Big relief for travellers, but will flight routes via France now become cheaper or just more popular?
Smartbuy Costed me 30k loss - Need help in getting refund
I have an upcoming travel to Pune with Spouce. I have HDFC Regalia card, and bought tickets from HDFC Smartbuy - Yatra as the partner as it was cheapeast. My travel is on 25th Apr and return on 26th Apr. I did search without smartbuy and there was not much differnece. so I chose Smartbuy (Big mistake) and paid the amount.
As soon as payment was done, I got a message that flight tickets are pending and will be issued in 4 hours.
Then, I got a message from Smartbuy that booking has failed and amount would be refunded in next 2-3 days. Panic set it, travel date is near, I need to book new tcikets before the price rises further. This time, I choose to book directly with Indigo and tickets were book instantly. Some relief.
Now, I thought let me call Yatra for refud update, since Smartbuy clearly called out that any refunds should be directly dealt with Partners. When the call connected with the agent, he said that tickets are issued and I should talk to Smartbuy since they sent the message and not Yatra. So, I called Smartbuy customer support. Their initial response was that I should talk to Yarta as they have issued ticket. (You see where this is going)
Then after lot of convincing and being put on hold for eternity, I was told a case would be generated and within next 72 hours, I will get a resolution. I am feeling very sad that my 30k are on the line and I may loose them.
Please can you all suggest what should be the next steps? I am not feeling confident of the any resolution being given by Yatra / Smartbuy befor my travel.
Cancelling a SpiceJet Flight that is 3 days from now and Happyfares is showing 0 Refund. Is it Normal?
What should I do?
Came down to fighting a case with a corporate
Many of you might have seen my previous posts on this sub regarding IndiGo. This is another one.
I’m 19, and I just filed a Consumer Court case against IndiGo. I finally got my refund, and I’m not letting them walk away without paying for the "mental agony" part, i.e. the conpensation as mandated by DGCA
Back in December, during the infamous "IndiGo chaos" my flight was cancelled. When I first asked for a refund, IndiGo’s system claimed I had actually "boarded" the cancelled flight. I have a Rapido receipt proving I left the airport after waiting for 7+ hours, plus emails from their own staff eventually admitting I never flew.
Even with that proof, they dragged me through a 3-month loop of:
NCH (National Consumer Helpline): They’d promise an update, then just close the ticket. Or mail.me that I am ineligible ( ik I am eligible as per DGCA mandates)
AirSewa: Constant "we are looking into it" messages that led nowhere.
The "One Week" Lie: On April 2nd, they admitted they owed me and asked me to provide my details. Meanwhile, they were sending me replies of mails I sent back in Feb,before I filed in with NCH or AirSewa or DPG, in April, again asking for details, but this two tracks are parallel and was being handled by separate depts.
If I hadn't been persistent, they would have happily kept my money based on a lie their system generated. The refund is just what they owed me.
I’ve officially filed in my local Consumer Commission. The portal (e-Jagriti) is a pain, but if more of us sued for compensation instead of just settling for a refund, maybe they’d stop treating passengers like this.
TL;DR: Got my refund but I’m still taking IndiGo to court for compensation. They lied about me "boarding" a cancelled flight to stall my refund, which I am legally entitled to and "sorry" doesn't cover 3 months of gaslighting.

AIR INDIA - HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN
They tell me back in the day, Air India was one of the best airlines in the world. If so, then all I can say is oh how I wish I could turn back time.
I flew business class from Male (capital of the Maldives) to Delhi with Air India to connect with a flight to Singapore and then on to Sydney. This was my first flight with the Indian flag carrier and I can tell you it was my last.
The trouble started even before I was onboard - as I approached the stairs to the aircraft, I was told by one of the ground staff that contrary to my booking and boarding pass, I was no longer seated in 1A. When I asked why he just ignored me. So, I boarded and sat in 1A and watched the circus erupt around me as people began arguing about who was sitting where.
There was the traditional offer of a pre-flight beverage - water, juice or champaign. I chose the option of alcohol because I felt given how things had started, I might need it. I was then handed a glass of warm champaign. This wasn’t just room temperature, but at least it was served with a smile. Although the bubbles along with my enthusiasm went flat very quickly.
Not long after take-off, lunch was served. Putting aside the meal itself, I don’t know of any other airline that serves a business class meal without even a glass of water and if there was ever a meal that needed something to wash it down, it's on Air India.
Now, let’s talk about the aircraft. Although fairly new, they use a single aisle A320 for this sector – that’s a 4-hour international flight in a seat that barely reclines when for the same amount of money their competitors offer a seat that becomes a lay flat bed.
But all this pales into insignificance when it comes to the arrival into Delhi. After driving around the airport taxiways for over 30min to reach a gate with an aerobridge, we sat waiting for another 20 minutes to then be told by the pilot that the aerobridge was broken.
The door at the galley opened and a set of stairs were wheeled up to the aircraft so we could finally deplane.
Unfortunately, I suffer from metastatic grade 4 terminal cancer. I’m ok with short distances but need wheelchair assistance to get around airports. This is something I confirm with airlines when I book my flights. The service was provided with my departure from Male and the cabin crew assured me there would be a representative from ground support at the bottom of the stairs with a wheelchair.
So, after all the other passengers had left I stood at the top of the stairs and to my surprise, they were true to their word - he was there! However, I was wheeled all of about 2 metres then asked to get out of the chair and climb onto a bus. That was the last time I saw him or the wheelchair.
Other than the driver, I was the only person on a bus as we drove around the perimeter of the terminal. The bus arrived at a dimly lit doorway where I found 3 ground staff, each with an empty wheelchair. When I asked if one was for me, they looked rather dumbfounded and politely replied ‘no’.
Not one to surrender easily, I pushed the point and informed them a wheelchair has been arranged and without it I was unable to get to my next flight. It was at this moment that one of them asked to see my ticket. Now, when was the last time you saw an actual airline ticket? Naturally, I thought I must have misheard him so I asked him to repeat the question – but no, I had heard him correctly the first time.
To cut a long story short, my patience by this stage had evaporated and let’s just say I was soon being wheeled through the chaos of Delhi International Airport to my next flight. I can’t begin to describe my sense of relief when I was greeted with the smiling faces of the Singapore Airlines crew.
Need help with selecting a credit card for airport lounge access
Sorry if I sound too naive.
I have a trip planned for May from Ahmedabad to Banglore.
I have ICICI Amazon pay, kotak credit cards.
I am thinking of applying one which will help me use the lounge in Ahmedabad airport.
The only constraints I do not want is spending threshold and/or high fees.
So situation like.me.what should I apply for?
Thanks
France lifts Transit Visa requirements for Indians
Asked to show my boarding pass immediately after collecting my checked in bag at baggage claim.
Today I collected my checked in suitcase from baggage claim belt and immediately an Indigo staff asked me to show my boarding pass.
They checked the baggage tag sticker on the suitcase and my boarding pass, took a photo.
Is this a random check or do they do it if you look suspicious and think you’re stealing someone else’s bag?
HYD->BOM->AMS IndiGo
Hello everyone,
I’m planning to travel from Hyderabad to Amsterdam via Mumbai, with a 5-hour layover. I have a question regarding baggage handling.
Will I need to collect my checked-in baggage at Mumbai airport and check it in again for the next flight, or will it be transferred automatically to my final destination?
This is my first international trip, so I just want to be sure. I checked with the chatbot on the IndiGo website, and it mentioned that re-check-in is not required at Mumbai.
If anyone has traveled on a similar route or has experience with this, could you please confirm?
Thank you!
