My 9800X3D died 2 days ago inside a AssRock B850M Pro RS Wifi.
The CPU is already on it's way to AMD and I managed to test the board with another cpu and It's working.

But I don't trust this board anymore and I want to replace it.

I nailed down to two options.

Sapphire B850M Pure/Nitro+

https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/mb_pure_b850m-wifi

  • Pros:
    • Cheaper
    • Looks great both White and Black
    • Has decent VRM
  • Cons:
    • Only has Wifi6e
    • "New" brand on motherboard space
    • Missing Curve Shaper (techpowerup)

MSI B850 Mortar Wifi

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B850M-MORTAR-WIFI

  • Pros:
    • Great VRM
    • Wifi 7
    • MSI support
  • Cons:
    • Price
    • Ugly green

My main problem with sapphire is that they are new, and with the MSI Mortar it is ugly.

What you guys suggest? any other option? around 200 €

Sapphire Pure B850M / Nitro+ B850M - Is Curve Shaper available already?

Hey my 9800X3D died on a ASRock board, I'm on the process of RMA it but I don't feel confident about the motherboard, I want to buy another one.

I was looking at these new Sapphire B850M boards but I saw on https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-nitro-b850m-wi-fi/6.html that Curve shaper was missing at launch.

The release notes for the latest bios (AM50O301R13): https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/mb_pure_b850m-wifi#Download

>Relese Note:
UPDATED:

  1. Optimized overclocking performance
  2. Expanded overclocking options
  3. Optimized fan curve control
  4. Improved BIOS output resolution support

Does anyone have this board and is using this bios version and can check if curve shaper is available? This feature is very good to have dynamic UV.

Bought and built my PC on Jan 2025. I think I got the first batches of B850M Pro RS Wifi.

It came with 3.15 BIOS, I have being updating, last one I did was 3.40 ( ROM was still on my USB stick).

I've being using EXPO and PBO(so I can use Curve Optimiser to do undervolting), CPU normally ran under 70 C.

Today, PC just turned off by himself. CPU & RAM led were stuck.

I've tried:

  • Re-sitting RAM
  • Single Stick
  • Re-sitting the CPU

Nothing helps, then it stopped turn on the lights all together and became 100% dead.

There is no bent pin(MB), burn marks or blemishes on the CPU.

After removing the CPU, the leds for CPU & RAM are turned on.

Should I RMA the CPU and switch mobo?

9800X3D finally died? Should I RMA?

My PC was on and suddenly it shut down, then cpu & led stayed solid on and it does not boot.

I've tried using a single dimm(both), removing the GPU and clearing the CMOS and nothing.

No burn marks or bent pins.
