Is it normal to feel fake when speaking a foreign language?

Every time I speak another language I feel like I’m doing an impression of a person who actually knows what they’re doing

Like my brain is fully aware I’m not that version of me, so everything sounds slightly cringe in my own head. even when I say something correctly, it still feels off? almost like I’m acting instead of just talking.

The weird part is I don’t feel this when I’m thinking in the language, only when I open my mouth, sudenly I’m getting aware of my voice, my accent, the way I’m phrasing things etc.

Does this ever go away or do you just slowly get used to sounding like a different character lol

How much daily effort is enough to get fluent in German?

I used to think there was some “correct” number of hours too, but it’s honestly more about showing up every day than hitting a big number.

Even like 30–60 mins daily can get you pretty far if you’re actually engaging with the language and not just passively scrolling. The times I improved the most were when German was just part of my routine, not something I had to actually schedule tbh.

Also speaking makes a huuuuge difference. I avoided it for way too long and it slowed me down for real lol.

What do you feel is the minimum before you start forgetting stuff??

Gibson Les Paul BFG

Just wanted to share my BFG (2008 if I remember correctly) which I got from my father. Modded a few things:

Knobs changed to these from a Fender Amp

Dirty Fingers humbucker on board

Added truss rod plate and Pickup frame

Planning on putting in stainless steel jumbo frets when there wear out.

Old pics so the quality isn't that good.
