Wildflowers on highways being mowed?

Does anybody know what's happened to the wildflower program? I've noticed on 295 and 95 in particular, All the wildflowers are just being mowed down.

I called the Florida Department of Transportation today ((904) 360-5400) And got transferred all over the place. Finally left a voicemail somewhere but I don't know if I'll get a call back.

Maybe others can call and inquire as well so the question can gain some steam?

Fun things to do during summer?

Hello ~

Due to work, I will be in Jacksonville, Florida, for 3 weeks in July/August. Can you recommend a few things, whether it's food, activities, sports or quiet spots to relax?

Is it easy to get around or should I rent a car instead?

I'm (f, 29yo) from Germany and I'm open to anything and enjoy trying new things. Thank you in advance! 😄

  • Joshua Allen Trent, a former Jacksonville youth pastor, was arrested on April 12, 2026, on felony sexual battery charges involving a minor.
  • Investigators allege the abuse began in 2016 and continued for years.
  • The allegations describe a pattern of grooming, coercion, and escalating abuse, raising important questions about oversight and accountability within the church.

Long story short, the property owners at our business office had her in the field behind the building and were asking if anyone would take a free GSD, her owners moved & left her with them and they couldn't do anything with her. I didn't want her to stay out in the heat any longer as it had been a couple days, nor for her to be given to a random person who may not have a dog's best interests at heart, so I accepted taking her. I have her inside in air conditioning and fed, and she's a sweet dog, supposedly 1.5 years old and not fixed, however my own landlord has said she cannot stay. I've asked around and tried the local GSD rescue but so far nothing - anyone think they'd like to meet this sweet girl and maybe give her a safe forever home?

I am moving to Jacksonville soon and looking for a yoga studio. In the past, my favorite yoga studios have been very diverse in terms of classes, ages of participants, and body types. The type of studio where people have notebooks to reflect on their practice, if that makes any sense. It has been difficult to tell online exactly what energy a studio will have. Does anyone have a recommendation for a yoga studio like this? Thank you so much!

Local news? WYA?

Almost 3k members - mostly victims telling similar stories. Action News Now WJXT4 The Local Station / News4JAX WJXT4 Scott Johnson still running those Lickety-Split commercials? I bet LS had them sign an “airtight” contract that they can’t get out of.

Screenshot of the message from the guy that scammed me (Joshua Blanchard Bolt) to their scam team when I told them I was canceling my contract BEFORE the work began.

I can’t WAIT for this company to be forced out of our city.

Rentals Near Jacksonville

I have recently tried to apply to a few different rental properties in Jacksonville, FL and have been denied due to a “criminal” charge. This charge is only a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana so I didn’t figure it would be this big of a hassle. Are there any other routes to try and secure an apartment in this area such as private landlords or 2nd chance apartments? I have great credit, can make at least 3x rent, and no evictions on my record. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m now at a loss on next potential steps.

Hi everyone!

I’m relocating to the Jacksonville area soon for work (Southside of Jax, near the Gate Parkway/Town Center area) and starting my apartment search but need some guidance navigating all of the options and figuring out which areas are best (and which to avoid).

Does anyone have recommendations for apartment locators or real estate agents who help with apartment finding? Or any tips on where to look/avoid nearby would be super helpful too.

I’d really appreciate any guidance, thanks in advance!
