AC Installation Charges

Last post got deleted, so reposting.

Buying an AC and getting it delivered to your doorstep is one thing but getting it installed without getting scammed is a complete different thing altogether.

Quick FYI- I hope everyone finds this useful in not getting ripped. People who have ordered or planning to buy Panasonic ac might related to the costing more. I have attached the Panasonic installation charge chart as well for reference.

I just got my Panasonic AC installed and I am pretty much satisfied. It is a 1.5 Ton 4 Star Wifi 2026 Model ordered online. I know I must have chosen 3 star or 5 star but since I wanted a good ac that also comes in the budget, I went with this option (costed me Rs 36980/-)

Other options I had-

Panasonic 1.5 Ton 5 Star,New Star rated, Premium WiFi Inverter Smart Split AC
Panasonic 1.5 T 3S, New star rated, Heavy Duty WiFi Inverter Smart Split AC
Panasonic 1.5 Ton 3 Star,New Star rated, Premium WiFi Inverter Smart Split AC

One additional reason for choosing Panasonic is its 6 year warranty which you can avail by paying 588/- (499+GST) while other companies are giving for 1/5 years.

As it was my first time buying an AC on my own so I did a deep research on everything from buying to installation.

As part of my research I saw so many reddit posts complaining about how people are being charged 7k-11k for installation.

Here are few things to buy in advance (and don’t worry that wouldn’t void the warranty, can confirm this with customer care) to avoid exaggerated cost and few things to look out for when the AC is being installed -

  1. 16 Amp plug top
  2. 3 core 2.5 mm power supply wire (120/meter outside, 220+gst per meter if they provide.
  3. Outdoor unit stand (445 from Amazon and 200 installation they will charge/ 800+gst if they provide and sometimes they bring the heavy one that is around 1100+gst)
  4. Water drain pipe (outside price I don’t know cause I had it at home but if they provide 90/metre)
  5. I wasn’t charged for wrapping tape but some companys/technicians charge for that too, try to arrange from outside.

Tips

  1. Try to keep the layout (distance between outdoor and indoor) as short as practically possible, larger layout demands more material hence more price at inflated rate PLUS GST.
  2. Talk to them before hand and ask them to bring vacuum machine.
  3. Make sure that they use springs while bending pipes.
  4. The screws that they use for fixing indoor unit plate should not be hammered in but tightened with a screw driver.
  5. Gas shouldn’t be opened before doing vacuum completely.
  6. Once the gas is opened, they should immediately check for leakages at all unions/connections with soap solution.
  7. Water should be put in the indoor unit to check for proper drainage.
  8. After running the AC check Outdoor unit and stand for any abnormal vibration.

The price breakup and card discount I got

Original price - 40990/-

Protect promise fee - 206/-

Final price - 36980/-

I just got my Panasonic AC installed and I am pretty much satisfied. It is a 1.5 ton-4 Star/2026/Wide indoor/Wifi model ordered from Flipkart. I know I must have chosen 3 star or 5 star but since I wanted a good ac that also comes in the budget, I went with this option (costed me Rs 36980/-)

Other options I had-

  1. 5 star (costing around 41k after all discounts)

  2. 3 star (costing 35.5k from Croma offline but that didn’t come with Wifi but I needed Wifi as I have read reviews that remote sucks)

  3. 3 star online Wifi model but with small Indoor. The Wide Indoor heavy duty model was not deliverable to my location.

  5. Make it a point that they do vacuum for atleast 20 mins. More better.

  6. Gas shouldn’t be opened before doing vacuum completely.

  10. Make sure they properly wrap the whole layout of (copper pipes + wire) from indoor to ourdoor. It gives a clean look and protects the insulation foams from getting worn out early.

  11. Holes done for passing the pipe from the wall should be sealed with White cement/POP.
