Complete ineptitude.

I don't understand how a large bank so be so inept. Attempted wire transfer to my own external account, this got my account inexplicably locked.

Ok, strike one but I get it fraud etc...

What's inexcusable is the process. It's pure ineptitude. No number to call. Just "your account is locked, here's a customer service link". No details. So you call the regular BofA number and you wait 15 minutes on hold only for them to tell you some other department handles it and here's the number.

The number picks up and says "you can win some money, hit #1". Wrong number or they are even worse than I thought.

Ask in BofA mobile app. Some genius just refers me back to the same general BofA number I already called uselessly.

I frankly just opened it for the free $500 so thanks for that, I guess, and after this nonsense I am closing it right back out.

Does anyone know the mailing address for Debit card transactions disputes?

BOA denied my claim without ever letting me submit evidence (even with the merchant in question telling me to do a charge back). Even though it’s 2026 and they can’t do stuff like the rest of the world like email or allowing me to upload it into

The app. I have to send it snail mail. I’m pretty sure the lady on the phone when I called gave me the wrong address because when I look it up it shows up as property lien disputes. So if anyone know where to point me since I can’t get answer from them until tomorrow I’d appreciate it

Need Help With a Recent Job Offer

I recently received an offer from Bank of America for the Relationship Banker role. My hourly pay will be $25, paid training June 22 to August 28, and I know the benefits are usually pretty good at Bank of America.

The reason I need help is because I felt a little confused after my phone call with HR. They described the role and explained pay, where I would be working, and when training would be and then asked me if I accept the offer. I personally wanted to take some time to review the offer myself and really take time to think everything over so I can make a well informed decision and I thought it was appropriate to tell them that but I was met with a confusing response. The HR person immediately said they were trying to get me into the June class, which I can understand why there may be a little rush, but then they said I won't get a full offer letter/document until I accept the offer which they also said I must have an answer for by tomorrow latest.

This timeline is a bit of an issue because I have an interview coming up in 2 days with Wells Fargo for the Personal Banker role. I still want to explore this opportunity but feel super pressured by this offer.

I am grateful for this opportunity and plan to accept the offer right now so please help me by providing your opinions on the situation and some good options for how I should go about this and what next steps I should take. Also, should I accept the offer and then still attend other interviews and explore other opportunities? Finally, I am trying to build a career in wealth management so help give me insight on which opportunity will give me the best opportunities to build a career in wealth management.

Is there anyway to deposit cash into a BoA account, if i live nowhere near a BoA?

Question: I have BoA, I've had BoA for about 25 years. It is my checking account (I have a savings account with them as well, but I only really keep an emergency $1000 in it. My actual savings is in the form of investments).

This all said, I live about 300 miles (in New Orleans) from the nearest Bank of America brance/ATM (I opened the account when I was 19 and lived in a place with BoA branches).

I am a bar manager/bartender. All of my credit card tips go on a paycheck, which is direct deposited. I normally only make around $150 or so a week in cash, which I use for gas, food, etc. I put my cash in an empty can, and when the levels get high, I just take it on a vacation to whatever country I'm headed, convert it, and spend it there. Currently, do to it being busy season here, I have like $2700 in cash, and want to actually deposit it, because I absolutely never need that much cash in a million years.

Is there any way I can get this into an account? The internet says you can't mobile-deposit money orders, and I definitely don't let want to physically mail that much in money orders to deposit. Am I missing anything? I realize this is a stupid question, but I'm at a loss. Thanks!

texted about fraud on my ATM card, called BofA but hold times are too long

Anyone else get a text alert today about possible fraud on their ATM card?

I tried to talk with BofA but hold times are long and I had to hang up before I could get any answers from them.

The use was declined "due to invalid exp date or card is not activated". I can't recall if I had an old card or not - I'm pretty sure I don't.

I've locked the debit card for now.

Secondary review?

Hi folks,

So, to make a long story short, BofA closed my consumer checking accounts due to a check being returned altered or fictitious erroneously by the originating FI. Fortunately, the issuer was able to contact their FI, and notify them of this discrepancy. I was lucky enough to get someone on the line in the risk department, that was able to put in the request for a secondary review, and they then were able to get ahold of the issuer and originating FI and confirm the info. Much to BofA's credit and my total surprise (as everyone on reddit makes it seem like you're doomed no matter what and there's never a way to level-set these situations), they sent me a letter a week after my request stating that upon further investigation they would be removing all derogatory info that was sent pursuant to the closure. Now, I had been getting denied due to this derogatory info for the last month, trying to open my LLC's checking account (understandably) (quite literally had truist open an account for my llc in-person, and close it the following monday early am, after opening it on a friday afternoon, made a 1500 cash deposit to open it too, i just now got that check for the balance. they'll open the account but not run the authorized signer until the next day? unethical in my opinion. you would think like every other bank DD would be done prior to account opening, and then re-evaluated within the days following, but always consumer reports evaluated prior to account number issuance), I called back in and they actually escalated things to the back office and both Chex and EWS have removed the info (have verified this thru chex's portal and called EWS).

My question is; I was able to open up a business checking account with BofA, which I know might sound nuts, but I was genuinely impressed by the fact that they actually did the due-diligence and didn't play any games, and I have awesome staff at my local branch (I enjoy actually going to the bank from time to time), it was opened in-person with no issues, made a significant cash deposit, and have yet to encounter any trouble. Is it all kosher now?

The recurring credit card balance autopay is a joke

I’m sure everyone is aware the stupid recurring payment will pay full statement balance regardless if you paid balance down or not.

Yesterday it happened to me and worst part is after I brought the new balance down, I hadn’t even used the credit card much so credit card went into negative balance.

I called yesterday and today and both times they act like this is normal or superior compared to other credit card companies that pay adjusted balance when you set up auto pay.

They couldn’t even claw back the overpaid amount. It was either the negative balance or return full payment which would result in charging me the interest.

Fraudulent charge on Credit Card

So I had my phone snatched from me when I was walking home from the bars and charges over $1K on apple pay with my BofA credit card amongst others. 1 has resolved it, other is still in review and BofA has denied my case. I have been trying to get on a call with the fraud department but they take my story and then tell me that they’ll review with no resolution. Looking for advice because everyone that I have spoken to have never had an issue of getting fraudulent charges reversed but I seem to have no resolution that doesn’t consist of me paying the charge.

Will checking fees be waived if I have 20K in my Merrill Edge Roth IRA?

I'd like to open a BOA checking account in order to qualify for the Preferred Rewards program. If I have a linked Merrill Edge Roth IRA, will the $14 in fees be waved in that checking immediately upon opening it?

Recurring monthly payment through zelle

I want to have my friend send me $100 per month. I was wondering if he uses zelle through the bank of america app and set up monthly recurring payments to send me $100, would he have to confirm the transaction every month or is it just set it and leave it? also does he have to put a date for when to stop the payments or is it just manually stop whenever?

Attempted debit card use at BOFA Charlotte

I’ve had my debit card replaced 3x because scammers keep trying to use my card. Around 3pm today i got an email saying someone tried to use my card at BofA Charlotte. Luckily my card was locked.

I read other threads and people are saying BofA Charlotte is a scam and isn’t actually from BofA. Or that it’s BofA checking if your card is “valid”. Is this true or should i just completely close down my bank account and bank somewhere else ?

Fraud claim denied

I Live in Oregon and had a total of 19 transactions that went through, totally $3800 in a 4 day window. I was notified via text asking if one of the charges was mine and that's how I found that someone was taking money from my account. I've banked with BofA for 26 years and have never had this happen to me. All charges were from Indianapolis. I haven't been there. The day that I created my claim, while I was on the phone with them and after they canceled my card, someone was trying to make a charge on the new card number that wasn't even sent out to me yet, they told me this on the phone. I files a police report. After this happened, I was watching my account like a hawk. A new hotel charge for what do you know, Indianapolis came through, I called the bank, they said they saw it and had added it to my claim. I also contacted the hotel since the transaction was processing and they gave me the name of the person who did it. I then gave that info to the police and bank. ( probably a fake name) and they said it would be canceled. Nope. The bank and hotel didn't do anything and that processed being out an additional $550. I took the rest of my money out and shut down the account- not closing it out.

BofA has since denied the whole claim and said that I would need to write an appeals letter with evidence, which they already have. What do I do? I am a single mom and this really puts me in a bad spot. I could really use some assistance.
