My Audiogram is either right on the line or moderate loss (up to 50dB) at the low frequencies and a disaster above 2kHz. My audiologist has referred on to a specialist audiologist as I have really bad tinnitus. They are talking about hearing aids, that at the moment I have said is not an option for me, as I'm very active and I'm certain my hearing is fine for the areas that it matters, I rarely have to ask people to repeat themselves (max 10 times a day and that is because I'm not concentrating hard enough on what they are saying), it's just the tinnitus that is driving me mad and I'm certain it is impacting my hearing.
I forgot to ask my audiologist and as they don't wear hearing aids anyway my questions are :-
Have trialled the Phonak spheres and they have been by far the best hearing aids I've ever tried in loud places. I could even wear them to a music festival and still hear people speaking to me clearly whilst the music is playing.
Only problem is their size! They hurt behind my ears and I never quite got used to them (small ears), plus they just look out of place on me.
Are there any other HA's that even compare?
I didnt rate the Oticon Intents or Vivia Resound. Am currently trialling Starkey Edge AI. So far they are ok, but havent tested them anywhere too loud as of yet.
Is it perhaps worthwhile getting the Phonak non-sphere version?
At 41 years old, I've been hard of hearing in both ears my whole life. As a kid in the 90s I had the hearing aids that wrapped behind the ear. It was hot, itchy, and screamed in my ear all the time and couldn't stand wearing them. As a teen, I had a more inconspicuous model that just rested in the ear canal, same problem. They just physically made my skin crawl.
But what was also unbearable to me was just how LOUD everything was. I swear I couldn't hear voices any better because every single background noise was also amplified into white noise that drowned out speech. So hot, itchy, wax-sticky, and ineffectual was my experience back then. Is that still the case now? Did it just take a while to train yourself to actually tolerate them? My hearing is just getting worse in my middle age and I'm tired of irritating the $&#^ of of my friends, family, and coworkers asking them to repeat themselves all the time.
My wife and I got these hearing aids at the same time in Dec 2025. For the most part, they have been outstanding. However, recently they have been dropping out. We have to put them back in the charging case to reset them and then connect them again. The audiologist said this is happening with about 15 or their customers. It was thought this was a problem with the release of IOS 26.4 (apple OS for iphone). The quick release of IOS 26.4.1 was hoped to fix the issue but it did not. We are close to asking for replacement aids under warranty, but the problem may be across all of the Omega hearing aids for this version. If so, we may be going to a different brand. Has anyone heard any updates on the Omega hearing aids?
Why does Canada withhold the option to have access to the Apple hearing feature that can assist for much less. Are you living in Canada? Would you prefer to have access to this feature over a $6K hearing aid? 🦻 The 80-year - old in my life is struggling with his expensive hearing aides. He finds them hard to put in, difficult to use with his technology, doesn’t get a good seal and still struggles to follow a conversation in different environments. The chargers are bulky and had to pay additional $300 for a wireless case. But his iPods are easy to put in, he can test the seal and is a quick hook up technology allowing him to participate in phone calls or family virtual calls. BUT, in Canada he has no access to the hearing aid feature.
About 6 weeks ago I started on my hearing aid journey. Overall, it’s been positive and definitely improved my quality of life. I’m pretty happy with my choice of Starkey Omegas but since the last update on the app I am constantly having one side or the other become disconnected.
Returning them to the charger does reset them and resolve the issue, and I’m ordering the on board battery charger so I can carry it with me, but it’s been a serious pain to have one side drop unexpectedly.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue or is it more local to me? Appreciate any other experiences as I try and decide what to do about it!
I’ll be getting hearing aids soon. I know most of them can be controlled with a phone app, which is fine. But I would love to have a tiny little remote I could use instead, when I don’t feel like fussing with my phone. Does such a thing exist?
I’ve worn hearing aids since I was a kid from the 1980’s, I’m always excited by the experience of range of hearing aids I’ve had (from analog to digital) all of my life. With the future of Hearing Aids, i wonder if there’s gonna be a future where hearing aid technology would morph with the Ai concept where it’ll adjust/morph unfamiliar voices into familiar voices for conversation purposes or pick up keywords in a foreign spoken language such as “water”, “help”, etc into the hearing aid wearer’s language. I could care less about making hearing aids invisible if it can be useful so if it needs more hardware to make it happen, I’m all for it because it’s useful to me. It feels like the high end powered hearing aids (which i wear) has definitely gone less powerful when they started to go away with the 675 blue hearing aid batteries….
Hello I want to switch from Apple to Pixel 10 Pro, and then just realized I need to make sure it works with my hearing aids. I have the signia silk charge and go and the Rexton reach, is anybody that have the Pixel 10 Pro have any issues?
Recently got a new hearing test. The hearing in both ears has gotten slightly worse from what they tell me. Just looking top get some help understanding everything that was measured here.
Been wearing HA’s with custom earmold for decades; no fit problems. Then Phonak decided to make their own earmolds. After 5 pairs of Phonak earmolds still haven’t got one that fits correctly. Demoing some new HA’s, and getting horrible feedback with my Phonak custom earmolds. If I push them in, they seal and work well. But within minutes of any activity, they come out enough to allow lots of feedback.
Until I can have new earmolds made, any ideas how to make earmolds fit a little tighter?
