After endless hours of listening and playing with so many other components of fine tuning like toe in, distance from wall, room treatment, Dirac settings, etc, I realized a large gap was treating corners in my room. It was noticeable as I did clap tests that the front stage was hurting the most.
After installing these high quality traps from GIK it fixed every hole I was experiencing. Echo and delay is completely gone. Bass from the 15" woofers inside the low end cabinet of the Klipschorns is super punchy and deep. There doesn't seem to be any weird bass delays or standing wave interference anymore.
Just very pleased with how things are sounding. I'm in love with my listening room again!
my Klipschorn consecutive serial numbers ( I imagine that’s not rare but it is nice) and they have custom crossovers from ALK Engineering built specifically for my Klipschorns by Al Klappenberger himself, now retired, and he matched the crossovers specific to my pair of speakers. So thanks for noticing as they are amazing to listen to. I am lucky to have acquired them as the second owner.
my signal chain:
MM AN IQ3 cart paired with a Rega P6 connected to the phono stage of the Airtight ATC-1 driving a 8W PER CH ATM-300 with authentic western electric 300B tubes. I made my own cables as I needed one to by 25 feet for the room
Tonight’s listening
THE METERS - a jazz funk band
then listened to all 3 albums from Automatic
Closing the night with Depeche Mode Some Great Reward - which has aged really well.
I think what I love most about these speakers the most is if you’re not in the critical point they are very forgiving the way they fill the room with sound. I’m just there’s a presence of in the room, not directional so the left and right channels kind of blend together if you’re not at crossover point of them so if you’re at the crossover, you get a real great stereo sound but when you’re out of the crossover, the sound doesn’t get bad because it actually mixes altogether so you kinda hear that left right separation disappears such that it makes it easier to listen to them, so if you’re in a different part of the room sitting it’s not annoying. you’re not constantly reminded that you’re not sitting at the optimal spot. They’re very forgiving in that way.
And I think I got the right analog chain that drives them beautifully
Cheers
I bought klipsch r 50 m accidentally. I should have purchased klipsch r 50 pm instead. I’m super novice to this and missed that minor but super important detail. Now I don’t know what amplifier to get or if I should return and get the all-inclusive speakers. Would I only need an amplifier? What else might I be overlooking? I feel like I’m headed down an audiophile rabbit hole and my goal is really to fill my studio apartment with calming white/brown noise. All suggestions and/ or insight is welcome 😭 The M’s were just delivered today about an hour ago fyi this is how discovered my mistake.
I have a pair of klipsch kg 4.2s and the 10” rubber surround of the passive radiator is torn, I could get a 34 dollar kit but I bet there’s a way to fix them cheaper, especially because it’s just a passive radiator. Could anybody help me figure something out?
Looking to have some experts rate the deal I got on a Klipsch speaker setup from FB marketplace. It includes
Klipsch RP-4000F tower speakers pair
Klipsch RP-400C center channel
Klipsch R-10SW subwoofer
Klipsch surround speakers
Yamaha TSR-700 7.2 receiver (Costco version RX-V6A)
Remote + calibration mic
HDMI cable + sub cable
Full speaker wire set
Condition:
Excellent overall. All drivers sound clean, no issues. Sub hits hard, receiver works perfectly. Everything looks brand new except the sub - which has some exterior scratches.
Before you berate my surround speaker position, the location is temporary.
I've been waiting for next chance to ship Bose 901s (sentimental value, though need major repair) from family on opposite coast to me for years. Then locally picked up these Klipsch 700s. Initial testing sound really good, much better than my current Klipsch R-41m in a 2.1 (keep the sub in the setup?). From some web searching seems like need to assess the crossovers, but again my ears are smiling. They are keepers since the wife likes how it matches existing furniture...no need for the 901s.
Delivered today. I haven’t opened because we are painting.
Hey everyone. Want your input on my setup. Open floor plan with semi-separated dining room and living room. The locale of the entertainment area is 17’ wide x 14’ deep. This does not include the dining area which is partially separated by a 5’ deep wall where one of the surrounds is located. Distance to front speakers is 10 feet. Current setup is 5.1. Looking for accommodation of both home theater and music.
Yes, I’m a newb. Played around with whatever I had available for years. Had an older Denon 7.1 receiver and mixed speakers. Ran into a work bonus and went impulsive.
Plan to upgrade in the future at a different home location.
Receiver purchased for future upgrades:
Denon AVR X6700H
Center
Klipsch RP-504C
Surround - not ideal but renting my place so for now:
RP-502S
Sub
Klipsch Reference R-121SW
Tower speakers
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-8000F II
Practical feedback requested!
I want a streaming amp to replace my old Kenwood VR 7030. Just need 2 channel output, not interested in home theatre, surround sound, A/V stuff, just good streaming audio, mostly Spotify and some Apple music.
I have 2 KG4’s in a relatively narrow room but it has a high sloping ceiling. I don’t need a lot of power although the 7030 is 110 watts/channel rms with class A power. The old Kenwood and the KG4’s produce an excellent sound stage with discernible spacing of the instruments. The issue is I have to use a little Bluetooth streaming device plugged into the back of the VR7030 and stream Spotify from my phone.
Currently looking hard at the Marantz M1 and the Bluesound power node. Kinda want to be in the $1,000-ish range but can go more if it makes a real difference.
What says the brain trust?
Hi all,
I’m currently in the market to purchase a pair of bookshelf speakers and I’m struggling to decide on what to choose. Currently in terms of audio I use an expensive pair of IEMs and multiple pairs of sennheiser headphones with my primary being the HD660s2. For my tv sound system I have the full high end Sonos setup for atmos(arc ultra, sub 4, era 300s).
I’m currently deciding whether or not powered speakers are right for me. My budget right now is 2500 pre tax which could currently net me a pair of Klipsch the sevens II and their respective stands. The big appeal of these is the level of connectivity present: AirPlay, usb c audio, chromecast, Spotify cast, Bluetooth. I do not plan on using the speakers I purchase to replace my Sonos system and do not care about my system connecting to my Sonos system(via the Sonos amp). The sevens II have gotten glowing reviews so far but I just keep seeing significant negatives surrounding powered speakers in terms of longevity. This worries me as a I have speakers from Sonos over 10 years old at this point that work just as great as the day I got them. For reference I live in a studio apartment and I plan to have these speakers in an entryway projecting into my bedroom. In the realm of passive speakers, I’m not worried about the amp so much as I have experience with headphone amps and dacs, but I do worry how much a nice amp will cost that has all the connectivity features that the sevens II have. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Anyone sat down and tried both or own both?
Or alternatively KEF LS50 II vs Klipsch Nines?
I need to try both, but wonder if anyone has a strong opinion already on this "versus"
So just tested the fives, was pretty awesome and was going to pull the plug on it till i saw that a new version is coming, should i wait and buy the new one or uust buy the original?
Are any of you guys familiar with these speakers? They are very similar in size to the Heresy’s but these are only two way ? Others Rebelsi have seen are corner triangular speakers.
Hi guys, I was transporting my speakers when one of them banged into my RP 504C II and one of the woofers is damaged. Can this be easily repaired by Klipsch or some repair place? Recommendations?
I brought down the price to 400. Will this still be worth it for an older system? Looking for input I’m new to home theater systems. Thank you!
My dad has a pair of Klipschorns from 1995 (not sure what version that is.) He's been using an old Denon integrated amp from the same era and it finally died on him. He definitely appreciates much nicer audio but high end separates really aren't in the budget. (Probably around $1000) Anyone have a good piece they recommend to just run these for 2 channel music only? There were some really nice stereo receivers released this year like the Yamaha R-N series. I was also taking a look at the Emotiva BasX TA2+. Basically I'm looking for something like that. Thanks.
