When I saw “No Retreat, No Surrender” at the movie theater in 1986, not only did I love it, but I told my friends that the Russian guy was gonna be a huge star in the future haha. Any fans here of No Retreat, No Surrender?
Do you agreed this is the best Die Hard sequel? Your opinions on "Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995)"?
I watched this movie so many times when I was around 16-17. It was a super fun and very entertaining movie from start to finish without boring scenes. I think this one is nearly as good as the original movie but the ending scene was not that great. I prefer the alternate ending. Bruce Willis had a great chemistry with Samuel L. Jackson. Both were so hilarious in this movie. I really like the plot too. Jeremy Irons was great as Simon Gruber. He is my second favourite villain of the franchise. His plan is to steal the gold from the wall street is brilliant and I like all those puzzle games that he forced John McClane to play with him.
Many people hate this Bond film but I really enjoy it. Your opinions on "Quantum Of Solace (2008)"?
I never understand why so many people hate this movie. One thing that I guess because it is a direct sequel to Casino Royale and that movie is outstanding. Quantum Of Solace is a very short movie about 1 hour and 46 minutes long. I hope it was gonna be longer than that because I think a few parts of this movie still left the question to the audience and never explained. The production had a big problem because the writer strikes.
Daniel Craig and the director Marc Foster had to rewrote the scene during the movie shooting. I think it's a very unique Bond movie with a great plot. I don't think it's considered the worst Bond film ever made like some people said. I prefer this one to Spectre and No Time To Die. I know this movie is not as good as Casino Royale and Skyfall but it's not bad at all.
The story about the Quantum organisation that wants to take control of the third world environment and make the profit from it that is interesting and related to the real world. I think Dominic Greene is a good villain.
The action scenes are so entertaining and very brutal especially the car chase scene in the beginning and the hand to hand combat fight scenes. The movie moves fast and never stops. I think it's a very underrated Bond film. I really like the Bond girl in this movie (forgot her name) her character is not a type of Bond girl in other movies. She does not show her body or wanna be sexy. She has a mission to do. She is so strong and never slept with Bond and I like that.
"BLOWN AWAY" (1994) - another film from my VHS rental days, remember it fondly with some good action and a great cast, if not some questionable accents and politics. Any fans out there of this one?
Blown Away is a 1994 American action thriller film directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones, Forest Whitaker, Suzy Amis, and Lloyd Bridges, and follows a Boston bomb squad member pursuing an Irish bomber, who recently escaped from prison and is targeting the other bomb squad members.
What do you look for in a great action movie?
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a personalized movie rating app, and I’m currently evolving the rating system.
I’m trying to better understand how action fans evaluate action movies, because I don’t think action should be judged with exactly the same priorities as drama, horror, documentary, romance, or comedy.
For action films, what do you personally look for the most?
Is it choreography? Intensity? Practical stunts? Visual clarity? Pacing? Set pieces? Characters? Emotional stakes? Physicality? Something else entirely?
- What makes an action movie really work for you?
- What matters more in action than in other genres?
- What matters less?
- Can an action movie be great even if the story is simple?
- And what usually ruins an action movie for you?
If you have examples of action films that perfectly represent what you value, I’d love to hear them too.
I’m not trying to create a universal rule. I’m trying to understand how people who really love action movies think about the genre, so I can make the app’s rating system feel more relevant and personal.
Thanks!
Any fans of "Inception (2010)"? It's my top 5 favourite Nolan films.
I really like the concept of this movie about a group of criminals who have a machine that can go inside the target dreams and change their mind, stealing something in the dream but it will change the future in real life. I watched this movie three times to understand all the details. Christopher Nolan is a mastermind. His films are very unique and very interesting. I think Inception is his masterpiece work just like The Dark Knight. It's a movie that is ahead of time. The cast is excellent. I love all the characters in this movie especially Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Both were very entertaining characters. The action scenes are very good too especially the final act when the dream is collapsing every character has to complete their mission in 4 steps of dreams.

Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms return to Conan the Barbarian. To shoot in 2027.
collider.comPatriot Games (1992) is my personal favourite Jack Ryan movie. Your opinions about this movie?
Patriot Games is my first Jack Ryan film that I watched. I think Harrison Ford was great as Jack Ryan I prefer him to Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck. He is Jack Ryan in the older version that I want to see. He got family and retired from the CIA. I think the story is very simple and very personal about saving his family from the IRA terrorists that want revenge. It's not too complicated or involved with the political as much as like other films in the series. I really like Sean Bean as the villain. I like his English accent. He nailed it very well. Samuel L. Jackson was great too as the supporting actor. The final house invasion scene to the boat chase scene was awesome too. This scene is very intense.
"TANGO & CASH" (1989) - another firm favourite for today. Love it so much still. Great cast on top form, funny, good action, absolute nonsense in parts. Assume a fair few fans of this one too?
Tango & Cash is a 1989 American buddy cop action comedy film starring Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Jack Palance, and Teri Hatcher. The film follows Raymond Tango and Gabriel Cash, the titular pair of rival police detectives, who are forced to work together after a criminal mastermind frames them for murder.
The film was chiefly directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, with Albert Magnoli and Peter MacDonald taking over in the later stages of filming, with Stuart Baird overseeing postproduction. The multiple directors were due to a long and troubled production process, which included numerous script rewrites and clashes between Konchalovsky and producer Jon Peters over creative differences.
Tango & Cash was released by Warner Bros. in the United States on December 22, 1989, the same day as Always. The film received mixed reviews from critics, but was a box-office success, earning over $120 million on a $54 million budget.
Don Fale played a mafia boss in the latest episode of Kamen Rider Zeztz
Actor with the best one-and-done lead action hero role (sequels count as the same role)?
Just a thought that randomly popped in my head and I settled on some:
Bob Odenkirk - Nobody
Saoirse Ronan - Hannah
Mary Elizabeth Winstead - Kate
This was harder than I thought bc sometimes actors breakout for an action role and then carry that for a few films or going forward. I'm pretty sure the ones I listed only have one action movie to their credits
