Hello everyone.
Today I replaced the sticks on my controller. The soldering was done good imo and everything was clean.
Once I closed the shell, the L2 button stopped working and L1 stayed “stuck” as if it was always being pressed.
I opened it again, reconnected the ribbon cables, and closed it once more. From that moment, it works fine for 10–15 seconds, then it starts acting like you can see in the video.
I tried opening it again and thoroughly cleaning all the contacts and ribbon cable traces with isopropyl alcohol, but nothing changed.
I also have an “Extremerate Rise4” kit installed on this controller, and it has never caused any issues for more than a year.
What could this be? I can take a picture of the stick soldering if needed, but I don’t understand how it could affect the back buttons!
Thanks to anyone who can help me
Hello team
Hope all are doing well
I’m new to soldering an asking for your advice and intervention. I’m practicing in The Xbox box one controller on the photo . I desoldered the old broken joy stick and replaced it with new one first tried I did a lot of mistakes like working with dirty board “ old burned flux “ so I removed it again from PCB , used wick to remove the old solder , cleaned PCB with isopropyl. Then I re-attached the joystick and resumed soldering as per the YouTube tutorial, this page posts and more educational materials . Unfortunately I noticed that solder doesn’t flow only stuck on the solder tip only few joints have been soldered with unacceptable results. I’m not sure but it’s look likes that I destroyed some of PCB pads or may I did so many other mistakes . Any tips or advice. Including my poor skill . Does the soldering iron part of my failed attempts? Flux or others . My soldering is 63/37 0.8 mm .
Thanks in advance
So my Xbox controller took a hard fall. I'm not too gentle but I dont toss it around either. Anyway, the stick struggles to read upward input now. Basically the whole top of the controller left stick takes a few wiggles before reading, and it's only either no up input, or max input. No in betweens. I think it fell right on the stick itself.
My controller wont hold a charge and i looked all over and everything i tried didnt work and some said it needs a new battery and im just not sure
When i plug it in it will say its charging for a minute then it will show a question mark over the battery and no matter what cord or how long i let it charge it dies the instant i unplug it
I don't like dealing with Scuf too much due to their proprietary parts. But when I do it's somewhat rewarding.
I was trying to remove the old stick but I used the wrong temperature and those two pads burned out. How can I fix this?
Recently found a series x controller that my neighbor put in the trash. I brought i up to my apartment and it booted right up. I connected it to my pc via bluetooth, tested it and found out that the right joystick was completely broken. I ordered a replacement from Aliexpress and replaced it today and re-calibrated. It cost me 3$ in total. The replacement feels exactly the same as the original one. Soldering is difficult but make sure you have quality tools.
My left bumper requires a lot of pressure to register the input, sometimes only activating if I actually hit it as opposed to pressing. Any ideas what would fix the issue? If there are bumper replacements or anything or if i need to solder. Hopefully it isn’t toasted
