Does MS from IIT M / K really worth it ?

Hi I have a rank of 778 general in chemical engineering . I got IIT Kanpur MS as of now and going to attend an interview for MS iit madras on the 19th. I was so happy but somehow from few days I'm rethinking my choice whether to go to mtech . I can get Mtech from IIT kharagpur, roorkee ( slight chances ) , BHU , hyderabad.

Since MS is not strictly time-bounded like MTech, what happens if someone’s thesis gets delayed and they are unable to complete it during the placement season? Does that affect placement opportunities significantly?

Do MS students sit for the same placements as MTech students in old IITs? I’m mainly interested in industry roles after graduation, so I wanted to understand how students usually manage thesis timelines along with placements.

Would appreciate insights from current students or alumni.

which career path currently makes the most sense for students from core branches like Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Metallurgy, and Biotech in today’s economic/job scenario.

I would really appreciate insights from people who have actually gone through any of these paths:

Placements in old IITs (MTech/MS)

PSU jobs through GATE

Full-time research / PhD route

Some things I’m curious about:

Job security and long-term growth

Salary progression

Work-life balance

Effect of AI/automation on these careers

Which path you personally felt was worth it

Would love to hear real experiences, regrets, advice, or things you wish you knew earlier.

So I have two ways as if now . I got a GATE rank of 777 and probably going to do mtech in IITs. How are the placements in IITs?? I aim to get 20+ LPA jobs. Are they possible in this circumstances ? Whats the probability. Or else I'm considering to prepare GATE next year by doing Mtech and aim for PSUs. If anyone has idea pls let me know the lifstyles and salaries in both PSUs and placements from IITs for chemical engineers in this economy. Also tell me whether I have to consider doimg research.

So I'm an engineer but not from IT or CSE. I'm a chemical engineer. I am very much interested in learning python. I have zero knowledge in coding. I want to learn from basics to advance level. So

  1. Please suggest some good free sources like youtube or any other.

  2. Also suggest platforms where I can apply this.

  3. Can I learn in 1 month ?
