Ludum Dare starts in less than 24h, imo the best game jam for solo devs
Hey,
I'm a huge fan of Ludum Dare, but most people enters the team category. Here is why it's great for solo:
There is a dedicated event for solo devs (48h, solo, no assets). You don't "compete" with teams, only with other solo devs. It's especially great while rating games, as it's cool seeing what others could do by themself.
You can fix small issues after the deadline. It's less stressful to know that if somehow you introduce a bug last minute you can still fix it later and don't have ruined all the work done. Especially great for solo as you can't spend too much time playtesting, especially if rushing a bit a the end. Tho don't abuse of this, it's not meant to improve the game after the deadline.
If you need an additional day, you can still switch to the Team event last minute (72h, teams and free assets allowed).
You get more reviews even if your game looks like shit. Games are sorted by a point system by default. You get points by reviewing other games. Meaning than if you review many games, yours will show up on the front page of everyone and will stay there until it gets enough reviews. The whole website feels better than game jams on Itch.io.
I hope to see you there!
