High back booster help!

Hello! I recently purchased a Graco Turbo 2.0 high back booster. My daughter is a month away from being 5. She recently outgrew her harness car seat by weight. I have a 2023 Camry with headrests in the back seat that cannot be removed. In place, her high back looks like this. This cannot be correct, right? Which car seat should I exchange for? That’s comparable in pricing? I think we spent $70-75 on this one.

Fit check please

Hi, my son is 4’9 and 76 lbs. Just got a new car and all of a sudden he looked massive in his booster, so I’m seeing if we’re anywhere near graduating from it. Thank you! I realize his feet aren’t totally flat in this pic… he took his shoes off to explore the third row

3.5yo already 68 lbs… outgrown harness but not 4 yet. Safest next step?

Hi CPSTs! I could really use some guidance because I feel like my daughter is in a weird in between situation and I just want to do whatever is safest. She is 3.5, about 43 inches tall and weighs 67–68 lbs. She’s currently in a Graco SlimFit 3in1 and has been forward facing in the 5 point harness, but I now realize she’s over the 65 lb limit so I’m assuming that means the harness mode is outgrown. What’s throwing me off is that I keep seeing boosters are usually recommended starting at age 4, so I feel stuck on what is actually safest for her right now.

She does sit pretty well in the car but she’s still 3 so not perfect every second, and we also have a Mazda CX-5 and will need to do 3 across soon with newborn twins currently on the way. My priority is 100 percent safety, I just want to make the right call and not mess this up. Is a high back booster appropriate for her at this age given her size or is there a better option? Are there any harnessed seats with higher limits that would be safer in this situation? And if anyone has done 3 across in a CX-5 with a bigger kid like this I would love to hear what worked for you. Thank you so much!

Graco rotating 3in1 for older kids?

Not sure if this is the right place for this or not. But im looking for info on the safety and comfortability of it for older kids (5+) when FF as a high-back booster.

Can anyone provide photos or testimonies for the graco turn2me 3 in 1 with their older kids?

Im wanting to get it but read some comments about the 100lbs FF limit being pretty useless because you end up needing a different high back booster when kids get bigger anyway 😭

My almost 3 yr old still rear faces in a extend 2 fit but i need a rotating seat to help me get him in and out while im pregnant on pelvic rest.

Hes 30lbs 36” if thats relevant, and i myself was in a high back booster until probably 11?

using Britax One4Life with stretched out elastic

I have a Britax One4Life, currently using in forward facing mode. The elastic on the headrest seat cover is stretched out (despite being handled according to manufacturer instructions), and is often coming off the headrest, exposing the styrofoam. it’s not uncomfortable for my kid, but is it safe? Britax offered that I could buy a replacement cover for $90, but was not open to replacing the cover at their expense.

Booster options

6 year old (will be 7 in a few months) is in a high back booster (chicco). She doesn’t listen- she sits criss cross applesauce and is always leaning forward in her booster. (Third row minivan). She’s very tall- 54 inches.

I watched some crash test videos of booster seats and now I’m freaked out that a booster isn’t doing anything.

I know chicco makes a booster seat + harness combo but the max height is 54… which is what she is.

Help!

Open box seats

Hello, I am curious if open box carseats such as those on rebel.com are safe to purchase, seeing as they were opened. It says they are all new, and have significant discounts. Thanks!

Convertible seat for a compact car

Would love some suggestions for a car seat for a grandparents car. My mom's car is a 2018 BMW 430i. Ideally something from Target, but willing to take all suggestions. I don't want an infant car seat as we already have that.

Current stats:

9 months old (10 months on the 25th of April)

19 lbs

27 inches

Which one to get?

I asked the other day about getting a dedicated booster and we decided to go for it. We have two options, obviously price isn't the problem. Nuna Aace or Turbobooster 2.0LX? We mostly looking for user experience!

Graco E2F vs. Britax poplar?

Which would you go for in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma? Looking to be as compact front to back as possible to avoid encroachment on the passenger side front seat.

Kiddo is 1 year old, 23lbs (just bumped to 89th percentile for weight) and 28in tall (21st for height).

Looking to rear face as long as we can, but also doubt we’ll actually use the extension panel in the E2F very often due to space. Does the rebound bar in the poplar S make the front to back footprint longer? By how much?

Check for my 6-month old in Britax One4Life (7.5 kg). Worried something is off.

I’m worried his head is too forward, it seems like his chin touches his chest. But I can’t seem to adjust him differently. It just looks wrong to me. Thank you!

Best option for grandparent who refuses to properly install a car seat because "they don't want to damage their car"?

A damaged family because they don't prioritize their grandchild's life over the possibility of damaging the seats of their car seems like a no brainer, but I digress.

My question is: would a Ride Safer vest be the safer option over an improperly installed car seat/booster for a 6.5 year old?

By improperly I mean the seat is not attached in the car as tightly as it should be, it's in there very loosely...like take a turn a bit fast and the seat moves. I always insist on installing the seat any time it's planned for the grandparent to get the child, making special trips to their house for the sole purpose installing the seat properly. But there's been situations where I'm unable to do so and this grandparent is the only option.

In my head, the vest would be the way to go to avoid this all, but I know there can be a learning curve, so I'm wondering if it could be just as or even more problematic than a loose car seat? Thanks for any insight!

GREENGUARD cert vs Extended RF

Hello, I am in the market for a convertible car seat for baby, however I am stuck in making the final choice. I am stuck between choosing a Graco Extend2Fit model for the extended rear facing limits (50lb/49”) or the Chicco OneFit Max Cleartex for the GREENGUARD Gold Certification (40lb/43” I believe). The clean fabric is important to me, but I really hope to rear face as long as possible, if Graco had the certification it would be a no-brainer for me. We will need two car seats for our two cars.

Baby is ~20th percentile at 9mo. Since smaller baby will we get more use from the lower limit?

I know it will ultimately come to personal preference, but I am looking for what others would choose and why you would choose that?

I considered doing a Graco for one car and the Chicco for the other, just to satisfy my brain (haha) but I am still getting stuck on it.

Can anyone share their thoughts please? Thank you!

Easy car seat manual finder

Hey CPST community,

I was getting my kids car seats installed at a car seat clinic a couple weeks back and noticed something: no one (myself included) saved their original paper manuals.

As I watched the CPSTs (who were amazing) navigate the manufacturer websites I realized I could build something better for them. So I did.

I built Seat Spec — a free to use app that aggregates messy manufacturer car seat manuals into one place — for CPSTs and parents. I’d love your feedback on whether it’s useful for you, or if there’s more you’d like from it.

Rotating Car Seat Recommendations

Hi! I have a 2023 XLE. My baby is outgrowing his Doona and I’d like to get a rotating car seat. So far I feel like the Maxi Cosi car seat is the best one for clearance to access the 3rd row. It also has decent leg space in the front passenger seat. We are a tall family. But of course that’s $500!!!!

I have watched videos of each rotating car seat but of course it’s with the Grand Highlander, and we just have the regular Highlander.

Anyone have any recommendations/experiences with a rotating car seat and my same car?

Nuna, UB, Chicco

Hello! FTM lost in the sauce over car seats and travel systems. Between UB Vista V3 and Nuna Triv LX if it comes back in stock soon. Are UB Aria V2 Mesa V3 carseats still an issue with chin the chest/overall safety? Love the idea of staying with same company for ease of use. Is the Pipa Urbn okay since unfortunately the Triv LX only comes as a bundle? Also considering Pipa RX or Chicco KeyFit Cleartex (unsure which model) with adapter on the UB Vista. Priority on safety of course but also considering cost/ease of use after. Thanks!

Babytrend Hybrid SI 3in1

We bought a 2024 suburban last week. I cannot get a tight install on my daughter’s high back 5 point harness booster. I ended up switching her back the her Graco Contender Slim. I noticed the back of the Babytrend wasn’t touching the seat. Even sitting against the wall in my house, only the headrest touches the wall. Do these normally cause issues?

Seat Check- Clek Fllo in Subaru Ascent 2D Position?

Hello we have a 8-passenger Subaru Ascent with a 2nd row bench. We have a Nuna Pipa infant seat in the middle position and a Clek Fllo in the outboard, driver's side position. We want to keep the outboard, passenger's side seat empty. We have a few questions about whether the Clek Fllo is safe in its current position:

  1. The Clek Fllo sits very off-center in the seat's position due to the infant seat sitting right next to it. It's almost at the edge of the seat and is very close to the door/window when closed. Is this considered safe?

  2. Because the Fllo sits off-center, the anti-rebound bar doesn't sit flush against the seat back. The right hand side of the anti-rebound bar (closest to window) sits flush against the seat back because the seat bolstering extends out more there. But, this leaves a gap between the rest of the anti-rebound bar and the seat back. Is this considered safe?

Thank you very much
