Why are people fixated on thinking RFY is pulling from their normal Amazon data?

As someone who has been programming for nearly 30 years, there is nothing indicating to me that Vine data and your normal Amazon data are being shared with each other.

Vine is a closed ecosystem and is not connected to normal Amazon shopping.

Every time I mention this, I get downvoted, and people saying "well I ordered XYZ from Amazon and now I see XYZ in my RFY!" get mass upvoted.

Yet there are countless threads of people complaining that their RFYs are completely unrelated to them and their Amazon purchases.

There's a ton of evidence backing up the fact that Vine is only using your Vine order history to help seed your RFY, and NOT your normal Amazon purchases, your normal Amazon recommended page, or your normal Amazon profile information.

Any connection between your normal account and your Vine account is purely coincidental.

RFY for a couple minutes..,

This showed up in my RFY and I spent no more than two minutes researching it. Tried to place my order and it’s gone. So frustrating.

Does your RFY tell a story ?

Mine sure seems to tonight.

That poor dog needed anti-slip socks to climb up the stairs.
Alas the toilet was locked, no water for him.

Quite a sad story.

I Take Back Every Pouty Thing I said - Vine Is Amazing 🤩

I actually stopped ordering because my first review is in 2 weeks. But this was one of my last ordered items and these “feline arm warmers” are so soft it’s literally like wearing a cat on your arms 😂❤️

It’s not a $1200 espresso machine but it brings me joy & fuzzy comfort so I’m ok with that.

P.S. yes I’m wearing them upside down but I wanted the toe beans to be visible for the pic!

Yup, I’m old as dirt. But who said a gal can’t have a little fun regardless of age?

So I picked up this little toy in the wee hours of the morning. And ya know what - I was really, really EXCITED! And tickled! Shared that little tidbit with my kids! They were horrified! YAY!

This actually showed up in my RFY - first time that’s happened. Yes I know - we are to write honest reviews - but how am I supposed to review this?

What the heck is this thing?

I'm a bit of a tool collector, and grab all sorts of tools I don't really need, but this one is beyond me. It just came up in my RFY, and I'm having a hard time figuring out who could possibly use this thing. It looks like a prop from a bad sci-fi movie.

Just think of all the uses!

Those are definitely all words. Well, most of them.

This poor photoshopped guy doesn't even know what it's for.

It's for laboratory saving, obviously! You can be a hero!

Those measurements only make it more confusing. But hey, it's waterproof!

The RFY finally knows me!

It's perfect. I am coo coo. The description had me and my husband laughing.

Getting charged for vine items

For the THIRD time in the past month I've gone to get a vibe item only to see a charge in checkout. 100% went through Vine because I was using my phone, and never clicked on the description. This time I noticed too late ($0 ETV, so I was rushing to grab it before it disappeared) and clicked check-out. Panicked, and tried hitting the back button as quickly a possible. It did go to the next page, but it had some kind of warning and a "continue" button. Couldn't read it, because the browser responded to me hitting the back button a fraction of a second later. Until recently I've never had this happen.

I think I saw a post or two earlier this year claiming the same had happened, and it seems to be increasing in frequency. On that post, most people claimed the author was confused and clicked on the item description and tried to check out from there. This absolutely has not happened to me once, and I 100% guarantee I clicked the correct thing. Any new information on what's happening?

Need suggestions

I ordered a peel and stick wallpaper and I was looking forward to it as part of my first DIY laundry room.

Another print of same offering was delivered today with the product description sticker of the print i had selected .

Is there a way to get the correct product reshipped by seller?

First let me say that I don't blame Amazon for what happened. I am completely responsible for not keeping on top of reviews. I am disappointed with the email saying not to worry about my status. Also once you are out forget getting any response from Amazon.

A little background, I had gold status and really appreciate the opportunity Amazon provides with the vine program. My father recently lost his battle with cancer and the last 3-5 months have been really difficult. I did notify Amazon of the situation months ago. In any case, a few days before renewal I thought maybe I could get caught up enough to stay in the program. Reviews were not clearing so I contacted support asking if any help could be provided. I am attaching the response I received. I thought perhaps I was okay based on support's email but a few days later I was out.

Receiving a product varient

A few days ago, I ordered and received an item that was a varient of the listing shown. It mostly worked as the original item but the product number was different and the shape of the item was also slightly different.

I searched this sub and found a few posts stating that you shouldn’t review and some saying they still would with the responses seeming mixed.

I reached out to Vine’s customer service to make sure. I gave the order information as well as a list of the differences between the product page and the one I received. They responded to me within a couple of hours saying that the differences I found could still be useful for the community & they gave me the option to decide how to proceed. I could get it removed from my queue or continue the review as is but just needed to let them know which i would intend to do.

I decided to continue the review as normal since I had already taken time to write out the review so the bottom line is make sure to contact the Vine customer service if you are unsure but their main stance seems to be a major deviation from functionality. Hopefully this helps someone in a similar situation.

Confusing email regarding a review

I reviewed some marker lights for our ProMaster van. The review was pretty straight forward and basically said they were aftermarket lights that worked and fit perfectly. I never received an email saying it was rejected but saw on my Review list that is was not approved, so I clicked "Review again" and this message appeared:

"We apologize but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account. For more information or to contact us, please see our community guidelines."

I emailed Vine CS to ask what the problem was and got this response:

"We have removed this review as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of our Amazon Vine Voice program. Our systems have detected that this product has exceeded the authorized number of Vine reviews for its program tier. To ensure fairness and consistency across our review program, we suppressed any excess of Vine reviews per product. Once a review is removed for reasons related to policy compliance, the reviewer may not submit new reviews on the same product."

Huh? Anyone else get this confusing message? Did they give away too many lights to Viners? (There are only two reviews showing so I can't see that being the issue.) The first part makes it sound like they accidentally permitted too many people to order the item but the last line makes it sound like I violated some policy and am being denied the opportunity to fix my review. Hoping someone has some insight...

Highest $0 ETV item I’ve ever gotten!

I am on a weight loss journey so I was super stoked to see this in my RFY this morning. I was also surprised at that price tag. 😅

I got a Wyze smart scale on vine last year that works well enough. But I was curious as to how it measures the different stats and I read that scales that use your hands and feet are a bit more accurate than ones that measure solely through your feet. (Pun intended; Ba-dum-tiss)

This particular scale has a couple negative reviews among the very few reviews it does have, so I’m choosing to have somewhat high hopes of it performing correctly! 😂
