinner marquise) 63.5% depth.

The more I watch the video now after purchasing, I’m noticing a lot of dark spots? Could that just be the video/lightning situation or did I purchase a bad diamond???

Pink Marquise, yay or nay?

See this on Calavera and I'm interested in snagging it, but I've never done this before and am a little uneasy about going for it without someone with a little more know-how looking over it first. It's 2.83ct VVS2 clarity. How's it look to you all?

Engagement Ring + Wedding Bands - The Best!!

My fiancé and I purchased our wedding bands, a spacer band, and my engagement ring from Loose Grown Diamonds, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations.

From the start, communication was prompt, clear, and consistent. Any time we had questions, whether about design options, sizing, or timelines, we received quick, straightforward responses. They were also very accommodating when it came to customization, taking the time to understand exactly what we were looking for and making adjustments without hesitation. That level of responsiveness made the process feel efficient and well managed.

We especially appreciated their willingness to work through specific details with us. Whether it was refining the look of the engagement ring or ensuring the bands complemented each other perfectly, they were flexible and solution oriented throughout.

The quality of each piece is excellent. The craftsmanship is evident in the finish, durability, and overall appearance of the rings. Everything feels solid, well made, and designed to last, while still looking refined and elegant.

Overall, the process was smooth from start to finish, and the final results speak for themselves. We are very satisfied with our decision to go with Loose Grown Diamonds and would confidently recommend them to others looking for high quality jewelry and reliable service.

Buying stones online

Hi all, this may be just me but hear me out.

Has it happened with you that you ordered a jewellery piece with some lab stone after checking the pics, videos, etc… But then found the stones lacking something. Ex. Windows, black areas etc… We try to take as much care as we can, but then at the end it happens anyways. And then it makes you rethink your decision to buy the stone without seeing it in person.

Again, it may not happen with all, but curious to hear.

Also if you have learnt any tips to avoid this, would love to know.
