A soviet megastructure horror, where fighting is not always an option
I'm almost finished with my new horror game about anomalies and desperate trading. I really wanted to make an eerie hostile atmosphere and emphasize hardships via merchant mechanics.
The whole structure is infested with different anomalies, that you need to adapt to and learn how to deal with, or suffer consequences.
It's called Housekeeper: Anomaly, it will come out to steam this September. It is story driven game with an ending, though it has a feel of a rogue-like game.
Just put a mask on that thing's face and drift into its inner nightmare
It's from my little point-and-click horror game and it's called Funerama!
I've made a horror point-and-click and its deranged visuals nearly drove me insane
We are a couple making a taxi horror game in Japan's most haunted region. Just wanted to share our new teaser!
Hello!
We are a couple of indie devs making a taxi horror game set in Japan's most haunted region. You'll need to pick up strange passengers and fulfill their unsettling requests as you try to finish your night shift.
A few months ago we shared with you our first trailer and now we want to share a new teaser that has been featured during the Galaxies Showcase.
Making a Survival Horror Game where the threat is a Cat!
Is fear of the unknown still the most effective horror tool, or are players too used to it now?
A lot of horror games rely on what you don’t see, leaving things to the player’s imagination instead of showing everything directly. I consider it one of the most powerful ways to create tension. But with how many horror games people have played over the years, I wonder if that approach still hits the same, or if players have become a bit desensitized to it... 🤷♂️
Do you think the fear of the unknown is still as effective as it used to be, or does it need something more nowadays?
Shoutout to short survival horror titles!
We all love games of this genre here and have many that we haven’t played yet, but we lack the time to play them from beginning to end many times. Many titles last more than 8h and we don’t get to finish or enjoy them to the fullest due to daily life and obligations.
While there are plenty good games that take about 4-6h, with the following list I will provide you with great indie titles that take just about 1-2h per walkthrough so you can easily scratch that survival horror itch that constantly haunt us.
-The lacerator: Can choose from fixed cameras tank controls and modern settings. Youve been kidnapped alongside your work crew by a serial killer that likes severing off limbs and body parts. If you lose a hand you will struggle to aim and can’t climb, if you lose a leg you’ll have to crawl your way around etc. You might find a way to make that useful tho 👀
-Dr viscera: The only first person game from the list. Explore a sanitarium and find your way out while avoiding getting caught by the doctor. There’s a nice amount of items and backtracking but you just have 2 inventory slots. That adds up tension to the great base atmosphere the game creates, i found it challenging but fun, it will startle you a couple times
-Late homework: Lovely aesthetic and straightforward, you forgot your assignments at school and have to retrieve them, but there might be something lurking the halls. What’s wrong with the mc and what happened to the missing student?
-Carnival massacre: Simple story, nice puzzles and pace. Break into an abandonned haunted amusement park to find your missing sister, scarce resources, amazing style
-Cannibal abduction: Good atmosphere, you end up locked up in a house after having your car break on you. Not being able to pause the game and having just 4 inventory slots while a maniac wants to chop you up makes it tense. Find out why those people act that way and leave
I also want to add these two, heavily silent hill influenced titles, they are great too but are actually chapters of games that haven’t been released yet. I won’t be getting into details but both have nice puzzles, plot and references to sh.
-Lake haven chrysalis
-Simulacrum chapter one
What are some other really short games you would add? Or what longer title do you replay when you crave that survival horror experience but don’t have much time? Let’s keep expanding our games library together!
The Third Shift comes to Steam on April 21!
The Third Shift is a Game Boy styled horror game that combines first, second, and third person perspectives. As the newest employee at the Roanoke Museum of History and Wonder, beware of odd occurrences as you patrol the halls and complete your third shift.
I made an Indiana Jones themed anomaly game, would you say it's horror enough?
Hey,
I decided not to use a first person camera to play a bit more with traps and projectiles, and also to try something a little different from other anomaly games. I could afford to try new things in the anomaly genre since it's a small (1 year) side project that doesn't really need to make money, but I'm not sure how well it resonates with players that usually play these. Here is the game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3993250/5_Golden_Skulls/
I quit my job to make a Horror game - is it worth it?
Here's the trailer for my horror game about the Miners, which I've been working on for six months now
During that time, I’ve tried various marketing strategies and gained 500 wishlists.
BUT everyone says the game is AWESOME, praising the graphics and the story.
What’s the problem? Can someone explain? You can check out the Steam page to get the full picture.
Does it look creepy enough ?
Hi there,
Last week I was working on my next game and here's how it looks so far.
Want to ask you about the atmosphere of this gameplay. Would you play this type of game ? (it's supposed to be an anomaly horror game)
Lets settle this. What is the scariest game ever made?
reddit.comDied in the first 10 seconds of my own playtest... MAZY doesn't hold back. 💀
Hey guys, I was doing a quick playtest of MAZY and decided to share the footage. I made some cuts here and there to keep it short. I hope you guys enjoy it!
