Convince me to not spend €6000 on the canyon endurace CFR DI2

Looking to buy my first "real" bike. Came across canyon after doing some research. I like going fast/don't want a city bike, but I find comfort to be one of the most important things, so the endurace line should be the go to.

Now I'm stuck between some choices

- endurace CFR di2 for €6000 instead of €9000 (pretty sure this is overkill for someone like me who wants to start a new hobby, but it's the top of the line / no need for upgrades in the future). Can't complain about that discount as well, but the maintenance will probably be a lot more than the other 2

- endurace CF 7 Di2 LTD: this is the "budget" option if you can even say that. Carbon frame and carbon wheels with the shimona 105 DI2. Retail €3200

- endurace slx 7 Di2: this is the model between the CFR and cf LTD. Pretty much the same bike as the cf 7 DI2 LTD, but has some upgrades such as a "better" carbon frame (don't know if that really matters for someone like me / an amateur), an integrated tool bag in the frame and an adjustable steering wheel (also don't know if that's a big factor). This retails for €3999

Some of my coworkers even tried to convince me me to go with the endurace onfly CF 6 (electric motor) for €4300 because I'm an amateur / just a hobby and the electric motor will be nice when climbing or when the wind is holding you back / getting fatigued. But the extra yearly maintenance costs and knowing that sooner or later you'll have to replace the motor (600-900€ repair) is worth it...

I'm also 27, 193cm, I'm currently not in the greatest shape (not fat but your average guy) but that's the reason why I want a bike, to get back in shape

What would you chose / are the more exspensive bikes worth it or will someone like me nor noticed the difference / not worth it for an amateur?

Thanks for your insights

Looking for a fork for Canyon Speedmax

Hi, I urgently need a fork for my Canyon Speedmax CF 8.0 triathlon from 2014.

Unfortunately, Canyon no longer has spare parts for it.

I only bought the bike on eBay a week ago and have now realized that a thread in the fork is damaged, which is why the headset keeps loosening. I paid €2200 for the bike and now I can’t ride it. It’s a real shame because it’s a very nice bike.

Can anyone please help me out?

Here are some pictures of the fork: Image1 Image2

Canyon Gear Groove broken over a tiny speed bump

How are these things so shitty? €35 for this? My Garmin computer went flying in the air. It was strapped to the cockpit for extra safety but imagine I broke a €400 mount computer over this.

Anyway, my questions are:

  1. Will a new one be included in the warranty? I just nought it last month.

  2. Any stronger alternatives that will fit in the new cockpit?

S or M endurance CF7?

Hi seeking advice - I’m thinking about getting the endurance CF7 - I’m 5’9 / male / 30-31” inseam and I’m on the border of fitting a small or medium canyon bike per their size guide. Anyone also similar dimensions as me and have an opinion between small/medium?

1 1/4“ bike stem with high rise

TL;DR:

I’m looking for a handlebar stem with a 1 1/4” steerer clamp and as much rise as possible. I found one with 17°, but I’d prefer something with a larger angle.

I’m looking for a handlebar stem with a 1 1/4” steerer clamp (Canyon Grizl 5) and a steep angle to get the handlebar as high as possible. The issue is that the standard size for most bikes is 1 1/8”, so options in 1 1/4” are very limited. I’ve found one with a 17° rise, but I’d ideally like something around 30° or more, or possibly an adjustable stem. Does anyone know of such a product?

Background:

Due to a hip issue (CAM impingement), I should avoid deep hip flexion until surgery in autumn to prevent further damage to the labrum and cartilage. To keep riding in the meantime, I need to maintain as upright a riding position as possible.

→ Higher handlebar → less forward lean → reduced relative hip flexion while pedaling.

What are my options for running a traditional 1 1/8 stem on a canyon road bike?

With the new release of the Endurace it’s what I’ve wanted in a new bike. Large tire clearance, aero features and maintaining an aggressive geometry.

Problem is I know canyon is all in on their integrated cockpits.

I’ve grown to really like my current setup with a traditional 1 1/8 round stem and alloy pursuit bars (I really like the 100mm reach).

I’m not exactly familiar with the headsets canyon comes with. It looks like every stock photo of an Aeroad or Ultimate had the integrated bar.

Does Canyon supply dustcaps or spacer adapters to accommodate traditional round stems? I also realize the cables will be routed externally under the stem and I’m fine with that. (I’d actually prefer it because I do my own maintenance and sometimes swap out bars depending on racing)

Travel Case

I have Aeroad. And I was wondering what people are using as a travel case. I tried buying one yesterday but the bag was not compatible with my bike. 🫤

If anyone ever wondered, 32mm on an (2021) Ultimate CF SLX leave plenty of clearance

I saw a CF SL with 32mm on, and while it's obvious that the geometry is the same I was still fretting over mounting them on my CF SLX.

in the end, plenty of clearance both front and rear. can't wait to try them out

New Bike or New Groupset ? Canyon Frames only?

Hi Everyone,

I've been running my Canyon Endurace Al6 for over a year now, bought it with little to no knwoledge about bikes.. It's an alu frame, tiagra groupset and DT Swiss alu wheels..

I upgraded the wheels to carbon EliteWheels, and riding just feels smoother and faster and been considering upgrading the rest.. and i'm stuck with 2 options:

- Keep the frame and upgrade the groupset only

- Upgrade the whole frame for a newer version but Canyon doesn't offer the option without wheels..

Any insight about what would the best option be ? Any other options are welcome too !

For information:

- I weigh around 95kg (and still going down from 104)

Fastest 100km: 3h30 and PB on 1h: 31km

- I usually do Olympic size triathlons,

thanks evreyone. !
