Client suggestions for iPad Air 1?

Hi,

I’ve got an old iPad for a relative I want to set up with Audiobookshelf, but can’t load the web page- does anyone know if there’s a client on iOS that supports iOS 12?

Edit: Audiobookshelf, Plappa and Audiobooth all require newer versions of iOS. and Safari, Chrome and Firefox all don't render the page properly. Meaning I can't navigate to books or podcasts to listen. I'm guessing it's a no go (Short of vibe coding an alternate web frontend but I'm not down for that)

Recommendations for an Elderly relative’s Jellyfin Device

Hi Folks,

Im in Australia and I’m looking for a recommendation on an affordable client device for an elderly relative. They don’t have a Smart TV, so the easiest thing to do is just add a box, but I’m looking for something that’s simple and easy to drive.

I’m thinking an older used Apple TV but am open to suggestions.

Has anyone been ISP hopping to keep the super sweet $30-40 discount for 6 months?

Hey folks,

Looking at the cost of living and want to safe a few dollars. I have thought I could save $30-40 per month changing ISPs for the new Signup discount. has anyone done that rolling? And how much pain Have you endured by it?

Currently on 250/100 for $99 with Superloop because it was the ”free upgrade” from the 100/40 plan I was on.

Edit: I’m in HFC, and content with 100/40 or thereabouts, my only requirements are to not be behind CGNAT I don’t need a static IP and I have a modem & Mesh arragement I’m pretty happy with.

I miss when interfaces were fun and different

I fired up a serial communication tool for some hardware and it took me back to when user interfaces were fun. the main section looked like the classic Winamp skin and a digimon had a baby. Another app had every colour in the pastel rainbow in use in its interface. all this software is 20 years old at least, and it made me long for the inconsistent ui experiences of yesteryear.

I’m definitely looking through nostalgia goggles and loved my Winamp skins.

Hey Folks,

Are there any great places you can buy DRM free movies and TV shows online for hosting in Jellyfin?

I haven't found any platforms yet for movies and Tv. I've got Music and books somewhat sorted.

Hey Folks,

My Toddler has removed and lost one silicone thumb stick cap off my Odin Lite, can anyone suggest where I can get a replacement? I had Joycon caps over the caps that came with it but I'm unsure if they're psp or a different size.

Hey folks,

Bottom Line Up Front: I’m not a journalist but I’m looking for a news aggregator app that’s paid and gives you paywall access and passes that money onto the publications I access. Basically Apple News+ but I want to access it on non-Apple devices.

I’m in a journey to reclaim my media ownership, and support creators. I want to stop paying the tech middleware companies of the world and make sure I’m supporting those that create the content I consume. I’m also not made of money and can’t subscribe to every single publication individually, which is why I’m looking for a paid news aggregator which actually passes the money onto the publications I access. if sites offered a pay as you go where I pay $10 and get to read that many articles before topping up, but then you have to put a dollar value against articles and I don’t think anybody wants or needs that or all that’s involved.

I’m not interested in Apple News+ for two reasons, I want to access it on devices that aren’t made by Apple, and I understand they have a curation service, which isn’t necessarily what I’m looking for, I will happily build my own feeds like I currently do with Feedly.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

thx.
