Why aren't we a hot dog cart city? Or am I missing something?

I was having a convo with one of my best friends, whom lives in Seattle, about a hot dog craving. My sister celebrated her birthday at the park and we had hot dogs. Ever since, I've been on a hot dog kick.

My friend mentioned how she wished she was a bit closer to downtown, so she could get herself a Seattle Dog. Which made me think...why don't we have hot dog carts? New York, Chicago, and Seattle are cities, that come to mind, with hot dog carts.

Unless I'm mistaken and we do, but i have yet to see one.

Also, the people posted outside Petco, or other venues, after games don't count. They're just temp glizzy vendors.

Ciccia Osteria in Barrio Logan is a must. Solid Italian spot in SD

Been meaning to post about this place for a minute. Ciccia Osteria is tucked away in Barrio Logan and it's an absolute gem.

It's a cozy, family-run spot run by Chef Mario (Milan native) and his wife Francesca (from Turin) They legit rebuilt the place themselves after a fire, and you can feel the love in every corner.

The food is incredible. Handmade pastas, daily specials based on whatever fresh ingredients they find, and portions are generous without being stupid expensive. Chef Mario has a whole thing about not charging $30-40 for pasta and you can taste the quality in every bite.

The outdoor patio is gorgeous, great for a date night or catching up with friends. Service is warm and attentive. Also, they're a Michelin Bib Gourmand winner, meaning exceptional food at reasonable prices.

Fair warning: make a reservation. Place is small and fills up fast!

Highly recommend. Go show some love to Ciccia Osteria!

Gaylord Pacific Recommendations

Hi! Has anyone gone to the Gaylord Pacific Resort? Going to check it out soon on a day pass and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what to eat at the pool and which restaurants/dishes you’ve liked or would avoid. Thank you!

Restaurant relatively near to airport/downtown/etc for breakfast or pastries (or?) at 7Am on weekday?

I've been drafted into taking someone to the airport about that time. I figure I might as well get something out of it it possible.

Staying near La Jolla this summer, what are 2 or 3 must go nicer restaurants worth driving for?

I’m planning a week in San Diego this summer with my wife and we’ll be staying near La Jolla, but we don’t mind driving anywhere if it’s worth it.

Looking for a couple of nicer spots (not super formal, just memorable, great food, good vibe, maybe a view), ideally with good vegetarian options.

Open to anything. Just trying to avoid the overly hyped places and pick a few that are actually worth it.

Would really appreciate a few strong recommendations.

Contodo Fresh Mexican Eats Review

$15 and change

https://preview.redd.it/63ycm27lnawg1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=489febbfa2880bbdce2b2fca5235d617a64059b6

So I finally made it to Contodo Fresh Mexican Eats and got the Mar y Tierra burrito. Although I saw a lot of recommendations for the Skyline burrito I am not a fan of fries in my burrito so I got this one instead. It was outstanding, and was loaded with well seasoned beef, and enough shrimp to call it a surf and turf. I know it looks a little wet in my pics, but I had already opened it up and added all three of their salsas inside before I sliced it, all very good and the orange one is spicy, I think habanero. It was huge and made 2 solid meals for me. You can see my 8" chefs knife next to it before I cut it. That thing was almost a 1' long, and not a skinny burrito.

I highly recommend from my limited experience there. I look forward to trying more of their menu in the future.

Child “unfriendly” resto for a girl’s night

Hoping the Reddit community can assist with some options for a girl’s night. The toddlers will be at home with their dads, and we’re looking for a very child unfriendly vibe as a break from the norm. We’re thinking nice wine, food toddlers would never eat, and some good vibes. We’re all in PB or Bay Park, she looking for options in other neighborhoods or North County. And there are only 3 of us.

Any/all recommendations appreciated!! :) This is long overdue.

Needing help.

My plan is to visit in July. I would like to know if there are any hotels close to the beach but within driving distance to the food scene. Trying to visit Hodads supposedly it's fantastic. Yes other places will be on the list but that is one of them.

However, any suggestions of hotels near the beach at a fair price. Budget $100-400 per night. Thanks for the suggestions.

Chinese restaurants in San Diego?

Searching for a new Chinese restaurant to go to. I’ve been to Chins and Shanghai Saloon (Dumpling Inn). Anywhere else you would recommend?

$16 after tax. Maybe the best burrito I’ve ever had. I ate all of it.

Are there any spots for Fan Tuan (sticky rice roll) in SD?

I pride myself in being a good googler and I am DYING to try Fan Tuan (Taiwanese rice roll) in San Diego but when I google it I see zilch. I will literally go to an old woman's house to buy Fan Tuan off of her.

Does anyone know if Fan Tuan even exists in SD????

any place for good vietnamese rolls?

for specifics: i'm talking about bò chiên bơ, which is thinly sliced beef cooked on a grill and wrapped in a roll. in orange county, you can find a vietnamese restaurant that will serve the entire settup for you (with a grill or with a whole baked catfish), but its harder to find places like this in san diego.

is there anything like this in the county? you can get gỏi cuốn anywhere, but bò chiên bơ is much harder...

northside shack closed?

It’s been a while since I came to SD and I was building out my map of saved spots and new spots I want to check off. My #1 favorite açaí looks like is non-existent now.

Can someone tell me what happened! And maybe provide a better recommendation? I remember JayCation from YT recommended it and it was the highlight of my trip. If anyone has any other recommendations for my spots please feel free to suggest it seems like there have been quite some changes in SD since 3 years ago :(

Korean BBQ with ample room

Hello guys I was just wondering which spot has ample seating with lower wait times. Anywhere central or close to central would be nice.(Approx 10 people) 2hr wait time gets kind of ridiculous lol

Recommendations

We will be visiting in early May with our two kids 4 & 6 years old. What are some good family restaurant recommendations? We are not specific to a location and willing to drive. Looking for anything fun, great scenery, or must dos! Thanks !
