studying counterpoint and SATB voice leading : how does it relate to orchestration

Hello, I am studying counterpoint and general voice leading rules in SATB style. But the moment I am starting an orchestration book or a video course, I am completely lost.

This sound dumb but I need to name things. In SATB each voice have it's own name and everything is crystal clear, but put the same chord in an orchestra and now we no longer have 4 notes but maybe 10 notes spread across 10 instruments so 10 voices ? how do you even monitor for good voice leading when you have that many voices for 1 chord

Please bring some light to a newbie

thank you

need advice on a thin rgb led strip

Hello guys, this is the first time I am going to buy LED strips. I want a thin addressable RGB strip on the back panel of my digital piano, just above the keys. It'll be driven by custom software on my Mac to light up depending on some conditions.

my main constraint is height. Right behind the strip is a row of knobs and faders I reach over constantly. Anything tall will get in the way. I want the slimmest profile possible — ideally under 5 mm total.

Specs I need:

- Addressable RGB (WS2811 / WS2812B / SK6812 — open to anything common)

- ~1.2 m usable length, cuttable with scissors

- Smooth glow, no visible LED dots (I read that COB is better for that)

- 5V / 12V / 24V — flexible on voltage I don't really care ??

Currently looking at the BTF-LIGHTING FCOB COB WS2811 24V 3m** on amazon + 24V 3A power Supply + GLEDOPTO ESP32 WLED Elite Controller

Does COB really look smooth at close range (~50 cm from my eyes)

About the GLEDOPTO ESP32 WLED Elite Controller but this seems wifi/ethernet only, I'd like something that can just be plugged to my mac with usb, any advice on that please ?

Thanks!

Hello, I have been using 2 external monitors (one 27 inch 2160p 75hz) display port to display port on the TS4, and a second one 1080p 24hz HDMI to rear usb-c.

It has been working fine for months, but since I changed my desk and rewired everything, something is weird, my 24 inch monitor wouldn't work and would not get detected as a monitor on macOS settings. It still displays on the monitor "choose to extend display etc." so the monitor is aware he is connected to something. I tried various way and the only solution I found was to use my VGA port on the 24 inch to a VGA/usb-c adapter and plug that directly into the MacBook Pro TB port and it works.

It works but quality on the 24 is not very good, flickering etc.

What would you recommend me as a setup to connect 2 external monitors ? Maybe I'll change the cables, maybe I'd invest in a new secondary 24 inch monitor, but in either case what port should I use ? Plug both on the TS4 ? one one the TS4 and one on the MacBook ? which connectivity to use to avoid issue ? this will help me choose a good monitor

thank you

Hello, apart from carbon copy cloner on 2 different external ssd I have no offsite backup, sometimes a zip of precious files on iCloud but that’s ridiculous, I would like to backup all the internal 1to drive.

What solution on the cloud are you using ?
