Laptop stuck in recovery loop, no disks detected anywhere
Hey, I’m losing my mind with this one.
I wanted to connect my Acer Nitro 5 (AN518-58) laptop to an external monitor via USB-C DisplayPort. I went into the BIOS to check if the display could be routed through the iGPU and changed the GPU mode from Hybrid to Optimus. Bad idea.
Since then my laptop is stuck in a recovery loop and won’t boot into Windows 11 at all. I went back into the BIOS and reverted the GPU mode back to Hybrid but the problem persists.
The worst part is that neither diskpart nor wmic can detect any of my drives, including two internal NVMe SSDs. Zero disks found. I also tried all the bootrec commands, fixmbr, fixboot, scanos, rebuildbcd, all returned 0 Windows installations found.
I did a full BIOS reset to defaults, disabled Fast Boot, nothing changed.
I found a post mentioning that Windows RE doesn’t ship with NVMe drivers so diskpart can’t see NVMe drives, and that drvload could fix it, but I got error 0x80070002 when trying to load stornvme.inf.
My plan now is to create a bootable Windows USB on another PC and install Windows on my second NVMe which only has games on it, hoping the installer detects the drives properly.
Has anyone dealt with this ? Any other suggestions before I go the fresh install route ?
High temperature while gaming
I have an Acer Nitro AN515-58 with an i5-12450H and RTX 4060. While playing GTA RP, my CPU temperature stays around 90°C and the GPU around 70°C. I’ve already cleaned the fans and replaced the thermal paste. Is there any way to improve these temperatures?
# PSA: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58 (i7-12650H + RTX 4050) ships with an undersized charger — and it will slowly kill it
**TL;DR:** My Acer Nitro 5 started flickering LEDs and beeping on boot after 2 years. Turned out the stock 230W adapter was degraded. Replaced it with the 280W OEM unit. Problem gone. But here's the thing — it probably shouldn't have been 230W in the first place.
---
## The symptom
One day my laptop started doing something weird on startup: both LEDs would flicker, a short beep would sound (like the charger got unplugged), and the network card wouldn't initialize. Unplugging the adapter from the wall and plugging it back in usually fixed it — but not always on the first try.
During actual use? Perfectly fine. Games, heavy loads, long sessions — no issues whatsoever. Only on cold boot.
Wiggling the DC jack did nothing. The click-lock connector felt solid. No signs of physical damage.
---
## The diagnosis
The cold boot behavior was the key clue. When a laptop powers on, it draws a spike of current during POST. If the adapter can't handle that spike — voltage drops, and the system interprets it as "charger disconnected."
Why would a 2-year-old OEM adapter suddenly struggle? Because electrolytic capacitors inside power bricks degrade over time, especially if the unit runs hot regularly. And mine ran hot. A lot.
Which brings us to the real problem.
---
## Why the stock 230W adapter was always the wrong choice
My colleague has a Nitro 5 too — i5 10th gen, RTX 3050. Same 230W adapter. His runs fine.
Mine has an i7-12650H and RTX 4050. Also 230W.
The i7-12650H has a higher TDP than the i5 10th gen. The RTX 4050 draws more than the 3050. Combined peak consumption on my config can approach — and briefly exceed — 200W under full load. That leaves the 230W adapter with almost no headroom.
Running a power supply near its maximum rated output continuously causes two things:
- It runs hotter
- Its capacitors age faster
Acer's service manual actually lists 280W as an official adapter option for the AN515-58. The part exists. They just didn't ship it with i7/RTX 4050 configurations. Whether that's a cost-cutting decision or an oversight in the product spec sheet — you decide.
---
## The fix
Replaced the stock Delta ADP-230JB D (230W) with the OEM Chicony A21-280P1A (280W).
Part numbers to look for: **KP.28001.001** or **KP.2800H.001**
Same 19.5V, same 5.5×1.7mm locking connector with the click. Drop-in replacement.
Result:
- Zero boot issues since
- Adapter runs at ~40°C under load vs noticeably hotter before
- Working well within its rated capacity now (~65-70% load instead of 85-90%)

## What you should check
If you have an **AN515-58 with i7-12650H** (or any higher-TDP variant of this laptop):
Check your adapter model — if it's 230W, it's undersized for your config
If you're experiencing intermittent boot issues, LED flickering, or single beep on startup — your adapter is likely degrading
Don't just replace it with another 230W unit. You'll be back in the same situation in 12-18 months
Get the 280W OEM (KP.28001.001) — it's the right spec for this hardware
The 230W might work fine for lighter Nitro 5 configs (i5, RTX 3050). But if you're running the heavier silicon, your charger has been quietly suffering since day one.

Nitro n50-610 GPU Upgrade
Hello everyone,
My brother-in-law bought a RX 9060 XT as an upgrade to his current pre-built computer, a Nitro n50-610. Since the MoBo is proprietary, is it hard to understand if the new GPU is compatible. I believe his PSU is 500W which is 50 over the minimum requirement for a RX 9060 XT. Physically, the new GPU seems like it will fit as it is a dual-fan.
Any and all input is greatly aprpeciated!
Thanks in advance.
My laptop died too V15 ANV
Am i cooked? Need assistance, tried every possible diagnosis on internet i think the ones people say when it doesnt turn on.
It suddenly turned off and didn't turned on when i was using browsers editing a report online.
The lights were off yet until now both charging or power on, but i think i have some hope here
(It did started once and i used it gradually increasing stress like gaming in end nothing was wrong until then) Later i shut it down at night normally, and again in morning it didnt turned on.
So if it started once or twice, that means it isn't died right?
As much i think its not a mobo problem but give some advice urgently in need, and not in warranty. (Been 2.5 years now).
If you guys Need more info to troubleshoot then just please ask.
A guy said it will be 8k in inr then he gone to 4k inr slowly convinving me saying its an ic issue on mobo etc. thanks you community please help!
Touchpad not working after Windows 11 reinstall
Hi everyone,
How are you all doing?
I’m dealing with a strange issue. I have an Acer Nitro V15 (RTX 3050) and yesterday I formatted the laptop to reinstall Windows 11. I’ve done this before without any problems, but here’s the weird part: even after installing all the available drivers from Acer’s support page, the touchpad simply won’t work.
However, if I enter the BIOS (F2), the touchpad works perfectly...
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Is Liquid Metal Thermal Grease necessary?
My Acer Nitro 16 is out of warranty. I called a few places and they said Liquid Metal is risky and they prefer normal grease even if it was their pc. Some places dont even have em. Im wondering, is it really necessary? Can i just use normal grease? What would change
SSD issue, can’t boot Windows on 3 year old Acer Nitro 5
Is it normal for an Acer Nitro 5 to have an SSD issue after only 3 years of use? Wondering if anyone else encountered this issue.
Unfortunately I only know enough to have diagnosed the issue, but not enough to fix it myself. Best Buy estimated $500 USD to replace the SSD, so I’ll probably just but a whole new laptop. Maybe not from Acer this time…

Nitro sense refuses to open
Im at my wits end, since 2 days my nitro sense refuses to open after a recent windows update. Things ive tried -
Deleted and installed a new verison
Deleted that and installed old version
Tried running predator sense
Finally did the system 32 and sys64 command in powershell earlier today, restarted, and downloaded one of the nitro sense versions and it worked. Now its some 4 hours later and again its not opening. What is going on with nitrosense? How am I supposed to control my laptop fans and keyboard lighting?
Good lord I've already made 2 posts about reinstalling windows on my Laptop... Now i have another problem... Where is nitrosense
Its not in other drop down boxes as well
Thermal pad thickness for Acer Nitro 5 AN515-47?
Hi, I’m repasting my Nitro 5 AN515-47. Inside, I see a mix of both thermal putty and actual thermal pads on different components.
I’m planning to use putty where the stock putty was, but for the parts that use thermal pads, does anyone know the exact thickness? Is it 1.0mm or 0.5mm?I want to make sure I don't use pads that are too thick, or it might mess up the contact with the CPU/GPU die.
Is it Worth buying, anything that I need to know before buying this laptop
Games crashing
My resident evil requim is constantly crashing, any fix?
Fan replacement AN515-54
Is that the CPU or GPU fan? Got it from the market and found out this one was replaced by a random ahh fan thats apparently useless although it runs on 6000+ rpm. Need to replace it with an ORG one.
Why is my CPU clock so low?
I normally don't ask this since I'm used to this, have been since 2023 or so but I've grown tired of it.
The model is a AN515-51, I've used notebook fancontrol as well, but it doesnt do any difference. Why could this be? I just cleaned the lap half an hour ago
Best driver for nitro v15
So I've been playing crimson desert and it keeps telling me my driver's out of date. But when I went through the website and tried looking it said I had to newest one which can't be because it's the stock one when I originally bought it I believe. If anybody could give me some information on what drivers are using and which one works best I'd appreciate it
