wear your retainer
hey if you’ve got your braces off then don’t skip the retainer. i went a year without mine and saw a post from someone who had to get braces all over again because they didn't wear it regularly. it’s painful and obviously expensive so save yourself the trouble and wear it. it's very important, just want to give reminders
different rules for men and women
the double standard is painfully obvious because female actresses are judged far more harshly than male actors.
i remember seeing usman and sehar together for the first time and being a little put off because the age gap was noticeable but after a while audiences started making edits and vms and eventually accepted the pairing. honestly the only recent age-gap pairing that received major backlash was humayun and sajal. the reason was quite obvious as well.
there’s sanam saeed who signed kafeel yet reportedly wasn’t paid what she truly deserved despite being in the industry for years and consistently proving her talent.
the hypocrisy around appearance is exhausting too. an actress cuts her hair short and suddenly people act offended, she could gain weight because of health issues but people will constantly bash her but male actors casually post shirtless pictures on instagram and nobody gives a care. there are male actors who have gained significant weight and need to work on their physical appearance as well like at least be consistent if you’re going to criticize people.
at this point misogyny has become so normalized that people barely question it anymore. also spare actors and actresses the moral policing about how they should dress. they are grown adults and don’t need strangers dictating their choices
it has finally ended, the show was such a rollercoaster. i had a feeling from the start that zeba and jamal would end up together & i’m glad umera ahmed chose to wrap things up on a light & satisfying note.
aside from the warda and saif track which felt stretched and somewhat disconnected given their different backgrounds the show didn’t have any major flaws.
i personally like zeba monologue during court scenes, it was necessary to highlight how her demand for divorce was absolutely justified and oh i love her friendship with sumaira, what a strong and classy character she had been. also wish other ptv drama could explore female friendships in greater depth. it was refreshing to see stronger & more layered bonds between the women showing how they support and uplift each other through their struggles.
one thing that truly stood out was how beautifully the character of subuk was written. umera Ahmed deserves full credit for portraying him with such depth and emotional nuance. it’s easy to see why daneen fell so deeply in love with him. he was a consistently supportive brother whether it was giving pocket money, protecting javeria from jami’s anger or helping zeba realize her self-worth and that she deserved a meaningful marriage.
his internal conflict regarding daneen especially due to financial concerns felt very real. some viewers were frustrated but his perspective made sense. growing up in a dysfunctional environment often leads people to prioritize others over themselves. what he really needed was reassurance like someone older acknowledging his worth and telling him he was worth waiting for. daneen’s father ultimately gave him that confidence he had been hoping all along.
It’s quite rare in ptv dramas to see a male character evolve this naturally beginning to end. subuk’s journey was portrayed brilliantly by aashir wajahat.
for anyone who hasn’t watched kafeel, it’s definitely worth it just for subuk like honestly he’s one of the strongest reasons the drama works so well.
overall it was an amazing series. the performances felt natural and many viewers could relate to zeba’s situation. the drama perfectly highlighted an important social message that divorced women deserve a second chance at happiness and divorce shouldn’t be treated as a taboo & no woman should stay in a marriage that only brings her pain. also how such a toxic abusive environment only brings harm to children mentally. they will only experience panic attack, anxiety and get exhausted at the end. they won't ever felt safe. love how kafeel stayed grounded in reality which is what made it so impactful.
