Failed my trial clean over vacuum tracks

Edit: so some of you thought that I meant it was a free cleaning. No, it was a trial clean in the sense that she was trying me out to see if she wanted to hire me moving forward. I charged her for the clean.

I clean vacation rentals and I had a trial clean with a potential client. I have to say I don’t go into trial cleans with any doubts that I’ll get the job because I just do good work. It’s not complicated and I know what hosts looking for.

Well, while showing me the place, she told me she likes vacuum tracks on the carpet. I acknowledged what she said, but I didn’t realize how seriously she took it I guess.

What happened is that I vacuumed as the very last step, as I usually do…and my vacuum created nice tracks. She had carpeted stairs that led down to the entry and I vacuumed those thoroughly too. Once I was done, I went back up the stairs and got my stuff and took it all out to the car and then back up again to do my walk-through. I like to do a slow and focused walk-through before I leave.

When I was completely done and had the door locked, the host came out to talk to me and gave me the impression that she thought I did a nice job and that she would likely be in touch because she needed a cleaner over the weekend. I told her I was available, so just to let me know. It was kind if left on the fence and I was a little uncertain if I was supposed to wait for her or what and I was afraid to book something else. So I reach out through text to find out if she needs my help and she said unfortunately, she was not going to have me back because I walked back over the vacuum tracks before I left and she didn’t want her cleaners to do this. She said she thought she told me this, but I don’t remember her saying anything about that. She said once her cleaners vacuum, she doesn’t want them to go back in the house and mess up the tracks. I told her it was certainly a simple solution if she wanted to give it another try. But she said unfortunately, she would not be able to do that.

To be honest, I think I dodged a bulletin not being hired. Are visible and undisturbed vacuum tracks a big deal?? I have not heard this since I started cleaning in 2014. I think the final walk-through with all my stuff out is more important.

So just to be clear, I’m not super familiar with this platform. I’m a mom with a teenager and I was trying to buy something that she wanted through my account. So it’s a $20 shirt. I first see if she’ll take a discounted offer at 15%, which is what was recommended.

I do that and don’t hear anything for 24 hours. I do see that she has not been active for three weeks so I’m wondering if she’s even seen it?

Time goes by and I forgot about it because I didn’t hear anything. I realize it’s expired so I reach out again and see that she has been active within the last 24 hours. I’m wondering why did she not let me know?

So I reach out again and I just say hey, I see that you didn’t accept my offer but we are still interested and I just wanna make sure that everything is good with the shirt and it will be shipped in a timely way because my daughter will be using it for a trip. Then I don’t hear anything. What the hell? Do I just take a chance and buy it? I don’t know what to do when there’s no communication.🤷‍♀️

Edit: just adding that it would be helpful to get auto-notification via app if seller doesn’t accept offer…since some clearly don’t wanna communicate.

Patriot-sebo hybrid

I found a used Patriot brand vac with the SEBO ET350 powerhead. Seemed odd but I know nothing about vacs. Anyone know much about these? I do know Sebo is good but unfamiliar with Patriot or the hybrid thing.

Budget is $600.

Prescribed topical progesterone despite absorbency issues

I’m kind of baffled. My doc prescribed HRT via a compounder for progesterone/estrogen cream. Tonight, my nurse practitioner relative tells me to be careful because there’s issues around absorbency and progesterone. So I’d be getting all estrogen without the counter-balance of the progesterone. I got a second opinion from my OB/Gyn, whose specialty is HRT…and she was surprised as well. I’m switching to her for HRT soon.

I asked a million questions to my doc and pharmacy and neither brought up this concern. I wonder why?!

Btw, I never picked up the script.

▲ 7 r/EMDR

My teen family member (17) has had 3-4 sessions….and after the last one, she felt really depressed, angry, and anxious. We messaged her therapist asking if EMDR could be the cause and she said she’d never heard of it causing this. I know little about this therapy but based on what I do know, this makes zero sense to me. Am I wrong??

Edit: to clarify, this started a few hours after the session and into today.

I put three chicken breasts in the oven on 400 at 9 am and left for my teen to take out when done.

At 9:15, the power went out randomly in my hood. Really?! So now what?! Can my teen take it out, refrigerate and put back in later? Guessing not but thought I’d check.😕

Just sharing.

Before my chapter 7 was even officially discharged, I was sent an offer by Mission Lane and was immediately approved for a $2000 limit. I’ve been using it for various expenses and then pay the balance in full, with the goal to rebuild my credit and not that I actually need it.

If you are looking to rebuild, definitely look into them. No yearly fees. Interest rate is awful so be careful!

I got some other offers but I turned them down because they either required a yearly membership fee or some even place a lien on your house. That’s insane. So make sure you read the fine print if you get offers.

Mission seems to be pretty straightforward.

Anyone have experience going this route? I was mainly looking at Miele sellers. Open to others. Many get high ratings but thought I’d check here.

I clean vacay rentals but also will use in my own home, which is a mix of carpet, tile, hardwoods. I use the suction hose A LOT with and without attachments, so I’m thinking bagged canister might be best.

Budget: $600 max

Today, my girl and I were traumatized by the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard in my life. I grew up in the south, so I thought I’d heard the worst….but this was off the charts loud. And because it really wasn’t that cloudy and rain was not even in the forecast..plus it rarely even happens in my part of the country, it made it even more unexpected and everyone in the park was completely shocked and rattled. For a split second I thought we were being bombed.

We immediately left because it happened a few more times and then we were seeing lightning. Besides the fact that she wasn’t gonna want to stay in that park any longer anyway, even if it stopped.

She settled on the drive home…but later I was telling the story to a family member and every time I said the word “scary”, she would look around and put her tail between her legs like she was expecting something bad to happen. I don’t even think she’s ever heard that word that many times either and I certainly didn’t think she understood what it meant. But clearly, she was able to put that together based on what happened and a couple of conversations I had about it within that same hour.

Having a dog, this intelligent can be a double-edged sword! This is now a word I’ll need to carefully use around her or perhaps avoid.😅

I’m not a legal expert but I see a lot of posts here about people who file chapter 7 and then they suddenly need to buy a car. Personally for me, it made absolutely no sense to file bankruptcy and then go out and finance a $20k car. Ironically, from my preliminary research, it seemed that it was actually easier to qualify for a newer car than an older car. But I really wanted to avoid financing altogether. My car is old, but still runs fine and I did not want to part with it. At first I thought I had no choice but then I found out about redemption.

If any of you are in a position where you have a car now that is tied in with a loan, in this applies to you. Even if you are upside down like I was.

To prepare for a redemption, you will find out the true value of the car, which is “usually” much lower than the banks will say it is. You have to go to dealerships and get several estimates. Some will argue that private party is going to be higher and that is true. However, the banks likely will not want to deal with private party if they take possession of the car. They will likely auction the car and so they’ll probably be more interested in what the dealerships have to say.

The next step is to come up with an average of the estimates. So let’s say it’s between $500-$2500. Then you could offer the bank $1500 to essentially buy your car. Usually they’ll give you time to come up with the cash, but you do need to make sure that you will have the money on hand to actually do this as there’s no point even attempting it. The bank can always say no and you can surrender the car, however, they are taking the risk of potentially getting even less for the car if it goes to auction. So many times they will work with you.

Now, having said all, this is simply info that I received from my attorney several months ago. I have no idea if it would apply to your specific situation but I wanted to share it because I don’t think a lot of people realize this is an option. For some reason, I think attorneys assume most people just want to get rid of their cars and buy new cars. I don’t know why that is…but that seems to be a common thought. Just because a car is old doesn’t mean it’s not worth keeping so I don’t really understand that logic but that’s what I ran into.

I was way upside down with my car…and after getting several estimates, my attorney put in my offer that was in the higher range of the estimates I got, so I’d have a better shot. Luckily, they accepted and I was able to keep my car and not deal with financing.

Good luck to all of you.

Edit: I also forgot to add that there are also redemption loan programs out there, but I didn’t have to go that far.
