Conrad 30 denials

Hey everyone. I am applying for a Conrad 30 flex spot. I have been approved by DoH and currently pending at the DOS. Has anyone been rejected at DOS or USCIS. I was told it’s not typical and usually the hardest part is DOH.

Trying to figure out moving logistics, if we should rent or buy a home. Homes are rare to come up in the single area we’re interested in and one just came up for sale that we really love and will sell quickly. Appreciative everyone’s thoughts and experiences.

J1 waiver (NOS)

Hi friends! I (from one of the 75 restricted countries) submitted my J1 waiver application in late Feb. I am a 5th year postdoc at a top US university and my j1 status ends in October. Anyone in a similar situation? Do you think I have any hopes? Thank you.

Hello everyone, I had my j1 waiver approved based on fear of persecution, now I have my asylum interview scheduled and it's the same case and documents that I used for my J1 waiver request, has anyone done this before, does it support your case having the j1 waiver, I did the waiver so that I did a change of status to F1 which am still maintaining

J1 IM resident planning cardiology fellowship vs waiver — need advice on timing and backup plan

Hi everyone,

I’m a PGY-1 Internal Medicine resident on a J1 visa (via ECFMG), planning to apply for cardiology fellowship 2027 cycle.

I understand that cardiology is quite competitive, especially for J1 applicants, so I’m trying to plan ahead and avoid getting stuck without options.

I had a few questions and would really appreciate insights from people who’ve gone through this:

  1. For those who didn’t match into fellowship initially:- Did you go straight into a waiver job?- Or did you take a research/chief year and reapply?
  2. Is it realistically possible to reapply to cardiology during a waiver job, or is that very uncommon?

My goal is to pursue cardiology if possible, but I also want to have a solid backup plan to stay in the U.S. and not risk visa issues.

Would really appreciate any advice, timelines, or personal experiences.

Thank you!

Extension to 8 years?

MD Currently in a 6 year program and will join a 2 year fellowship (which makes it 8 years total on J1).

Is it true that the last DS2019 will be for 2 years since I will be applying for an extension of the 7 year rule?

Primer J1, ¿qué employers en USA recomiendan?

Hola!
