Confused between Lloyd 5 star and Panasonic 3 star please help! Read description

I know it's a review sub but anyone could help that would be great. My post got removed from 2 other subs just for asking for help.

So both are 1.5 ton 2025 model. My room size is 140sqft. only one wall gets direct sunlight. Max temp around my area according to google : (40C and feels like 46C)

Llyod model 5 star : GLS18I5KOGEV (5050W cooling)

Panasonic model 3 star : CS-EU18BKY3F (5100W cooling)

Lloyd is for 33000rs.

Panasonic is for 30000rs plus they will give outdoor stand free.

Advantage of Lloyd:

- 5 star

- 4 way swing

- Low gas detection

- Proper installation detection(I dont know what is it, the sales guy told me)

- IDU is bigger than panasonic(95cm vs 88cm)

Advantage of Panasonic:

- Brand value

- lower price plus ODU stand free.

- Silver Eco Tough coating on ODU with 5 years warranty which is only available in offline models.

- PM 0.1 Filter, Ag Clean+ Filter

Disadvantage of Panasonic:

- 2 way swing.

I asked about the ODU condenser row and they were clueless.

From online search it seems like Lloyd outdoor is thicker and heavier than panasonic(30kg vs 22kg)

So I am really confused now. It will be our first AC, I am planning to run it during summer and rain(in dry mode), usage will be approx 6-8 hours(not sure, haven't had AC before).

If anyone already has these exact models, please help me out.

Also if you can tell if the ODU condenser coil is single row or double row that would be great.

Company has mandated 2 days WFH from next week. Help me set up!

Each employee has been given us Rs 25000 one-time allowance for WFH setups. I read this WFH setup guide in detail and now I'm thinking of getting a good chair + monitor minimum. Plus may invest in a headset (calls all day) + standing desk (to avoid sitting all day) + keyboard/mouse from own money a bit later.
Any recommendations/suggestions/warnings from people who've set-up for working from home?

1.5 ton 5 star ac recommendations please

Someone gifted us a samsung inverter ac in 2022 and the 4 star rating is valid from 2018 to 21. First 2 years are very smooth but lately realised that samsung is not very reliable. It is starting to show its age and cooling capacity reduced by a very large extent.

This time i have decided to go with a reliable brand like daikin 1.5t 5 star but unavailable in my area as of now.

What are my best options for long term? I saw reviews that daikin quality became worse (I have 1.5t 5 star daikin ac 2023 model which is a beast comparatively).

Should i wait till i can purchase 2026 model?

Also, i have an old non inverter lloyd 1 ton ac and flipkart is giving 4800 exchange offer, but the issue is...we changed the indoor unit and using powercool idu. In flipkart exchange, i have selected any other model and non working ac and im getting 4800 in that. Whats your suggestions on this exchange

Bought LG 1.5 Ton 3 Star Inverter AC 2026 Model (AS-Q19QNXE)

After weeks of confusion, online research, and visiting 3–4 offline stores, finally went with the LG 1.5 ton 3 star inverter AC (AS-Q19QNXE/2026).

I also considered Daikin, Lloyd, Blue Star, and Voltas. Daikin was nice but around ₹40k in offline stores for a 1.5 ton 3 star model, so I finally chose LG. Most shop owners and installers also recommended LG for reliability and service.

Paid around ₹35k + installation charges.

One thing that worried me was people online saying LG ACs are underpowered with lower cooling capacity. But the offline model I got has 5000W cooling capacity, not the lower 4400W seen in some online models.

My room is around 170 sq ft, top floor with direct sunlight, and honestly the cooling has been really good. Quiet AC, cools fast, and looks clean too.

I noticed a lot of people choose an AC just by tonnage or just by price, and that can get expensive later.

Room size matters first. For a normal 120–150 sq ft room, around 1.3 to 1.5 ton usually works. But if it is a top-floor room or gets direct sunlight, cooling demand goes up a lot.

The other big mistake is ignoring the star rating. A 5-star AC costs more upfront, but lower power usage can make a big difference if you run it for many hours every day. For lighter summer use, a 3-star can still make sense.

I put together a simple breakdown with the math, because the right choice depends on room size, floor, sunlight, and daily usage — not just the brand name.

I will drop the video link in a comment for anyone who wants the full calculation.

i have decided to buy samsung AC

Title: Finally bit the bullet! 🥶 Why I chose the 2026 Samsung Bespoke AI 2-Ton (AR60H24D13W) over Panasonic, Daikin & Mitsubishi.

Body:

Alright, folks, I finally made a decision on my climate control situation. For context, my animation setup is in a 220 sq ft south-east corner room on the top floor with an RCC roof and brick walls. During the day, it basically turns into an oven. 🔥 And before anyone blames my PC—I run an RX6400 GPU. It barely sips power and runs super cool, so it contributes zero heat to the room. The sun is my only enemy here!

I needed something that could aggressively fight the environmental heat load but also throttle down efficiently. After endless spreadsheet comparisons, I skipped the usual suspects (Panasonic, Daikin, Mitsubishi) and went with the Samsung Bespoke AI Inverter Split AC (2026 Model: AR60H24D13W / AR60H24D13WNNA).

Here is the hardware breakdown and why I made the call.

📊 The Raw Specs

  • Capacity: 2.0 Ton (6.30 kW Nominal Cooling).
  • The Extremes: Can ramp up to a beastly 7.2 kW cooling capacity in Turbo mode, and throttle all the way down to a super-low 1.2 kW idling speed when maintaining temp.
  • Power Draw: 1880 Watts nominal (Hooked up to a 5 kVA / 15A stabilizer with a 20A C-Curve DP MCB and 2.5 sq mm copper wiring—no compromises on electrical safety!).
  • Efficiency: 3-Star (2026 Rating) with an ISEER of 4.5.
  • Compressor: AI Digital Inverter (Dual Rotary).
  • Condenser: 100% Copper with DuraFin Ultra anti-corrosive coating.
  • Smart Features: Native Wi-Fi (SmartThings), AI Energy Mode.

🤔 The Justification: Why this Samsung?

I know the purists are going to come for me, so let's address the elephants in the room.

1. The "WindFree" Gimmick: Let me be completely honest—I did not buy this for the WindFree feature. While it is a nice little bonus when I am sitting at my desk for hours refining 3D characters and don't want a jet stream of cold air on my neck, it's mostly a gimmick. I bought this machine for its compressor range and smart tech, not the micro-holes. it has monsoon dry comfort mode, humidity sensor.

2. Why not the 5-Star Panasonic? (The Noise & Bill Trap): Everyone kept recommending the 2-ton 5-Star Panasonic, but here is the reality check. The Panasonic Outdoor Unit (ODU) is incredibly loud, hitting a whopping 59dB. I don't want a tractor running on my roof! Furthermore, despite the Panasonic having a 5-star rating on paper, this 3-star Samsung will actually give me lower electricity bills. Because the Samsung's compressor can drop down to that insanely low 1.2 kW idling speed once the room is cooled, it just sips power for the rest of the day.

LG in 2 ton only has 6800w max turbo and lower iseer than samsung.

3. Daikin & Mitsubishi (The Old Guards): There is no denying they make bulletproof compressors. But their tech feels stuck a decade ago. I wanted my AC to seamlessly integrate with my workflow. Samsung’s SmartThings integration is miles ahead. The AI Energy mode lets me monitor my exact power consumption right from my phone, which is crucial when I'm managing my overall electrical load. daikin mitshibish dont has wifi models, only some has but even then basic on off fan speed etc only.

4. The "Oven" Factor: Because of that RCC roof baking in the sun, a standard 1.5-ton would just tap out and run at 100% all day. The 7.2 kW overclock/turbo mode is what I need to quickly kill the heat when I first step into the room, and then the AI inverter drops it to that 1.2 kW idle to save my wallet.

Did i made a wrong chocie? any samsung users drop ur suggestion plz.

u think for 220sqft 2ton is needed or 1.5ton enough? bcz in 1.5ton 5star models avaible. in 2ton very few

Question about Split AC Indoor Unit

Hey folks, the evaporator coil of my 2011 lloyd 1-Ton non-inverter AC is gone. The u-bends on the PCB side (right side) have corroded quite badly.

The outdoor unit is doing well.

There is no possibility of repairing the evap coil and unfortunately in refrigerant and AC parts stores, evap coil is not available separately. But some shop keepers are saying that since its a non-inverter AC, I can replace the entire Indoor unit. They say that usually IDUs of Godrej and Whirlpool are usually available. The cost of a unit comes between 8500-10k

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to replace the IDU?

From where should I buy AC

So I am planning to buy Panasonic 1.5 3 star AC.

But really confused. Is it like completely safe to buy AC from Amazon/Flipkart?. How's your experience buying online nowadays. I have bought fridge,Tv and washing machine online itself but it was 4,5 years ago. Not sure how these E commerce works now days

Online price (Amazon/Flipkart) - 31k and offline costing arround 35- 36k

OR should I spend 4k more and buy it offline.

All I want is hassle free experience and good after sale experience.

Buying an AC and getting it delivered to your doorstep is one thing but getting it installed without getting scammed is a complete different thing altogether.

Quick FYI- I hope everyone finds this useful in not getting ripped. People who have ordered or planning to buy Panasonic ac might related to the costing more. I have attached the Panasonic installation charge chart as well for reference.

I just got my Panasonic AC installed and I am pretty much satisfied. It is a 1.5 ton-4 Star/2026/Wide indoor/Wifi model ordered from Flipkart. I know I must have chosen 3 star or 5 star but since I wanted a good ac that also comes in the budget, I went with this option (costed me Rs 36980/-)

Other options I had-

  1. 5 star (costing around 41k after all discounts)

  2. 3 star (costing 35.5k from Croma offline but that didn’t come with Wifi but I needed Wifi as I have read reviews that remote sucks)

  3. 3 star online Wifi model but with small Indoor. The Wide Indoor heavy duty model was not deliverable to my location.

One additional reason for choosing Panasonic is its 6 year warranty which you can avail by paying 588/- (499+GST) while other companies are giving for 1/5 years.

As it was my first time buying an AC on my own so I did a deep research on everything from buying to installation.

As part of my research I saw so many reddit posts complaining about how people are being charged 7k-11k for installation.

Here are few things to buy in advance (and don’t worry that wouldn’t void the warranty, can confirm this with customer care) to avoid exaggerated cost and few things to look out for when the AC is being installed -

  1. 16 Amp plug top

  2. 3 core 2.5 mm power supply wire (120/meter outside, 220+gst per meter if they provide.

  3. Outdoor unit stand (445 from Amazon and 200 installation they will charge/ 800+gst if they provide and sometimes they bring the heavy one that is around 1100+gst)

  4. Water drain pipe (outside price I don’t know cause I had it at home but if they provide 90/metre)

  5. I wasn’t charged for wrapping tape but some companys/technicians charge for that too, try to arrange from outside.

Tips

  1. Try to keep the layout (distance between outdoor and indoor) as short as practically possible, larger layout demands more material hence more price at inflated rate PLUS GST.

  2. Talk to them before hand and ask them to bring vacuum machine.

  3. Make sure that they use springs while bending pipes.

  4. The screws that they use for fixing indoor unit plate should not be hammered in but tightened with a screw driver.

  5. Make it a point that they do vacuum for atleast 20 mins. More better.

  6. Gas shouldn’t be opened before doing vacuum completely.

  7. Once the gas is opened, they should immediately check for leakages at all unions/connections with soap solution.

  8. Water should be put in the indoor unit to check for proper drainage.

  9. After running the AC check Outdoor unit and stand for any abnormal vibration.

  10. Make sure they properly wrap the whole layout of (copper pipes + wire) from indoor to ourdoor. It gives a clean look and protects the insulation foams from getting worn out early.

  11. Holes done for passing the pipe from the wall should be sealed with White cement/POP.

The price breakup and card discount I got

Original price - 40990/-

Card discount - 4525/-

Credit card handling fee - 309/-

Protect promise fee - 206/-

Final price - 36980/-

=======================================

Installation charges - 1416/-

Outdoor stand + fixing charge - 445+200/-

Plug top (LED indicator) - 120/-

3 core wire 4 meter - 480/-

White cement - 35/-

Extended warranty - 588/-

Final - 3284/-

=======================================

Total cost including everything - 40264/-

Hope this helps and less people get scammed.

Why does my new LG AC has little bit of water dropping down the indoor unit?

I got this new AC installed in my room 3 days ago. As soon as it got installed and they ran it for testing, I noticed tiny water drop forming on the right side of the indoor unit. I brought it to the technician's notice. He checked everything again, and said there's no fault in installation, the water must be residual from the water poured inside the indoor unit for leakage testing and it will stop on its own.

The water wasn't dripping continuously, and the formed drops gathered on the flap. Every 15-20 minutes, the flap would gather a teaspoonful of water and the water would then fall down. After two days, yesterday no water dropped at all. No drops formed at the place. I was happy and thought the AC tech must be right and the water must be the residual from the testing.

But today the water is forming and dropping from the same place. Again, it's not continuous and it drops every 15-20 minutes.

Anyone has any idea why this must be happening?

Hi, I need an AC for my 10x10 room and I have shortlisted this AC. However, I do not find any AI features or WIFI in this model. So, before making this purchase decision I also want to know from you guys about Panasonic 1 Ton that has WiFi features.

I have other LG products and so far my experience with those have been very satisfying.

Any one already using LG, can you please help me with my decision ?

Stabilizer for 1.5 ton AC, wattage, surge handling, warranty math and the boring stuff

This isn’t going to be a fun post. Stabilizers are not interesting products. But if you’re putting a ₹40,000 AC on an Indian electrical line that varies between 170V and 280V depending on which neighbour just turned on their motor pump, you should not skip this purchase.

I work in electronics QA. I’ve returned 4 stabilizers over 6 years for either undersizing the load, overheating, or having warranty claims rejected. Here’s what I now actually buy, and why.

What a stabilizer for an AC needs to do

Three things:

1.         Hold output voltage between 200V and 240V when input fluctuates between roughly 160V and 280V.

2.         Handle the inrush current when the AC compressor starts (3-5x running current for 200-500ms).

3.         Cut the load instantly if voltage spikes above ~290V (lightning, transformer issues).

Anything else (display, app connectivity, mood lighting) is marketing.

How to size for a 1.5 ton AC

A 1.5 ton inverter AC pulls roughly 1500-1800W steady-state, with inrush peaks up to 2200W. You want a stabilizer rated 4 kVA or higher. Lower-rated stabilizers will work for the first few months and then either overheat in summer (when both the AC and the stabilizer are running flat-out) or trip on inrush spikes.

For 1 ton AC, 3 kVA is fine. For 2 ton AC, you need 5 kVA.

The four I’ve owned

Model kVA Price Range Warranty Verdict
Microtek EM 4170+ 4 kVA ₹1,799 170-270V 3 yr Cheapest legit pick, works, looks ugly
Microtek EM 4160 4 kVA ₹2,269 160-285V 3 yr Wider range, the one to buy
V-Guard VG 400 4 kVA ₹2,124 170-270V 3 yr Marginally better build, similar specs
V-Guard iMagno 410 4 kVA ₹2,756 170-270V 5 yr Inverter-AC optimized, longest warranty

What I’d actually buy (in order)

Best overall: Microtek EM4160 at ₹2,269. The 160-285V range is the widest in this price band. Mine has been running 4 years. Once tripped during a transformer issue (saved the AC from a 310V spike). Build is utilitarian, gray plastic box, basic LED, wall-mount bracket. Does the job.

Best for inverter ACs specifically: V-Guard iMagno 410 at ₹2,756. The “Intelligent Time Delay System” is real, it waits 3 minutes before re-energizing the AC after a power cut, which protects the compressor from rapid restart damage. 5-year warranty. If you have a premium inverter AC (Daikin, Mitsubishi, O General), buy this one.

Cheapest viable: Microtek EM 4170+ at ₹1,799. Narrower range (170-270V) so it won’t help you in really bad voltage conditions, but if you live in a metro with stable supply, this is enough. Skip if you’re rural or in an old building.

The “premium” V-Guard: V-Guard VG 400 at ₹2,124. Build quality marginally better than the Microtek, otherwise the same. Brand premium; I don’t think it’s worth the extra ₹500 over the Microtek 4160.

Things I learned the expensive way

1. Wall-mount stabilizers fail when ventilation is bad. Don’t tuck them behind a curtain or in a closed cabinet. They generate heat. Mine’s mounted on the corridor wall outside the AC room, with 6 inches of clear space.

2. The “warranty period” is meaningless if you can’t transport the unit. All four of my stabilizers have been ~3-4 kg. Couriering a tripped stabilizer to a service center costs ₹400-600, half the cheapest unit’s price. V-Guard has the densest service network in India. Microtek’s is decent in metros, patchy in tier-2 cities.

3. “Surge protection” on stabilizers is marginal. A stabilizer protects against voltage drift (slow changes). For surge protection (sudden lightning spikes), you need a separate Surge Protection Device (SPD) at the meter, or accept that during a thunderstorm you should physically unplug expensive electronics.

4. The display LCD is the first thing to fail. Don’t pay extra for fancy displays. They die in 2 years. The basic LED indicator strip on the EM4160 has been running 4 years without issue.

TL;DR

Buy the Microtek EM4160. ₹2,269. Hold it for 4-5 years. Replace when it dies. If you want the absolute most thoughtful pick for a premium inverter AC, the V-Guard iMagno 410. Stop overthinking this.

Note: Links earn me a small percentage if you buy. Same price as direct.

Bought this for ₹35,700. I know a sale is around the corner and I could’ve saved another 2–3k, but honestly couldn’t wait .

I did notice a lot of mixed reviews depending on the region, but Hyderabad-side feedback is good.

which gave me enough confidence to try it out.

So far, the experience has been smooth:

Installation happened the very next day

No extra charges were asked, everything was covered under free installation (huge plus)

Cooling is quick and effective for my room size

Noise levels are pretty low, nothing disturbing

Overall, first impressions are really good. No complaints as of now.

Will update again after 1 month and then 6 months of usage to see how it holds up long-term.
