Buyer wants to return shipped item due to “buyer’s remorse.” Can I decline?

Hi all,

I’m an infrequent eBay seller and usually only sell a couple items per year, so I haven’t paid much attention to all of eBay’s policies since everything has gone smoothly until now. A buyer recently paid me over $250 for a signed poster. I shipped it almost immediately a few days ago, and it’s still in transit with USPS. Earlier today, the buyer messaged me asking if they could return it unopened once it arrives.

I have a few questions about how to handle this. I’m not really in a position to comfortably refund $250+ for what seems to be simple buyer’s remorse. Realistically, the buyer could probably resell the item for the same amount or more, so I’d prefer not to be out that money over something outside my control.

  1. My listing was marked “Seller does not accept returns.” Can I simply decline the request based on that?
  2. Should I respond at all? If so, do I wait until they receive the item or go ahead and reply now?
  3. Is there any chance this comes back to bite me? Since the buyer explicitly stated they changed their mind, I assume eBay would side with me here (especially with a photo of the message), but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks in advance for any help. Just curious what others would do in this situation.

[USA-MD] [H] Like-New 2023 Apple MacBook Pro 16” (M3 Pro, 36GB RAM, 1TB SSD) – Only 11 Battery Cycles [W] Local Cash

Timestamps

Local is 20701; I can meet in the DMV area (DC/Baltimore/Annapolis/Virginia/Maryland) at a local police station or bank. I heavily prefer cash, but can also do PayPal G&S, and am trying to avoid shipping for the time being.

Looking for: $1,900 local cash

I bought this MacBook Pro in 2023 thinking I’d use it a lot more, but it’s honestly just been sitting on my shelf in the box. It’s been used extremely lightly (only 11 battery cycles) and is in excellent condition. The screen is flawless, the body is super clean, and it genuinely feels like a new machine. The only thing worth noting is a couple very small marks on the bottom, which I’ve included in the photos.

Specs:

  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD
  • M3 Pro chip
  • 11 battery cycles (maybe 12 after final charge before sale)

Comes with:

  • Original box
  • Charger and cable
  • All original packaging

I’ve kept everything in great shape, and it’s basically been stored safely since I bought it. I just don’t use it enough to justify keeping it. Happy to answer any questions or provide more photos.

I completed an at-home sleep study ordered by my doctor, got the diagnosis, but am getting the runaround on getting the prescription. Can anyone help me with this?

TLDR: I went to my doctor, told her I'm concerned I have sleep apnea, and she ordered me an at-home test from SNAP Diagnostics. She posted the test results without a prescription, I asked her for a prescription, her assistant said I get that from the company I completed the test through, that company said they only provide testing, not prescriptions. Now what?? The exchange is below. I'm trying to now get a proper prescription to get a CPAP but as you can see I think I'm confused.

Doctor: Your sleep study results are consistent with mild/moderate obstructive sleep apnea. I do recommend you start using a CPAP to help with your fatigue symptoms and overall health. Happy to discuss ways to make using a CPAP machine successful through a virtual visit.

Me: Thank you for sharing my results! I've reviewed the findings and plan to move forward with treatment by self-paying through my HSA for a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet CPAP and the necessary supplies (mask, tubing, filters).

Do I need to schedule a virtual visit to discuss the results further and obtain the prescription, or is there anything else you need from me first? If not, could you upload the prescription to my portal or email it to me? Or is that something I need to obtain from someone/somewhere else?

Thank you!⁣

Doctor's assistant: If you have any questions or concerns about the diagnosis, equipment, or just steps moving forward feel free to schedule a brief virtually visit with us to discuss. The prescription for the supplies are ordered through the company where you completed the sleep study and they should be contacting you about what they recommend. Please reach out with any further questions or concerns.

My email to SNAP: I recently completed an at-home test that was ordered by my doctor, and the results that were shared with me indicated I have moderate to severe sleep apnea. I am now looking to get a CPAP prescription. When inquiring with my doctor about this, I was told the following:

"The prescription for the supplies are ordered through the company where you completed the sleep study and they should be contacting you about what they recommend."

Would you happen to be able to provide a copy of my prescription to me? I will need this because I am looking to self-pay for a CPAP online using my HSA.

SNAP's response: Thank you for contacting us, I'd be happy to help. We think it is important to clarify that Snap Diagnostics does not provide treatment for sleep apnea, only testing. Based upon the results of your sleep test and your medical history, your doctor will work with you to select a course of treatment that meets your needs.

If your doctor determines that CPAP therapy is appropriate, they will refer you to a local CPAP provider that will help get you set up with the equipment.

While we do not provide treatment, it is important to us that our customers receive good service and timely treatment after testing.

So now what? Am I wrong in thinking the doctor should be the one writing the prescription? She's a NP, so not a dedicated sleep doctor, but I figured she'd write something up quickly.

It seems like Google Maps routes me to the back of the venue. Do I enter on V St NE or W St NE? I've seen W St NE mentioned but that seems a bit far north. As for parking, I'm not sure if I should gamble on street parking or park at one of Berhta's lots (I see 3 lots just north of the venue). Is it a mess to get out?

I’ve been to a lot of smaller concerts where artists sometimes hang around after, but the DC event this Saturday seems more like a mini festival with multiple acts in a club. Is it still realistic to meet Avalon, tell her how much I love the new album, and maybe get my vinyl signed? Do artists usually sell merch at shows like this? I’m picturing something pretty different from a normal concert and honestly have no idea what artists do when they’re not performing lol, like are they in the venue, in the crowd, hanging at the bar? Thinking of taking my vinyl, sticking it in a locker, and trying my chances, but not sure if it's worth it.

Thanks in advance!
