I'm 30f recommend me a book

I'm 30f very introverted. I'm usually reading nonfiction books.

But now I need to start reading fiction novels!

I want something refreshing. Exciting. No romance. Just something exciting like Crime and Punishment.

But please nothing too long haha. 🙈

I plan to read it in German which is my 4th language. It will help me in bettering my language skills.

30f Currently reading The Silent Patient but in german

So I'm currently learning Deutsch and currently reading the book The Silent Patient but in german.

Deutsch is my 4th language and honestly this language is not easy.

So I took in the challenge to read it in German to help me better my deutsch.

I am looking for a slow reader like me. Haha. I usually read nonfiction books but here I am reading a fiction one because nonfiction would be very difficult to read-at least in my opinion.

About me:

I'm 30f. I live somewhere in Europe. I would describe myself as introverted but straightforward. I'm not originally from Europe but I love the culture here in comparison to my home country.

I usually enjoy self-learning Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Philosophy and so many other subjects. But currently I need to focus on my german comprehension so resorted to reading fiction novels.

I rarely read fiction novels. In the past I've read:

  1. Bell Jar

  2. No Longer Human

  3. Crime And Punishment

  4. The Convenience Store Woman

  5. The Heaven

Anyway, I'm looking for a patient reader. Haha. Because I'm slow at reading german texts.

Thanks again for reading. :3

26F looking for book buddies & reading motivation

Hi! I'm looking for someone to read and talk books with! Would be open to joining an online club as well.

I want to read more, since coming home from work and just scrolling the entire evening is really damaging to my attention span. To combat this, I recently bought a Kobo to encourage myself to read more.

I love Japanese fiction, cosy quick reads such as Before the Coffee Gets Cold, Convenience Store Woman or Strange Houses. Though I'm also transitioning more into a different genre, such as A Short Stay in Hell, Misery by Stephen King or The Exorcist. Would like to get into thrillers, murder mystery or the likes as well. I'm not really into Romantasy or Fantasy.

I'm EU based if that makes any difference. Let me know if you would be interested or know of a book club that would be a fit. :)

Book Club Buddy Search

Hi everyone,

I’m still looking for a few more engaging bookish buddies to join our little community. While the server may look big, we honestly have a smaller group of active readers, and I’d love to find more people who genuinely want to chat, participate, and enjoy books together.

Our space is very relaxed and welcoming — we want everyone to feel comfortable being themselves. The only thing we ask is that everyone treats each other with kindness and respect

Each month we have a pool for BOM suggestions, along with several buddy reads throughout the month. Starting today we’ll be reading Fury Bound, followed by Throne of Glass and Once Upon a Broken Heart for our BOM read.

We also host fun little activities like:

✨ Read-a-thons

🎬 Movie adaptation discussions

🧩 Quizzes & games

📖 Buddy/co-reads

💭 And we’re always open to new ideas and suggestions

Most importantly, this is a space that understands real life comes first. Many of us are parents, students, or working adults just trying to find a cozy escape whenever we can. It may not always be loud or super active every second of the day, and that’s perfectly okay. The goal is simply to create a comfortable space where people can talk books, make friends, and enjoy reading without pressure 🤍

If this sounds like a place for you let me know.

Bookcord Server Invite

Hi everyone! ✨

I had a dream to create a Discord server that feels less like a giant chat room and more like a cozy, magical archive. Me and a few amazing people helped me to create this place 🫶

I know there are plenty of book servers out there, but I wanted to build something different, a place for all genres. Whether you’re into Dark Romance (like me), Sci-fi reader, Fantasy bookworm, manga fan, or anything else… you’re welcome here!

What our Archive offers -

• 🏛️ Specific Genre Wings: Dedicated spaces for your favorite tropes

• 🪻 The Grand Hall: A global chat to meet new friends, share current reads, and gush over your favorite authors

• 🎭 Interactive Fun: Activities, reading sprints, a place for writers, fun bots, and even a custom RP kingdom!

Would anyone be interested in being a "founding member" of this new community? If so, drop a comment or send me a DM for an invite! 15+ only, please!! 🌿🪻

33M longing for a book buddy

Hello 👋 i am Teddy and I am addicted to books. I spend at MOST 1 week on a book. Usually closer to 1 or 2 days. I currently do not have any friends who enjoy reading anywhere near as much as I do, or even just the same genres. So, id like to reach out and find some friends that can geek out with me on books. Ill provide a list of some of my favorite series below. If you've read any of them, or you also just enjoy the fantasy and adventure genres with a bit of romance and comedy mixed in, then please reach out to me!

The Primal Hunter by Zogarth He Who Fights With Monsters by Shirtaloon The Path of Ascension by C Mantis World Seed by karami92 any series by Daniel Schinhofen Tales of Simple Magic by Laurence Dahners The Glyphwright Chronicles by Jeremy Fabiano any series by Cassio Ferreira Unintended Cultivator by Eric Dontigney The Runic Artist by Ellake Elydes by Drew Wells Taming Destiny by S. L. Winter Oath of the Survivor by James Meyer Paths of Akashic by Bainin Warformed: Stormweaver by Bryce O'Connor

There are many others ive read and enjoyed, but this is all the best ones I can think of off the top of my head, though I did have to look up the authors, I hope to hear from you soon!!

A song of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones) - It's very long and I'd like some company

Pretty much what the title says.

I'd like someone to join me in reading the A song of ice and fire book series.

Ideally I'm looking for someone willing to read all 5 books with me, but even if we get through just the first book or only the first chapter, I'd still have been glad for the company.

You can set the pace cause I'm pretty fast and have a lot of free time.

I can pretty much lead the entire conversation and I'll also send you my amateur sketches on what i think the characters looks like (something I've always wanted to do in a book club but never had the chance to). And we can compare drawings and whatnot. All sorts of fun.

Some important info I guess:

  1. I'm a guy

  2. No minors (I dont have anything against kids but the content is pretty risqué)

Thats it.

New Reader Here

Hello. It is my first time on this subreddit. I've been wanting to get into reading for a little while now. However, whenever I try and tell myself to pick a book and read it, I keep sidetracking severely. I have a really large Goodreads list of what I want to read but because there are some many books that I want to read, I am unable to choose which one to start with. I am also slightly picky about the way the book is written as I struggle to immerse myself in books that have difficult prowse or sentence structures. Could anyone please provide some advice for me? Thank you.

Searching for a Book Buddy <3

I'm searching for a book buddy. I'm 29 F, I read Fantasy, Romance and Cozy Mysteries. My favorite books (at the moment 😄) are the Shatter me Series One and Two, so many Hockey Romances I can't even count, The Throne of Glass Series and the Thursday Murder Club Series.
I'm from Germany but your native language doesn't matter 😊

I’m an introverted person who loves reading and is always trying to discover new things. I really enjoy getting lost in books and I’m hoping to find a reading buddy to share that with.

I’d really like to find a friend who shares some of my interests, so I thought I’d write a bit about what I enjoy. If anything resonates with you, feel free to message me.

I especially love classics. I haven’t read as many as I’d like yet, but I’d love to explore works by Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Homer, Virgil, Dante, and others.. Since they can be a bit challenging, it would be really nice to have someone to read them with and keep each other motivated.

I also love poetry. Even if I don’t read it every day, I come back to it often. I’m especially drawn to older poetry, even though it can take time to fully understand, but I enjoy modern poetry too.

I also really love theatre, both reading plays and watching them. I especially like older works. Sophocles, Euripides, Seneca, and Shakespeare are some of the writers I’ve read so far. If I can find plays on YouTube, I also enjoy watching them.

I’m very interested in mythology. I know a bit about Greek and Norse mythology, but I’d love to read more, and also explore others like Chinese, Indian, and Egyptian mythology.

I’ve recently started studying philosophy, though I go a bit slowly since I sometimes lose focus. Still, it’s something I want to keep exploring.

I love art and I’d like to read more about art history and discover more artists.

I really like gothic literature. I’ve read Frankenstein, Dracula, and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and lately I’ve been reading Poe.

I also enjoy dystopian novels. 1984, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451 are some of my favorites.

I also enjoy reading books about mental health and wellbeing.

Even though I’m childfree, I enjoy children’s books as well. There’s something very simple and meaningful about them that I really appreciate.

I don’t know a lot about history yet, but I’m interested in learning more. I want to read more about ancient kingdoms, Roman Empire, Middle Ages, and how people lived in different periods.

I really enjoy etymology (words in general). I have a few etymology and dictionary books, and I love opening them from time to time and just looking up random words. If you enjoy that too, I’d really love to have a friend to share it with.

There are many other things I’m interested in and want to learn. Even if we don’t share all the same interests, I’d really like to meet someone who loves reading, learning and exploring new things. I always have something to share, and I’d love to hear what excites you too. We don’t have to read at the exact same pace, just having someone to talk to about what we’re reading would be really nice.

I’m hoping for something like a penpal-style friendship. I usually try to reply in the evenings before going to sleep. There might be days when I can’t write, but I’d at least like to keep in touch every couple of days. If you think we’d get along, just send me a message. Thank you.

ISO buddies for Dungeon Crawler Carl: A Parade of Horribles (audiobook) buddy read on StoryGraph

30's F looking for some or many buddies to do a buddy read on StoryGraph for the release of DCC! I will probably listen to about 5 hrs per week, maybe more, and it's a 20 hr long audiobook. Anyone interested? I've never done a buddy read on SG but want to try it out and thought this would be the perfect opportunity for the release day.

Hiiii! I’m 27F and looking for a book buddy! Age doesn’t make a difference to me as long as you’re good at getting as excited as I am about books and talk about them in depth. I have a pretty open schedule and don’t go anywhere without a book so getting through a book quick is easy for me. However, I can slow down if need be. Realistically I would LOVE someone who would read the same book as me at the same time and we could talk about it as we go through chapter by chapter. I’m into romance, dark romance, fantasy(fantasy is my favorite), romantasy, fiction, horror, thriller, etc. One topic I’m not particularly interested in but willing to try are mystery/crime and such. I’m open to pretty much anything! If everything works out we could be long term book buddies and eventually wouldn’t mind giving out my number so it’s easier to get ahold of each other and blab about the amazing things going on in our books! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be in a bookclub but I live in such a small town that there isn’t any near me. Please message me if you’re interested!

21F looking for book buddy to either discuss books with or also book club them together

Genres of interest: Classics, horror, westerns.. anything to put my brain to work

I used to book club classics with my friend. We'd read a set amount of chapters a week and then discuss (over text - it was effortless) on sundays. That friend has kind of gone MIA and I really miss the vibes of knowing that someone else is also actively engaging with the same content. Made me motivated to find out more background information about authors and also take notes on my thoughts as I was reading. I miss sharing this with someone!

Age or gender doesn't matter. I'm European but I also don't mind a time zone difference.
