SEEKING ADVICE: HiBreak Pro screen failure after <1 year — company says “pressure damage,” not covered.

Hi all,

I’m looking for some perspective from others who have used e-ink phones.

I’ve been using a Bigme HiBreak Pro for less than a year (purchased August 2025 from the official store), and until recently I absolutely loved it. The phone has been a bit buggy, but nothing I couldn’t tolerate. It’s honestly been a game changer for me — I feel much less pulled into my phone, but I can still use WhatsApp, Maps, Audible, etc. I don’t want to go back to a normal smartphone or a color screen if I can avoid it.

Recently, the screen developed a strange pattern (intersecting lines, visible especially at the top), and the phone became increasingly unresponsive and eventually unusable. There was no drop or obvious damage event — it was in my purse during normal use, and I’m not aware of any impact or pressure that would explain this.

I tried to attach an image but for some reason it keeps getting deleted?

I contacted Bigme support, and they reviewed the video and told me this is “internal screen damage” caused by external pressure (they say this is common with e-ink screens). Because of that, they are denying warranty coverage. Their only solution is a discounted replacement (30% off), or repairs which are only available in Shenzhen, which isn’t realistic for me(located in the states).

I’m trying to figure out:

  • Does this actually look like pressure damage to people familiar with e-ink screens?
  • Is it reasonable for them to conclude this without more evidence?
  • Would you push harder on the warranty, or is this kind of failure just something you have to accept with e-ink devices?

For context, I really do like the product and would prefer to stay with an e-ink phone if possible, but this experience with support is making me hesitate. I've not heard great things about the Minimalist phone, and the price is quite high.

Appreciate any thoughts, especially from people who have used Bigme or other e-ink phones.

Thanks.

Bigme B6 Color - WeChat Transfer pop-up

wanted to share this journey in case anyone else has this problem/ has more info.

The Problem

Constant pop-up asking to download WeChat Transfer.

What I have tried to Solve

  1. Disable Bigme Bloat: I tried to disable all of the Bigme apps through the settings, this seemed to work for a while but the notification came back
  2. Download Octopi Launcher to see hidden apps: was able to delete some more stuff but still no luck
  3. Shizuku + Canta: I used step 5 of this guide to get an idea of what programs to remove, using these two apps so I didn't have to mess with rooting the device
  4. Shizuku + no_more_background: this seemed to finally work. I disabled "com.sohu.inputmethod.sogou.oem" cause that was the only thing that I didn't recognize.

One last note is that I can no longer use the first three haptic buttons after doing this, but I really never used them so it was a good tradeoff in my mind. I believe that if you use Canta to delete the app that the button is linked to it will just no longer work and not let you re program it.

Hope this is helpful!

B7 and drawing apps

Just bought myself a B7 color (I think it's the b7 and not the pro) and I love it.

But I was curious if any one knew of any drawing apps that work nicely as the built in note taking app. They all seem to have a delay when you draw, even though the note app doesn't.

Ideally I was looking for one that I can tell you ignore touch input and only accept the pen input, and clip studio does that, but has a noticable delay when I try to draw. But if I just have to get a drawing glove, I will, as long as I can have an app that functions.

B7 Pro 2.0.0 update

Anyone else have the 2.0.0 update pop up yesterday?

It oddly said it was a greyscale update, but the B7 Pro is colour. It seemed to have the same changelog as 1.9.0

I installed it, but I can’t tell if anything has actually changed. Anyone?

Bigme 6 battery life

I just got the bigmeb6 colour - I saw people have said the battery life isn't great but I have debloated the device & using koreader with the light off I can see the percentage going down as I read - it must have dropped 15% with 2 hours of reading - surely this can't be right?

Hibreak Pro screen broke after less than two weeks

A few weeks ago I ordered a Hibreak Pro. It was exactly what I have been looking for months – a fully fledged smartphone with the functionality I want (and to an extent need), with enough friction to make the interactions I hated about my phone use (doomscrolling/short-form video) so unattractive as to almost completely eliminate them.

Unfortunately, my screen broke this weekend after less than two weeks of use! I took it out of my pocket on Saturday afternoon and the screen was simply frozen on the lockscreen. The power button turns on the backlight and I can feel the phone vibrate if I long press it, but the screen doesn't change. I assume the screen has suffered a hardware failure of some sort.

I have just ordered another one hoping that it was just a dud, because this phone is truly exactly what I wanted and I am filled with dread at the idea of going back to an iPhone.

Long-term owners of e-ink phones, how have you avoided similar experiences?

The legit Bigme Store?

Hey all!

I'm new to Bigme, trying to order a Bigme B6.

I've seen a lot of talk about possibly fraudulent Bigme stores, so I decided to check with you first. Could you please direct me to the "official" storefront? (Their store has the B6 in green, which I'd really like.)

Is this the correct store: https://store.bigme.vip/

I think there is a fraudulent store as well (eurostore.bigme... or something) which doesn't even load pictures properly...

My post might be silly, but I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks!
