Laptop stuck in recovery loop, no disks detected anywhere

Hey, I’m losing my mind with this one.

I wanted to connect my Acer Nitro 5 (AN518-58) laptop to an external monitor via USB-C DisplayPort. I went into the BIOS to check if the display could be routed through the iGPU and changed the GPU mode from Hybrid to Optimus. Bad idea.

Since then my laptop is stuck in a recovery loop and won’t boot into Windows 11 at all. I went back into the BIOS and reverted the GPU mode back to Hybrid but the problem persists.

The worst part is that neither diskpart nor wmic can detect any of my drives, including two internal NVMe SSDs. Zero disks found. I also tried all the bootrec commands, fixmbr, fixboot, scanos, rebuildbcd, all returned 0 Windows installations found.

I did a full BIOS reset to defaults, disabled Fast Boot, nothing changed.

I found a post mentioning that Windows RE doesn’t ship with NVMe drivers so diskpart can’t see NVMe drives, and that drvload could fix it, but I got error 0x80070002 when trying to load stornvme.inf.

My plan now is to create a bootable Windows USB on another PC and install Windows on my second NVMe which only has games on it, hoping the installer detects the drives properly.

Has anyone dealt with this ? Any other suggestions before I go the fresh install route ?
