CPU too hot or normal?

Hello guys, not sure if my PC temps are normal or if something’s wrong with my cooling setup.

I’m using a Ryzen 7 5700X, and when I play Helldivers 2 or other AAA games, my CPU temps usually go into the low to mid 80s °C. I recently upgraded from a Cooler Master air cooler to a Thermalright Peerless Assassin, so I expected lower temps.

Another thing I noticed is that when I first boot up my PC, the CPU sits around 60°C for the first 5–10 minutes before dropping down to around 40–50°C idle.

Current setup:

  • Ryzen 7 5700X
  • RTX 5060 8GB
  • MSI B550M
  • Thermalright Peerless Assassin
  • Cooler Master MWE Gold 750W

Are these temps normal for the 5700X?

PS. I also did some reapplication of thermal paste.

Tossing up between Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC or XFX Mercury Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Magnetic Air Edition.

Needing to buy a new GPU soon as my 6800 XT is on the way out, constantly crashing. Was tossing up between these two models cause I'm not looking to go into the 5080 or 5090 yet, and they're way too expensive atm.

Am looking for a GPU for good multitasking and perfect 4k gaming.

best ram for gaming: 16gb or 32gb for a new am5 build in 2026?

I’m planning a new pc build and trying to figure out what the best ram for gaming actually is right now. I’m going with an am5 platform and ddr5, but I keep getting mixed advice about capacity more than speed.

Some say 16gb is still fine for pure gaming, others say 32gb is basically the new standard. I only use the pc for gaming at 1440p, mostly competitive fps and some open world games. What would actually make more sense long term without wasting money on extra ram I won’t really use?

worth to upgrade 3070 to 3080ti?

i have a 11600k 3070 build, i switched to 1440p for a while now, everything is still okay but recently i started playing more graphics intensive games as well as looking to play AAA titles. my pc struggles a little now to run those games and i get a frame drops time to time. i went on a marketplace and found a deal my 3070 + US$234 for a 3080ti, condition looks good, no problem with stress test and temps according to the seller. 1 yr personal warranty by him excluding phy damage, burned/shorted component.

now, is it worth the extra US$234 to upgrade to a 3080ti?

Rhyzen 5 5500 vs 5600 extreme budget.

Upgrading Brothers PC on extreme budget. I've decided on either a 5500 for $60 or a 5600 for a 100$ to pair with a 1660 super that I got for $70.

Are the power drawers different enough that I would have to worry about upgrading the power supply? For one or the other? Assuming I have a 600 watt power supply?

Only goal is 1080p on modern titles

Bought a new 1600 W psu off Amazon for $40 cad

So usually during breaktime at work, I tend to go on pcpartpicker and put together a parts list for fun and casually browse for any deals. Around late April, I found that Amazon was selling an ASRock PG-1600G for $40 cad including tax. I went on the SPL psu tier list and found that this psu is rated tier A+, the best rated quality. I also saw that ever other sites selling the same psu listed them around $350-400 cad, making me think that the seller screwed up and forgot to add the extra digit when listing the price. I then quickly bought the psu even though I don't need it and 1600 W is overkill for me.

But after 2 hours, I started to get second thoughts on the purchase because this psu seemed like too good to be true for it to be dirt cheap, and I discovered that the seller's review isn't the best - rated like 3.5 stars and the most recent reviews complained that the seller refused to provide refunds and damaged their products. I decided then to request for a refund but Amazon didn't grant me the usual automatic refund for products not shipped yet. Instead Amazon made the request to the seller to cancel the order. The seller however proceeded to ship the psu instead.

Once the psu arrived, I opened it to discover an actual psu and not like some rocks or something. I inspected the psu and the cables for a bit and it actually looks like a genuine ASRock PG-1600G. Other than the fact that the packaging seemed weird where the bag of cables almost busted out of box as soon as I removed the plastic wrapping, nothing else looks weird on the surface.

I want to ask if there's any other steps I can take to verify if this psu is a genuine model, hopefully without gambling my pc by hooking it up and stress testing it.

If I end up verifying that this is an actual ASRock PG-1600G, then deciding what to do with it would be another discussion.

I'm completely new to building a PC. Is this a good build?

CPU: Ryzen 5 8400F Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 Motherboard: MSI B850 Gaming PLUS WiFi RAM: TeamGroup T‑Create Expert 16GB DDR5 SSD: Silicon Power UD90 1TB NVMe GPU: MSI RTX 4060 Ventus 2X Black OC Case: Montech AIR 903 BASE PSU: MSI MAG A650GF Monitor: Sceptre 24.5" 240Hz curved Extras: Heavy‑duty surge protector.  i'd mostly be using it to play competitive games like marvel rivals, triple a games like rdr2, ghost of Tsushima. just modern triple a games in general. mostly just competitive shit like marvel rivals and overwatch tho. my budget is somewhere around $1500 right now honestly and im in the U.S.

Upgrade suggestions

Hey all,

I’m planning to upgrade completely soon, but I’ve been struggling to play some games at the moment where my fps is under 50 for most triple A titles now, and I’m also struggling in mmorpg dungeons in GW2 and WoW

I’m running it on a 1440p monitor.

I’m wondering if I should spend about $1000 AUD on a 9070xt or use it in a 9600, AM5 motherboard and 16gb ram. (Upgrading it 32gb later)

Which one would be better first in everyone’s opinion

Thank you

Edit: I have a ryzen 5600 and Gpu is a 6700 non xt

9070 XT vs 5070 — which GPU should I get?

So I’m looking to upgrade my GPU and I’m stuck between the RTX 9070 XT and the RTX 5070.

Right now the 5070 Ti is the one I really want, but in Australia it’s sitting at around $1400 AUD which is just too expensive / hard to find. 😩

Both the 9070 XT and the 5070 are floating around $900–$1000 AUD, which is more within reach for me.

Should I Trust Myself For a Deep Clean?

^(Disclaimer: I'm a complete newbie to the actual maintenance of computers)

I've come to the conclusion that I need to do a deep clean of my GPU as dust has stopped the fan from working and it's been several years without replacing the thermal paste and I've also decided to replace the paste on my CPU too. I've never done any work that could cost me hundreds of dollars like this before. Should I carefully study over and over in preparation to try and do it myself or take it to a PC Repair shop?

Best AM4 CPU for architecture/rendering?

I'm trying to build my first setup which I will mainly use for Architecture software, rendering, photoshop etc. and occasionally some games.

I wanted to get the ryzen 9 9950x3d, price was good but ram price is crazy since I need 128gb of Ram for any decent performance, so I was wondering what the best AM4 amd cpu is so that I can get my 128gb of ram

Thanks all;

Linking audio between two computers.

I have a laptop and a pc. The laptop is a legion pro 5i with a 5070ti 32gb ram and an intel ultra 9. The pc is older with a 3060ti 16gb ram and a i5 12400f. Is it possible to link these two together and have audio from both of them? I want to be able to have a set of headphones that can play from both of the computers at the same time (no switching off when the other is playing audio). I am fine with buying new audio equipment but if the price could stay on the lower side that would be great. If at all possible I would love to be able to connect a mic to both but if it’s only possible for one then that would be acceptable.

I want to upgrade my GPU from 1660 super to 5070 RTX 5070 12GB. Is this a reasonable upgrade?

I haven't been keeping up with the latest developments in GPUs.

Is this a good upgrade?

Do you have a better suggestion?
Any better alternative than 5070?

Thanks in advance.

AM5 CPU to handle Quad DIMMs w/tweaked timings?

Hello guys!

So I got 128GB of RAM (4 Crucial Pro 32GB 5600CL46) sticks a while back before the market situation peaked (Thank you Steve from Gamers Nexus).

I’m looking to grab a CPU to handle 4 sticks with manual timings without issues. I’m aware DDR5 is more complicated to run with 4 sticks.

The sticks are Micron D-Die so I can tweak the timings a bit to at least 6000MT/s.

What AM5 CPU would be ideal for this? My current parts are: 5070 Ti, Asus X870 Board w/4 RAM slots, 1000W MSI PSU, Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE for CPU and 5 Arctic P14 Max for the case, good airflow.

I don’t want water cooling to avoid running into any issues long term.

Should I get a temporary CPU and wait for the next gen or is there a good option nowadays?

I'll use my PC for Gaming / Local LLMs / VMs / Light video editing, so I'm willing to go high end if there’s a huge benefit there that won’t get any better in the near future.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
